Allears is reporting that APers and FL residents will be able to purchase DDE memberships at GS starting 11/12. Very nice I think! :thumbsup2 An AP or proof of FL residency is required.

And of course, DVCers will need their membership card if trying to purchase discounted APs at the same time as the DDE.

Of course! That would be because I just mailed my DDE application in YESTERDAY to get the DDE card for our December trip. :lmao: I could have gotten it when we go to GS to activate my husband's AP. Oh, well.

That will certainly make things easier for a lot of people. Thanks for the info!!

Nice feature. Trying to figure out the timing for ordering that thing was always sort of a PITA. Thanks for the info BCV.

That is great news! One less thing for me to accidentally overlook as our trips approach.

So, I now don't have to fill out and fax my DDE application for January right? I just go to guest services on the day I arrive and am able to get one to use that day?

Although Allears may be reporting this on their website, we have not seen any official word on it yet from Disney. So if you are traveling and are not sure how to proceed, I would suggest giving WDW a call to see if anything official has been announced yet.

Thanks BCV23 for sharing with us...

I applied by phone yesterday for our Dec trip, and was told if the card didn't arrive in time (though it probably would), we could pick it up "at any theme park". I pointed out this was a change from the usual procedure, and was told "we're changing all that". Thanks for clarifying!

DIS home has the info as well.

Inkmahm, isn't that the way it sometimes goes?:confused3

Erik, thanks for the confirmation.

Happy planning everyone!

Currently, it is $65 for the first card for APers and $25 for an additional card for a spouse.

FL resident rate is a bit higher...$80 maybe????

Wow...maybe they read these posts! I complained about this last week.....probably a coincidence in timing... :scratchin

Inkmahm, one other thought. Maybe it will have worked out well for you to have ordered by phone. Your DHs DDE will expire 12/31/08? It wouldn't surprise me if the ones available at GS expire a year after purchase just like APs purchased there. You may have gotten a few more days/weeks.

I guess we'll know in a few more days.

Now we just need them to allow DVC members to buy it, in addition to AP holders and FL residents.

Yes that would be nice. In the meanwhile, it may be to your advantage to buy an AP for this purpose alone, depending on the size of your party.

Let's suppose you go to WDW once a year for 7 park days. (If you go for more than one trip or for more than 10 park days, getting an AP is a no-brainer.) Due to the pricing of MYW tickets, the actual number of park days is not that important.

The cost of a 7-day expiring adult park-hopper pass is roughly $280. A DVC adult AP is $370, $90 more. Added to the $65 fee, the DDE is costing you $155. That means if you spend $800 or more on TS dining, you will come out ahead. Admittedly it isn't worth the trouble unless your TS dining considerably exceeds this amount. It isn't diffcult to spend this much on dining if you do a lot of TS meals with four or more. I have budgeted $1200 for our family of four for 8 days, and we are likely to exceed that.

But if you go at the same time each year, your card can be used for two trips! They are good for 13 months, so (our scenario) if you buy one in Nov for Dec 07, it will be good until the end of Dec 08. And of course if you are clever about timing your trips, your APs can be good for both trips as well, making them a good deal without even considering the DDE card.
