DDE before Annual Pass Activation?

I'm interested in purchasing the DDE membership to use during our Jan09 and Oct09 trips. We have AP vouchers we received when we purchased DVC and won't be activating until we arrive at WDW in Jan. How will that work? The site says we'll need to allow 2-3 weeks processing of the DDE application. Would we have to activate our AP's in Dec? How would we even do that? We live in California...

Disney has made it easier to get the DDE card.

"As of November 12, 2008, the Disney Dining Experience card can be purchased at a Disney Guest Service location. Annual Passholders and/or Florida Residents will need to provide proof of eligibility."

You should be able to get your DDE right after your AP while at WDW.
