I purchased an AP which I will first start using in November. Since this is a solo trip, I only have on TS breakfast planned and don't really need to use the DDE.

I do want to have it for the girls only trip with DM in May (9 nights). If I wait to purchase it in May, will it be good through May 2010 even in my AP expires in November 2009? Would I be allowed to use it if I let my AP expire? I am not sure yet if I would renew the AP...probably will, just wondering in case I don't.

Maybe it would be easiest to just purchase it in November?
Thanks!!!

Yes, you can still use the DDE after your AP expires because for every meal you want to get the DDE discount, you only show the DDE card, not the AP.

I would wait to purchase it in May, unless you suddenly plan on eating more TS in November.

Our DDE card is good for 13 months after the day we got it. We got it one day after we activated our APs.

Both cards have "valid through" dates on them, so you'll know for a fact how long you are able to use them.

I too have some qualms over getting a DDE. I'm just one, and tho I often have someone join me, if I'm solo, I just don't go out to eat all that much.
Also, I'm not sure when I'll get back...this is the 3rd trip on my pass which will expire 4 days after I leave this trip...and who knows when I'll be able to plan another trip, especially with crazy airfares and such.

Alternatively, we are eating at V & A s this trip...so that pretty much covers the cost right there!

Decisions , decisions!

How many are doing V&A? If you are doing the wine pairing with at least two people, that should pretty much do it. And for solo dining, I've always wanted to dine at some of the open kitchen viewing areas like at Jiko and CG, so the DDE would save there too, plus it covers valet parking. FWIW.
