Just returned from our 9-day trip. So sad that it is over. I'll post some dining reviews tomorrow when I have more time, but I just wanted to say that the Disney Dining Experience really saved us money. We usually eat in sit-down restaurants for dinner every night and 1 or 2 breakfasts/lunches. So when I heard about the DDE card I thought it might be a good value for us. It's my first time as an AP holder so I ordered it. I even received my card before I left (ordered the card on Oct5th per DDE advice to get best expiration) and the card arrived on October 29th! I've just added up all my little notes on savings, we saved $207.01 in total! This includes several meals where we had my parents along so we saved for them also! For the $50 it costs, what deal it is! And we are planning a short trip in April and another trip next October/November so this card will really save us a lot by the end of the year! Just wanted to share the info!

We're heading to Disney for Christmas, and even though you can't use the DDE card on Christmas day or for special packages, we still figured we would save enough money to make the $50 purchase price worth while. :earsgirl:

I agree, Elaine...we're going down for Christmas but have purchased because I don't plan on cooking at all (staying in BWV) and I'll be sitting down to be served quite frequently. And will be enjoying several cocktails at 20% off too!

Ok, what is a DDE Card? Is it the dining plan you can get when booking a trip?

I've used my DDE on 2 trips since getting it in June. It has more than paid for the $50.00 it cost. I will definitely be renewing it when I renew my AP.
iluvdizknee, The Disney Dining Experience card is available to Florida residents and AP holders. It gives you a 20% discount on many of the table service and counter service restaurants. I actually recouped my $50.00 on our trip in June, so our trip in October was pure savings! Here's the link to it, www.disney.dining.experience@disney.com :cheer2:

A DDE is the Disney Dining Experience card....it is available to Annual Pass holders from any state or Florida residents only. AP holders pay $50 for the card and Florida residents pay $75 if they are NOT AP holders. The card then allows the holder to receive a 20% discount at most table service restaurants at WDW resort. The 20% discount also includes any alcoholic beverages which most discount programs do not allow.

Okay, what phone number do I call to get this card? Will the CM be able to tell me when to order it so that it comes in time for our trip yet still has the latest possible expiration date? We leave Jan. 3, does anyone have any advice on when to order the card?

407-566-5858. You'll need your AP # (or voucher#) when you call--.
It takes a month (more or less) for your card to arrive--ours was a bit over 3 weeks.

While you are waiting for the card to arrive, you can usually go to the Guest Services outside the front of Epcot and pick up a letter that will allow you to get the discount without the card.

Thanks for the info all. I live in NJ so I guess it is not for me. I am always looking for discounts when visiting WDW, and I thought this was one I was missing out on. :flower:

The DDE card is great! We just used it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it already paid for itself and then some.

We ordered our DDE card 10/21 and received it 11/12. It has a expiration date of 11/30/06. Looking forward to using it on trips at Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break, school year end and Thanksgiving next year. As well as any weekends we can pull off in between.

Sounds like you really made the card work for you! I'll be getting it for our trip, and I'm very excited about the savings it'll provide!

Do you have to show your AP along with the card when you use it? I don't always like to carry my AP/tickets everywhere if we are not planning on heading to a park that day...??

Why can't you get it? Are you an annual pass holder? I live in Massachusetts and I have one. Whenever I go to Disney, I use the card, and it saves oodles of $$$.

Is there a telephone number that I can buy an AP and get the voucher number over the phone to buy the DDE card. I usually buy mine at the Epcot window when we arrive but I want to order this card asap so I thoughtI would buy my AP voucher tomorrow. Thanks :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
