We are eating at 1900 Park Faire one night and going to the Boardwalk for an Illuminations cruise another night.....

Has anyone had a problem with the free valet parking that you recieve with the DDE card? I thought I read a few months back that people were having a difficult time getting the valet to honor it?

How does it work...drive up....hand over keys....show card....come back after dinner with ticket (tip valet) and just get your car?

Sorry....cant get the edit button to work.

Is the valet restricted to certain resorts or will it work for the Animal Kingdom Lodge also?

We have not yet encountered a problem with the Valet parking using DDE card.

Yes, it is driveup - present card, eat - then present card with restaurant receipt and your car will come, lol.

I know it is good for Animal Kingdom Lodge and 1900 Park Fare. Not so sure about Illuminations Cruise. Have fun!

Thanks Coriander!! :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: Say Hi to Out for me.

We did have a problem with valet parking at the GF using our DDE card. We had gone there for dinner at Narcoossees. Showed our DDE card on arrival and departure (along with the receipt) and were not charged for parking. BUT, when we went to check-out a few days later there was a charge on our bill. The front desk promptly removed it. Check your bill before you leave.

We bought our DDE in March at DTD, the CM said free valet at resorts so when we went to Boma at AKL one morning we valeted...only to be told we had to pay....I said no we have the DDE and showed it to them but they said we had to pay. This also happened at the Poly. After that we just parked the car ourselves and walked in.

We are going back to Boma in just under 2 weeks and I am going to speak to the head valet guy and make sure I get it for free

So is the free valet parking only good if you are eating at the resort.....we're going to tour some of them for the Christmas decor, we'll probably eat at one of them, but not all of them!

All the problems with valet parking and the DDE began when they outsourced valet parking. They are not WDW employees. The way it should work is that you valet park and then go to eat. When you leave the restaurant, you present your DDE card and the meal receipt. There should then be no charge for valet parking (absent any tip, of course).
But problems continue. Like OKW LOVER, we found valet parking charges on our room bill when we checked out. Seems the valet service scans your resort (your own resort ) parking pass and then waits until the last day of your vacation to add the charges, hoping you won't notice and maybe even left WDW before you realized what happened. But we DID notice, and the front desk at OKW was only too happy to remove the charge, adding that they see this all the time.
And if Mickeyniki actually ate at Boma and a restaurant at the Poly, valet parking should have been free. What she was told was WRONG.

Okay its great to know that it SHOULD be free and for at least some of my reservations we wont even be staying onsite yet so they will not be able to scan a resort parking pass to charge.

great reminder to always check your bill on the way out, also a good reason to put your parking certificate away

Hmmm maybe the people had a problem because they weren't tipping. I've never heard of it being an issue.

Nope. That's not the reason. We tip $2.00 when we drop off the car, and again when we pick it up. And besides--that really should make no difference anyway.
There were a # of threads on the boards about this very problem some time back, when outsourcing first took over valet parking. The "explanation" was that they were new and probably didn't understand all of Disney's procedures. I doubted that then--and it certainly can't be true now.

Just to add - yes, you do have to eat at the resort where you park. You need to show your dining receipt to get your car.

Any problems, just ask to see a supervisor or someone at the front desk. They can sort it out.

Hi Mint! Out say hi and hugs:hug:

ACK - I would think that $300 plus tip for an Illuminations Cruise would count toward the Free Valet Parking as much as eating dinner somewhere on the Boardwalk or the Beach/Yacht Club....

Anyone know for sure? How far is parking at the Beach/Yacht Club to walk....sometimes my husband gets really tired and achy (sp?) by the end of the day....

Do you get a dining discount on the Illuminations Cruise? I think the free valet parking is given as a perk when you use the card, not just for anything at the resort.
