Is the card valid from the time you order it or from the first date of use?

Hi Florence, it's valid from when you order it. I ordered mine at the beginning of May and it is valid through to the 31/05/07

Yo tend to get 13 months on it rather than 12 though (depending on when you order it) as they run through till the end of the month - for example if I order one now it will run till the end of July 2007 rather than 8th July 2007

How long does the card take to arrive?

I renewed mine recently and this is the email response I received (within about half an hour of faxing the application):

June 20, 2006

Dear Debbie,

Greetings from the Disney Dining Experience!

We have received your membership application and will be processing your application shortly. Due to the high volume of applicants, it will take about 3-5 weeks to receive your cards in the mail.

If you plan on visiting the Walt Disney World Resort within the next three weeks, please reply to this email, with your arrival date. We will have a temporary card awaiting you at Epcot Guest Relations outside of the main entrance of the park. If this authorization is needed during the weekend please contact our office before 3:30 p.m. on Friday to ensure your request is processed. The temporary card will only be produced if you request it before arrival and will insure that you have all the privileges of a Disney Dining Experience Member during your stay.

Thank you for your understanding, and if you have any further questions, you may call us at 407-566-5858. Our office hours are Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The 20% discount for the Disney Dining Experience is limited to selected table service restaurants and lounges at the Walt Disney World Resort. Privileges are not for any quick service restaurant or food carts. This email is only a confirmation of your received application and does not entitle recipient to Disney Dining Experience membership privileges. Black out dates for Disney Dining card are Easter (4/17/06), Mothers Day (5/14/06), Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day . The Disney Dining Experience Membership card is valid for 1 year, the validation period starts the day the order is placed.

I haven't received the card yet.

Don't forget, though, that you can't order a DDE card if you have carried out any acts of moral turpitude, or eaten at a Denny's during a previous trip, no matter how long ago. And they will know - their little spy thing will tell them. You have been warned!
