My DDE card expires before my AP does (I ordered it last year using a voucher), and before our next trip to the World. Can I renew the card with the same AP? We do not plan to get new APs this year. Thanks to anyone that might be able to answer this question.

I am in kind of the same position and from what I have been able to learn as long as you have a valid AP or voucher at the time of ordering you can renew the DDE. The requirement is for a valid AP or voucher to order not to use the DDE unless this has changed very recently this was my understanding of the rules.

They only ask (sometimes) for a photo ID. They don't state that you need to show your AP when using. We're in the same situation.

I ordered my renewal DDE just before my last AP expired. It was a lot less expensive than just using the Florida Resident rates and I was letting my AP lapse.

So does this mean that your DDE card starts the day you order it?? We plan to order AP vouchers but not activate them until our August trip this year. We plan to fit a trip in next August as well. If we get the vouchers and then order the DDE card, the DDE card would expire before our next 2007 trip??

Yes, your DDE card starts from the date you order it. I looked at mine a few days ago (getting ready for next trip), and the expiration date printed on it is the last day of the month in which I ordered it. It looks like they gave me that little "grace period" till the end of the month. If you want your AP and DDE to run very close together, you can get the AP voucher and then order the DDE a few days before your first trip--pick up the temporary DDE letter at EPCOT Guest Relations when you arrive.

It is not like AP where you can buy the voucher but it doesn't start till you activate it.

Yes, the requirement to purchase the DDE is a valid AP at the time of purchase---so if your AP is going to expire, you can still use it to purchase a new DDE right up to the day it expires!

We haven't been asked for any ID for the past year now so I wouldn't worry about not having an active AP.

You do not have to have an active AP to use the card. Don't forget it is also available to any Florida Resident.

However, to get the card you must give either a Florida ID or DL number or the serial number from your AP or voucher. They have access to the ATS computer so they can tell what kind of a ticket you are giving the number for.
