DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Good that you got details for the hit-n-run yahoo, but that's a whole lot of crappy for just one day. Let's not be doing that again any time soon.
I'd be okay with not doing it again.
Geez. Take the rest of the weekend off. Tell your boss I said it was ok.
Actually... I am. Just finished my last shift of the week. Not back until Tuesday.
Sorry you had that load of crap dumped in our lap. Hope things get better for you soon.
I hope so too. Just going to call the cops in about 2 more minutes, then hit the sack. That should be good.
Oh man....so sorry.

While it could be worse, I'm not sure how.
Glad someone got the plate.
Yeah, me too. I don't actually mind so much if I have to pay the insurance deductible... it's the time I'm going to have to go without the bike while it's in the shop. But I am glad (hopefully) if the jerk who hit it, gets a nice fine.

Morning Gents.

Nice morning here today but I'm taking my time getting going. Having a coffee while watching the F1 practice. Bit of yard work to do later. I can't get my chainsaw to start but I did get my buck saw fixed so I will have to use that to clean up some branches on a tree that fell.

Last day with students for DW, the end of the year can't come soon enough. It's been a trying year and even though she will be home with me ;) she is due for a much needed break.

Have a good one all.

Mind if I interrupt the gravy train?

I've not had a very good day today.
Started out okay, had some good parts, but feeling kinda low right now.

Sorry about to hear about that, hope the police can find him.

bechamel that troubles you most
bechamel aint gravy

Gravy shouldn't look like someone puked in the pan.
Yes it should. Thats southern breakfast gravy, it glues your biscuits together so you dont chase crumbs across your plate.

This is what gravy should look like.
Not for breakfast. Thats for meat like turkey or a roast. Not biscuits

Sorry for venting. Just needed to let it out.
Vent away dude, sorry your day took a dump on you.
Never again. Never! Again!
LOL I noticed you said that out of earshot of the wife. Cause it will happen again. Probably the day after your guest leave, if not tomorrow.

It's the English to English translation...doesn't always translate correctly.
Yeah, syntax on the universal translator must be off. If only those English people would learn to speak American.

It's a base sauce, and gravy is pretty much a sauce.
Sausage/Saw-Mill/Southern/Breakfast gravy has similar aspects being basically a white sauce thickened with a roux.
Its a butter and flour roux with nutmeg and onions. Gravy starts with pan drippins/lard/grease and flour roux. Its all about the fat baby :D.

And just to stir the pot a bit. Calling bechamel gravy is like calling a hot dog a sandwich. :stir:

Well a hot dog is a sandwich if you cut it in half and put it on two slices of bread. :lmao:

Just got off the phone with them. (Was on hold for over an hour this morning and about 45 minutes this afternoon.)
Apparently they don't do anything. The insurance company will contact the owner and have him pay the deductible. I don't know if it will also result in higher insurance premiums and/or points on his license.
bechamel aint gravy
Correct. (IMHO)

Thanks. Wasn't the best day ever.

ooooooohhh...
I find it amusing when people write web articles when they're high.

Happy Friday. It's been a rough day, drawing an early AM match that I couldn't wake up for. Loss the match playing the owner/ pro of a tennis club. Yeah, played well and overmatched, but it's still a loss. Team is 1-1, and matches tomorrow.

But, DW said that there were several house showings today and more scheduled for tomorrow.

Afternoon Dads! Looks like status quo around here. Some good looking stuff announced this morning for WDW 50th Celebration. Stay safe out there gents.

Hope things calm down for you in a bit. Hope you enjoyed Father's Day at least and make sure to carve out some time for that little one.

Love Al Bundy!

Sounds like things are moving along with the move. Tennis tournament for you or DD?

This tennis tournament is for me.

They grow up so fast. Don't let is pass you by.

It must be in your mailbox with all the dole whips.
It was a blast, just wish it had been below 100. Its hot under a welding hood.

Sure. That's what they all say.

Uh-huh! Actually, I think it was deliberate on her part. One of the regulars that works there said that she wished I'd come back because they are behind on a lot of work, admin type stuff. I was thinking, but didn't say it, "Yeah, so does every other office. The fact there were floats here for two days, while still having a full staff, meant you should have gotten a big chunk taken out of that admin work." But I didn't say it. There are a lot offices in the same boat and they all work on it a little at a time. So me thinks it was deliberate.

Yeah, let the wife cook.

Congrats on the unofficial offer, that's great! Plus you'd get towards your clinical license? That awesome. Now comes the decision....sorry about that part.

Thanks. I think the main factor now is it is my daughter's senior year of HS. With my current job, I could be off for every match. If I take the new job, then i may be stuck working to 5:30 PM on match days and miss all of them. It may be that I have to wait a year before doing so and hope I get the offer again.

Re-counted and it was 11 times, but only 3 in the last 24 years. So yes, 8 in the first 10 years. The military will do that.

On a different note...just got back from a couple days at Vero beach. Nice break, but 2 days isn't enough. With checkin and checkout, more like 1 1/2 days.

Vero Beach sounds terrific. Maybe next year.

I'm pretty sure my wife it trying to kill us when she has to cook. So I do all the cooking. My DD cooks her own dinner when she doesn't want what I'm making.

It makes a difference when she learns the smoke alarm isn't the oven timer?

Morning boys, we are officially on the downhill side of the week. Only 1 meeting with the engineers today to see if the city will let us build one of our new branches. (Its located in an environmentally sensitive area) Just because there is an existing building on the site doesn't mean we can tear it down and put up a new one. Then I get to sit back in the AC the rest of this week to handle pricing out LED upgrades on a couple of older buildings.

That I gotta hear

Why do I get the feeling that what I picture when you say biscuits and gravy is not what you mean when you say biscuits and gravy.

Biscuits n gravy is delicious. Think I will go to Cracker Barrel for chicken fried chicken and biscuits n gravy in the morning.

Mornin', Gents! Had an east day yesterday working at the main office making phone calls, so an easy day. Day started off when my scheduling supervisor walked in in her tight yoga pants and a t-shirt. Mmmmmm Too bad she had to change, but it was nice while it lasted. I'll be back at the main office again today so another easy day. Lots on the agenda this weekend. We have a house guest in about 3 weeks, so lots of cleaning and organizing. The DW gave me permission to go through a bunch of boxes in the basement and get rid of most of it, as long as it's not music related...so YAY! That'll be a lot of space cleaned up right there. This will also give up the opportunity to shift stuff to that cleaned area so we can just move stuff. The problem of not really organizing for a while. Never again. Never! Again! Power to the people! (cues music "Do You Hear the People Sing" from Les Mis.)

TTFN, and Happy Friday!

I hope your "meeting" went well and was productive.

Yeah, I'm not sure how it'll sound, but can't wait to see how it turns out. I suspect she might keep some of those songs in her rep to pull out at gigs. You know, to impress people. I'll have to look that group up.

:cheer2::cheer2:

That's make two of us. Because she was recording I didn't bother her, but could hear a little bit of it. Now, she's part of a trio, harp, trumpet and vocalist, so she's not playing the melody all the time, I'm sure, but suspect that could change if she chose to have that in her rep for gigs.

It's the English to English translation...doesn't always translate correctly.

Yep, Metallica on the harp.

:thumbsup2

Ok, that's was just funny. However....👇

Now need to apologize, my friend, that's what we're here for. I am sorry to hear this. As someone who has back issues I can certainly relate, and sympathize. As for the bike? That's just messed up. I hope that a$$hate gets what's coming to him/her. Jerk.

Tight yoga pants and Metallica sounds like a great place to work.

Morning boys from a sunny mother country. Not much on the agenda today, gonna drive into Canary Wharf to pick up Sushi for tonight, and I think that's about the highlight. Denmark fan today, as Wales are playing.
The New York store opened yesterday, its fun to see it on You tube, as I built most of the Digital Experiences instore without setting foot that side of the ocean. Seems to be gettin a lot of love.

Correct. (IMHO)
It's a sauce.
It's a base sauce, and gravy is pretty much a sauce.
Not to get above my station, as the Salad Dodger is the resident Philosophiser, but when is a sauce not a sauce?
A sauce is a thick liquid to add moisture or flavour to food......
So Bechamel, the Cat Vomit stuff and Her Majesty's Gravy are all sauces. Can't they all just get along? I feel a Sesame Street moment.
It makes a difference when she learns the smoke alarm isn't the oven timer?
:rotfl:

But, DW said that there were several house showings today and more scheduled for tomorrow
Good luck bud, I'm sure it will shift in no time.
I hope your "meeting" went well and was productive.
As I laid down when I got home, I felt like I was on Disney Paris's Space Mountain. Good meeting.
:rotfl2:Every once in a while, you come up with a turn of phrase that just cracks me up.
Not that often though, right?
I care about the taste not the presentation.
As my Italian Ex MIL(ish) used to say
Gli occhi devono mangiare, mio amico.......

Have a great day fellas, hopefully I will make the call later.

Vero Beach sounds terrific. Maybe next year.
Yep, but too short.

It makes a difference when she learns the smoke alarm isn't the oven timer?
:lmao:
Now that's funny, don't care who you are.

Biscuits n gravy is delicious
::yes::

Gli occhi devono mangiare, mio amico
Guess I didn't pay for the premium package for international translation. Tried to look it up and not sure, but I think it said Both eyes should be on eating my love.

Have a great day fellas, hopefully I will make the call later.

Say you're going to call it, then nothing.

Morning, folks.

Have to pressure wash the pool filters today, and I'm worried sick about it. As mentioned, I hurt my back the other day. It ain't better and lifting the one heavy canister out of the container will be a challenge. Wish me luck. Or call an ambulance. Your choice.

Got a link?

One of these things is not like the other...

Gli occhi devono mangiare, mio amico
Very true. Which is the main reason why biscuits and gravy doesn't appeal.

Morning Gents. Cloudy day here today, maybe get some showers. DS has headed off camping for the night, I expect him to arrive home tomorrow cold and wet. DW is getting some much needed rest this morning, just two more official days for her but no kids so that should make it a bit easier. Should be a quiet day.

Morning boys from a sunny mother country. Not much on the agenda today, gonna drive into Canary Wharf to pick up Sushi for tonight, and I think that's about the highlight. Denmark fan today, as Wales are playing.

Do you fish them right off the wharf? ;)

Yep, but too short.

Say you're going to call it, then nothing.
:rotfl2: I meant the zoom call, but by all means finish work if you've been there since yesterday morning....
