Do you have to show your AP, everytime you use the DDE Card? And if so, does the DDE Card have the specific AP # on it?

Here's the situation I'm looking at. DH & I each are going to have an AP. We plan to put the DDE Card in my name as I will be making 1 solo trip. I'm wondering what if we use 1 AP voucher to get the card, then when we actually travel and activate our APs, I end up with the one that wasn't used to order the card. Will they compare numbers and will it cause a problem?

Does that makes sense? ;) Thanks for any info.

I don't remember them checking APs at meals with the DDE card.

I just asked dh as he is the one who pays, and he said he has never been asked to show his ap - does that help??

I don't remember ever having to show my AP, but one time at the Pop Century Food Court, I had to show my driver's license.

We were never asked once for our AP. Since you have to have it in order to purchase the DDE card, I don't think they care. And even if they did, I don't think there's anything on the card saying which AP was used to purchase the card. I've even heard of people who had AP's when they bought the DDE card, but then went back for another trip where they didn't have AP's and were still able to use the card. You shouldn't have any trouble.

Also, don't they give you a second card for your spouse for free? I could go check our lanyards, but I'm too lazy to get up right now. :surfweb:

They give you a second card in whatever name you specify. Initially, a few years back, there was some speculation about whether it had to be a spouse but I was told that was due to wording in an older brochure and they didn't ask who the other person was as long as they resided at the same address.

I have never been asked to show my AP or any ID but it does say you should be prepared to present it with your card for the discount and we do always have it with us.

Just used mine at least almost a dozen times in June. Never had to show my AP.

I wonder if you would have to show your AP or some kind of id if you were paying with cash though?

Camcolt, if you're worried about it why not just put a mark on the voucher that you use to order the DDE?

We have also been asked to show a picture ID at Pop.

In addition, starting this year, not only the price of the DDE card went from $50 to $60 now, the spouse card is no longer free. There is a $25 fee if you want to add a spouse card, so folks who are renewing or new, need to decide who's name is going to be on the card. Keep in mind that in most cases, that person needs to use the card. Like Rudy6 we have been asked for a picture ID on several occassions recently. And in Septmber while at the food court, my daughter tried to use my card, because I was too tired to get up from the table to get something. The CM would not let her and asked for an ID....of course I had to get up and show my ID, especially at Pop. We will be renewing in September (or getting a new membership) so will not be getting the spouse card. Seems kind of silly to charge for the second card, but who knows why they are doing it this way now.

The reason they are charging for the second card now is because too many people were splitting the membership between two separate parties (neighbors/friends/etc) vs. husband/wife. Also, I believe it has gained in popularity over the last couple of years, so more and more people are getting the card.

Thanks everyone! That makes me feel better. :)

And yes, n2mm is correct, there is now a $25.00 fee for a spouses card, so we are only getting one.

BCV23, I'm not sure if my AP is going to be name specific when I get it as I'm not sure exactly how I am getting it (long story). But I dont have it yet and I want to order the DDE Monday. So thats where my dilemma is coming in. I want to order DDE with DH's voucher, but have it in my name. We may both end up having vouchers that are interchangeable, but I'm not sure of that yet.

BCV23: We paid cash at Olivias using DDE and they never asked to see anything.
Always have my drivers license handy tho--JUST in case!!

You need at AP tpo buy the DDE, but not to use it, if you buy DDE towards the end of the AP's time then the DDE is still valid for the entoire year. YOu may be asked to show ID, but not asked for the annual pass.

You probably have an honest face! ;)

You know I never carry my drivers license in the parks. I wonder how many women do?

I put my drivers license in DH's wallet everytime---I left my license at home while on vacation once years ago, thinking I wouldn't need it, & it turned out I did need it for something after all. Never again!

I never brought my lisence with me until I got my first AP 3 years ago and thought I may need it. I was actually asked for it, getting into the parks a few times.

That is a great idea for most woman I bet. However, I am almost always the errand runner at WDW and I know that I would forget to retrieve it from his wallet before I went on my merry way.

Camcolt, I have never run into that...yet. Sounds like I should start carrying it!

That's why we both carry cellphones. ;) However, for our Disney trips, I recently bought this:

& it's worked out great so far since I do carry my cellphone, license & CCs with me. I use the longer strap to drape it across my body.

Everywhere else though, I still use DH. I guess there's a reason why he refers to the wallet as "our wallet". :rotfl:

We do too but that wouldn't solve the problem. What would most likely happen to me is that I would get my little mini bag with AP, KTTW, credit cards out of the day bag that he totes for us, transfer them to my purse and drive off without remembering he has the license. If I needed it while driving  , a cellphone would not help even though I always have that with me.

Cute bag BTW.
