DDE \ AP Voucher.

My DW & I are new members. Just purchased at AKV. We will be purchasing AP's with our DVC member discount. We will be sent vouchers from what I have read and we can activate them the first time we go to the parks.

My questions is .. .. Can we also get the DDE added on as soon as we receive our vouchers or do we have to wait until we actually activate the AP?

I like to pre-plan everything and would like to have the DDE all lined up before our trip.

Not a big problem I am just a little obsessed with my pre-planning.

Yes, you can order DDE using the numbers on the green AP vouchers they send you. We did exactly this last year.

Keep in mind that while the AP "clock" starts when you first activate it, the DDE starts when you receive it...usually about 12 1/2 months worth. So while it is good to get it in advance, I'd try to time it a little closer to your trip just in case you'd like to use it for more than one trip.

One other tip. If you wait until the 10th of a month or so to order, you will get an extra month before expiration as opposed to ordering before that date. I found that they were very helpful in advising about this while I was on the phone...the CM actually advised me to call back two days later to get the extra month!

Yes, you can order the DDE card with just the AP voucher. Once you order the card, it usually expires 13 months from when you order so plan your order so that you can get the most use from the card.

And don't forget that the DDE isn't just for restaurants, it works in the lounges too. The best mojito I've ever had was at the Victoria Falls lounge at AKL. And I got a 20% discount too!

Thanks for the tip, Granny! We are going July 15. Should I call for the DDE on the 10th of July or June?

It can take 2-4 weeks to receive the card, sometimes a bit longer. If you want the card before you go, order it in June and you should get it just in time for your trip. Your expiration date will be July 31, 2008.

If you wanted an expiration date of Aug 31, 2008 (say you have a trip planned for Aug '08) you could order it in July. You won't receive your card before your trip but the DDE office will leave a temporary card for you to pick up at the front of Epcot when you get to WDW. I would only do this if you absolutely needed that extra month.
