DDE Policy Change!!!

I just got off the phone with DDE and they will no longer email you a confirmation letter that you can use in the park before your card arrives. I was told that the letter will be at the Guest Services Desk at Epcot and i have to pick it up there. I told the CM that I am not planning on going to Epcot. I am staying at the GF and dinning there and MK only.
I have early morning PS and arriving late the night before, so no time to go to Epcot. Asked if I could get the letter at the GF, she said that they are no longer allowed to do that, but that she would take the letter over to the GF herself for me.
Has anyone who ordered recently been told this, I thought I could get the email confirmation to use before the card arrived but apparentley they have changed their policy????
 
Here is the email letter I received:

Dear Robin and Charles Kress,

Greetings from the Disney Dining Experience!

We have received your membership request via fax or mail and will be processing your application shortly. Due to the high volume of applicants, it will take about 4-6 weeks to receive your cards in the mail. In the meantime, you will be receiving a confirmation letter placing you in good standing at your home shortly.

If you plan on visiting the Walt Disney World Resort within the next two weeks, please reply to this email, with your arrival date. We will have a letter of confirmation awaiting you at Epcot Guest Relations outside of the main entrance of the park. The letter will insure that you have all the privileges of a Disney Dining Experience Member during your stay.

Thank you for your understanding, and if you have any further questions, you may call us at 407-566-5858. Our office hours are Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
 
There was another thread on this a couple of days ago. I ordered mine on April 1st and got the email within 10 minutes. I think they just stopped sending the emails maybe last Friday. I still don't know if they are honoring the emails that people already have.
 
I'm not at all surprised. I thought it was pretty dumb that they were sending word docs (so easily altered) in the first place. At least do pdfs... most people only have Acrobat Reader and can't edit pdfs.
 

I started the last thread on this last Friday. If you have an Email they will still take it. It should have an expiration date on it. This was according to the lady I spoke with.

Also, EPCOT GS in the front of the park is the only place you can pick-up your temporary card. No other GS will be able to help you.

That is not good since we are at YC and can't get to the front of the park without entering it. Guess I will have to re think what we can do for our trip. I hope we can get it in time but I don't think so. I wonder if they can fax something to your resort prior to coming :earsgirl:

I ordered my DDE on Monday of this week and received the same information as you and will be picking my DDE up at Epcot if it doesn't arrive before our May trip. I am just thankful that this discounting is available! We can really use the 20% discount.

I ordered my card yesterday and was told that a letter confirmation would be mailed to my house for me to use until I got my actual card. I was never told anything about picking up a temporary card at Epcot. So hopefully the letter will be like the old emails so I don't have to make a special trip to Epcot.

I was told the same thing - Letter will be "mailed". She had asked *when* I was coming to WDW (June) so the card may or may not arrive in time: "about 8 weeks" - but I will have the letter, just in case! :banana:
 
I talked on the phone to DDE yesterday. They e-mailed my confirmation letter within ten minutes of my order.
 
Okay I am going to buy the AP on Friday, but can I order my DDE right after with the number they give me when I buy it over the phone or do I have to wait till I get the voucher and give DDE my number on it. I am about 9 wks till our trip and would like to get the card before I go. Going to Epcot would be hard since we were going to use it when we get to the YC for B&C after we check in.

I heard that people were abusing the email letters, like given them to other people that really didn't have an AP.

I wish people wouldn't try and get around the system because they ruin it for everyone when they do this.

Mar91 - if you have an AP, which you have to for this, why can't you just use that to go through Epcot to the front gate?
 
That is not a problem, it just will take alot of time that day and only my mom has the AP so she will have to go alone...and she is pretty slow with walking. The only problem was that right after we checked in we were going to B&C for lunch...so I guess we will have to wait till she gets back.
