More of a statement, if this lockdown keeps going all year the least of our worries will be a cancelled flight to Montreal.

Back to moving too... although I hadn't really stopped. But the diet sure took a beating over the holidays. Ran 5K on Friday, 8K on Saturday and 5K yesterday. Today I walked 8K with my sister.

Nice! How long have you been running now, 8 or 9 months? Way to go.

Hope you got a better deal on Montreal than what you'd seen earlier.
Just an FYI, and things hopefully will change by then... They just imposed new restrictions on travel that started a couple days ago.

I've only put the car on as there is a strange quirk in the law over here, that if you go flight only, you have to pay all up front. If you add a car, it is technically classed as a vacation and sold as such, so you only have to settle in full 8 weeks before with a deposit. In these times, just thought it was a no brainer to add it on, and see where the chips fall in October.

Morning, Gents! How'd everyone's Monday go? Mine went well. We took down the Christmas decorations yesterday but left the lights outside the house up since it was raining. Hopefully those will come down today. Outside that? Not much is going on. Everyone have a good day.

And, another day of retirement. Been a full morning with another 5 mile walk, laundry, & walk to the grocery store. Got a whole, raw coconut, drank it, and then cracked it. I forgot how difficult it was removing the meat, but it was worth it. Delicious. Time for EPL. Have a good day.

This reminds me of story of when I was in the Navy. The department I was in on my ship had a cookout at a local resort in Olangapo City, Philippines. We had setup under a palm tree and, after playing beach games and generally messing around, we grilled our burgers and dogs and then sat down for some good food. Well, a coconut fell from the tree. We took that coconut, cracked it open, poured some liquor in it, and then passed it around.

Yes, most are wanting to go back to school, which is difficult to believe. But, with all these lockdowns, it makes sense.

Thankfully our DD's school has been in-person learning all school year, but they are strict about health. You have to take your temp at home, then log on to the school's site and log the temp, more like acknowledging that the temp is normal. Once you get to school, your temp is taken again. Long breaks, like the two weeks for Christmas, distance learning until everyone's COVID tests come back negative.

I'd like to try a plan like Mark, and visit all 50 states. I can see a plan where I drive west from here, camp in different states, and end up in DisneyLand for a few days. I'd like to tent camp, and those sites can be free or $10-$15 a night. I'd also go camp in dry tortugas, which really is primitive camping, followed by a drive to the Keys.

That's a great plan. If you're in northern New Mexico, Santa Fe is beautiful, and Taos is a must, as is Acoma Pueblo. Not national parks, but great places to visit.

Just wish I had known it to follow it myself.

And, finally some good news. DW has decided that she would like to travel around the US, visiting national parks. We should be able to begin in Summer/ Fall 2022. I asked if she would camp with me, and she said that sounded good. So, I've got 1.5 years to work to save up some extra $ and plan some trips. It's good to have a purpose.

Back on the running and the Keto, so 10k over the last 2 days and had my last beer and bread until Easter last night.

Have been working form the house the last week, and starting off the same way this morning. We're in the midst of doing a fairly serious overhaul of the kitchen in our house and I needed to be here as the folks doing the work showed up to get started (I'll show you some pics of the mayhem as the work progresses; could be entertaining).

Demolition is always the most fun part.

I know there aren't many hockey fans in here but this time of year always brings us the World Junior Championship, a tradition on our household to cheer on our young men. Last night was the semi-final and Team Canada had a convincing 5-0 win over the Russians while Team USA squeaked by the pesky Finns. Tonight's final should be a good one but with the games being in Alberta, that means a 10:30 p.m. start for me. I may need a nap this evening.

As most of you, easing back into work this week and trying to return to more exercise, eating better and less beer which may = more bourbon Was planned to be heading to DaWorld for DDCC9 tomorrow but made the call to back out considering all the possible impacts with all that is going on. Looking forward to DDCC10 though for sure! Stay safe and lets get the weekend here for 6 NFL playoff games!

USA / Finland was a bit nerve racking but after giving up the dreaded worst lead in sports, 2 goal lead, USA overcame the blown lead. 4the year in a row that USA & Finland have played to 1 goal game in the medal rounds. Even at 8:30 here, a bit of a late start on a weeknight for the big matchup everyone in North America wanted. Canada looks pretty tough.

An interesting story about when I first moved to Boston area. I moved to Somerville, MA 22 years ago, then known as Slumerville...I didn't see it, so maybe I wasn't living in the bad part of town. Anyways, I would take the green line (subway) everyday into Boston to look for work. The first part of the trip was above ground and passed by this building that was being torn down that wound up being the old Boston Garden where the Bruins and Celtics played. I wish I had taken pictures of it being town down, but I didn't.

I applied for a job before I left, received a phone call when I got back from my walk, and he wants to try to get me in for an interview later today. I've got nothing better to do, so let's hope for something good.

People are really hurting from these lockdowns. Maybe you all and the Canadians figured out a good way to do it. Here, the hypocrisy is causing more harm. Some of our elected officials and super paid government experts are caught not following their own restrictions. Which leads to the questions - do they know the restrictions don't work and are just lying? Or, do they have access to better medical care than the commoners? Then, there are the restrictions which lack any science credibility at all, and change on a moment's notice.

I've cut a whole and filled a watermelon with vodka before to drink. I'll have to try that with a coconut.

New Mexico is definitely on the list. I want to visit the Grand Canyon and drive the famous Route 66, so that direction is in our plans.

As for mosquitos, I am A+ blood type which is considered bad for COVID (worse symptoms) but good for mosquitos (less bites). My DW and dds get gnawed on by mosquitos, and they are both O type.

Yep, real fun game to watch and well played by both teams. It was cool / heartwarming to see how much this game / tournament meant to these kids after it was over. The utter celebration and proudness of team USA and the total dejection of the kids from Canada. The Canada team captain could not hold back the frustration and tears even while handing out the Silver Medal to his teammates. That's sports right there.

The last music teacher quit at the end of last year, so the Mrs., having a Masters in Music Ed., approached the school about the position, and got it. That's good news for the Mrs' music job and the COVID tests. I'm not sure this testing non-symptomatic people is sustainable, but if it's a way to return to normal, then we need to move forward with it.

Life Insurance sales. And, it's a no go. I'm not sure I really want to put in the early work for the later payoff, and I'm not a fan of the whole life insurance product.

Except this is way worse. They have caused hysteria, resulting in business closures and institutional changes, not to mention the future financial and health implications. I read an article about the impact of COVID on Americans and the possibility of it effects having to do with our unhealthy diet. That's going to be a lot longer fix.
