DDE and letter voucher??

I ordered the DDE today and since we're going to be in Disney on 5/31, I'm figuring I won't have the card in time. The CM I spoke with said I'd have a letter in the mail in a few days and that I could use the letter to get the DDE discounts if my card did not arrive in time.

Has anyone tried this at a restaurant? I've been reading here that I will need to pick up my DDE card at Epcot guest services so I'm wondering if this CM had her story straight. Can anyone help?

I was there just a couple of weeks ago. All the restaurants that we went to honored the letter (I got the email before they changed it to mailing it). I stopped by Epcot's Guest Services and all they were going to give me was the same letter I already had (not a temp card). Don't worry the letter you will receive will be enough. I fretted and stopped at Epcot because I was convinced that Ohana's (first restaurant we used it at) was not going to take it. Even their lounge took it with no problem. Have a great trip.

I'm new to all of this Disney excitement. What is a DDE??? I don't want to miss out on anything. I'm going the end of June.

I am unaware anyone can pick up a DDE card at Epcot.
Last Saturday I had to pick up what is basically an extension of the e-mail letter I received in March.
Same letter, different dates.

shakespeare: DDE - Disney Dining Experience. You can buy this card which entitles you to 20% off dining at certain restaurants & counterservices is you are either a FL resident or AP holder.

Luv2Roam: If your trip is scheduled for less than 2 weeks from when you call in to purchase the card. They cannot guarantee the letter will arrive prior to your trip. So they will tell you to pick up a letter at EPCOT GR. Not an actual card, just a letter.

Our card expired 4/30/05, we were at the PSB on 5/1 with the letter and it was fine.

I picked up the letter 4-25. I ordered the DDE card 4-18. I used the letter at 5 restraunts and just made sure I showed them my photo id/drivers license. In fact one cm said he didnt even want to see the letter. O.K. I showed it anyway.
