We are thinking of buying a DDE card this year. On one of our trips we will bring my mother, and she will insist on paying for some meals. Here is my question -- if I show the DDE card at a meal (there will be a total of 6 of us), can my mother pay for the meal directly and receive the discount, or will I have to pay the bill since I am owner of the card?

Thanks!

With the DDE Card the "owner" of the card must be the one who presents the card, but anyone may make the payment.

Normally I will wait until I get the check, give the DDE card to the server, whoi will take it and then return bringing the card back and presenting a modified check. Then payment will be made by whooever is the one making the payment.

Just a side note...we just returned and had a party of 12. So the gratuity was ALWAYS included. I know next year it will be included on ALL parties. We found this AWESOME and VERY helpful...especially when dining at a buffet. The 18% gratuity was good enough and we just tossed a few extra bucks on the table...more when warranted!!

Also, with 12, you are only SUPPOSED to get the discount for 10. We always got it for the whole table.

We often had different persons other than the one on the card pay. No problem. Also, I presented the card most of the time and it has my DH name on it. They never asked.
