DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Because they can. Maybe that's why I don't want to fly if I can drive. I deal with railroads every day and they're exactly the same way. I mean, ok, you don't have a crew to put on my cars. I don't care if they're sitting in Valdosta, GA for a week, but if they're going to sit there for a week, just freaking tell me. Don't tell me they'll move in 4 hours, then in 4 hours tell me they'll move tomorrow night, then tomorrow night, tell me they'll move the next morning. Just tell me they are going to sit for a week.

In case you couldn't figure out, I've got 95 cars that have been sitting in Valdosta for what will be a week this afternoon. So they will probably non-stop them to us to load just in time for the 3 day weekend. :headache: :faint:
Well, that's just lovely. I agree--just be honest. Don't keep building up false hopes only to dash them time and time again.

Still alive...
It beats the alternative!

How is the rest of the family doing?

Hey, guys! Haven't been feeling well lately so I've been sleeping in late, and waking up in time to get ready for work and head out. I should point out that I've had a sinus infection and have been fighting that for a while. Just sayin'. Anyways, I took yesterday off for a doctors appointment, and there I was sitting in my chair watching TV waiting when my DW and DD come walking back in from school. I looked at them, and being a bit of a smart a**, said "It's been a while since I've been in school, but I think you're supposed more than an hour." My DW said, "We tested positive for COVID." Me: "Oh! Well, that changes things." My DD was pretty upset, and I couldn't hug her because I was going to have to quarantine from her and my DW. So I called my doctor's office and and told them I had been exposed to COVID and cancelled my appointment and went to get a COVID test....and tested positive. So here I sit, having cleaned my office, and getting some medical coding books tabbed and ready for studying, waiting for my quarantine period to end. I did got a call from my manager this morning, and apparently someone told the office I worked at on Monday and Tuesday that I had tested positive for COVID and now they're mad/upset. Like I knew ahead of time I had it. If I had known earlier I wouldn't have gone into work. Well, it is what it is. Now I wait. Now the big question is: At the end of the 5 day quarantine period, will all members of my family still be talking to each other? That is the question. :teeth:

Sorry to hear that and... Welcome to the club.

DD21 is recovering
DD25 is feeling worse
SWMBO is the only one not sick. I think she might have already had it.
Two out of three ain't bad. Hang in there!

So I called my doctor's office and and told them I had been exposed to COVID and cancelled my appointment and went to get a COVID test....and tested positive.
Ugh. I'm logging off before you guys infect me through the computer.

Clearly you should have just not gone to work. That would have gone over much better.

Do expletives count?

Sorry to hear that. When you said they walked back in, I was thinking you were going to say you fell asleep and had been asleep the whole day.

With work, tell them they can be mad...it's not as if you KNEW you had it and went into work anyway.

Sorry. Hope everyone recovers quickly.

Morning, folks.

Feeling (maybe) a bit better this morning? The ringing in my ears is really bugging me though.
It's Friday, right? Happy Friday then. Just another day (buried in snow) in paradise here.

Morning, Gents! Star of day 2 of quarantine and all is well in the house.

Ugh. I'm logging off before you guys infect me through the computer.

Before you log off, wanna hug?

Clearly you should have just not gone to work. That would have gone over much better.

And had I known I was positive earlier in the week I wouldn't have gone to work.
Do expletives count?

Uhhhh....sure.

Sorry to hear that and... Welcome to the club.
Yep. Just like you. Why I said "Welcome to the club."

Boy, did I read that wrong. I thought you were welcoming me to the DisDads forum because it had been a while since I've been in.

Thanks

Hope you are all better soon.

Thanks

Sorry to hear that. When you said they walked back in, I was thinking you were going to say you fell asleep and had been asleep the whole day.

This is so funny you mentioned me sleeping because I was taking a nap in my chair when they walked in.  I had not slept well the night before, so I was exhausted and had to take a nap.

With work, tell them they can be mad...it's not as if you KNEW you had it and went into work anyway.

EXACTLY! If I had known, I wouldn't have gone into work. I'm not worried about it because I did nothing wrong, even my manager said as such.

Sorry. Hope everyone recovers quickly.

Thanks.

Glad you're feeling better, and sorry for the ringing in the ear. And yes, it is Friday....I think.

Evening Gentlemen (I use that term loosely),

We got home from Disney last Sunday night and I am finally getting caught up from being gone a week. After our experience with JetBlue just getting to Florida (well JFK really), we were nervous about getting home. It was mostly uneventful although they did damage DW's suitcase beyond repair. Of course, we didn't notice it until after we got home and checked the next day, so they won't do anything about it. JetBlue has a nice product with the planes and service, but I have not been impressed with the customer service. I had heard nothing but good things about them before but now I am not sure I will ever use them again. Unfortunately, the choices from PDX are limited.

When we left Florida last Sunday, it was a perfect 72F and sunny. When I woke up on Monday, there was 2" of snow - the first time it has snowed here in April, ever. Since then, we have had rain, hail, more snow, more hail, and more rain. I need to get my vegetable garden planted but the weather is not cooperating.

Had a good time at Disney. We took our time and did a lot of things we usually skip like the movies in Canada (I think I saw your house pkondz) and China. The Kid found a dagger in the China shop she just HAD to have and was even willing to buy it with her own money. We had an awesome skipper on the Jungle Cruise who told some new jokes; I learned the Boa Constrictor is 24 feet long, but only 23 when it is cold outside.

Went to my annual Cardiologist appointment today (why yes, I am rather young to have a pacemaker). All is well, but he wants me to have a stress test. I have no desire to run on a treadmill until I collapse. I have a policy of not running unless I'm being chased by a bear, and even then, I only have to be faster than the other person.

Well, now I must go teach The Kid about logarithmic functions ...

.... That stress test is starting to look good about now.

Sounds kinda familiar.

And here I thought it'd be more like George Costanza and it would be like 2 feet long and have to say but it was cold!!!!

You may already do this, but in case you don't...trust how your body and especially your chest feels and make sure you make your doctor listen to you.

Why do I say this?

A doctor not listening killed my son. No, that's not exaggeration.

He had had pacemakers since he was a child. He got a new pacemaker. He kept telling the doctor it didn't feel right and aomething was wrong. The doctor kept doing diagnostics on.the PM and.kept saying it's working fine. He wouldn't listen to my son that it didn't feel right in his chest. When they finally took him to the hospital and opened him up, the area around the PM was so infected, he ended up getting sepsis and was gone a day and a half later.

Sorry to hear that Doc, may he Rest In Peace.
