DDE questions when dining with a group...

Can anyone tell me how the bill is handled when using the DDE discount whenever you have a larger group? Do they make you charge the entire amount to the holder of the DDE card?

I'm just looking ahead to when we're there Thanksgiving week and how best to handle it when we're using the DDE discount for our large group.

I have no problem with picking up the whole tab and calculating what everyone owes afterward...we're all family

They will not break up the check and give everyone the discount. Everyone will have to be on one bill to receive the dsicount, but the card holder does not need to be the person paying the bill.

What they've done for us in the past is to take the discount off the entire check, and then charge different amounts to two separate cards. We went with a friend to Boma, and they put $25 on her card, and $50 on ours without actually splitting the check.

poohj80 - Is this a new change? My friend and I were in the World together with our families last July, and each restaurant we went to allowed us to split the check, with the discount applied to each check. *I was the only DDE cardholder* It was very convenient, I'd hate to think they have made this change, although I'm not surprised.

ETA: Forever42, after re-reading your post, this may be what they did for us, I'll have to look at my receipts. We each received a check to sign, but it may be as you stated, they deducted the discount from the whole check and then charged a specific amount to each room card. That would give us both a separate receipt, right?! *as you can see, I'm starting to confuse myself, lol!*

I think it may be yet another case of it depends on the CM you are dealing with. We were told in Sept that if we split the check, the discount would only be applied to one check. We even asked if part of the bill could be put on one credit card and the rest on another (something someone else posted they were able to do) and were told we could not do that either.

If I remember correctly, this is also how it is stated in the DDE guidelines but I assume some CMs are willing to split the check anyway.
