We've made a last minute decision to head over to the Boardwalk area for dinner when we're at WDW during T'giving week. I've been unable to get an ADR at Spoodles, which is where we wanted to go, but we'll probably head over and try to walk in, and if we can't we'll just grab something from a CS place. I have DDE, which I know I can't use at a CS restaurant. However, can I get free valet parking at BW if I dine there, but not at a TS restaurant? I'm hoping it will be a moot point and we get into Spoodles, but during that busy time I'm not holding my breath.

You should be fine. DDE is good for dining at both Spoodles or ESPN (which doesn't take reservations). As long as you're trying for Spoodles, I would think that you can valet with a clear conscience.

Since ESPN can't be checked for reservations, I would imagine that they'll have no problem parking for you regardless.

Hi

During our recent trip (September 2007) we have DDE and valet parked at both the Contemporary and the Grand Floridian when dining there. I know your question relates to the Boardwalk, but I'm assuming all the Disney resorts would handle this similarly.

When we went to retrieve our car, we just showed the valet the receipt from our dinner and were not charged. We tipped the valet attendants for parking and delivering our car.

Thanks
Noreen

As long as you will have eaten at a TS restaurant that accepts DDE and you show your current, dated, receipt and the DDE card they will waive the valet fee. (But note the valets should be tipped.) Note that at BW you can use the DDE at ESPN, FF or Spoodles. Also, Thanksgiving Day itself is block-out for DDE but it may not affect the free parking, just the discount.

Have you ever had to show a current, dated receipt? We use the DDE to valet for dining at the resorts frequently and have never had to show anything other than our card.

I have also used the DDE and got free valet and NEVER shown a receipt. I just tell the valets, as I drop the car off, that I am dining at the restaurant. Apparently they make a note of it, but I do also repeat it as I pick the car up. Again, I have NEVER shown a receipt. I do tip the valets, usually 2 bucks when dropping off, and two bucks when picking up. If I were NOT to get free valet service, I would just tip $3 when I pick up.

Hope this helps!

We have had to at the Grand Floridian on the night of a MNSSHP.

We haven't had to show a receipt in the past but we have only done it once since they started contracting it out. We usually just show our card and tell them we are eating in the restaurant and they mark it on the envelope for the key.
