This man speaks the truth.! Heck, one could argue that POLY and Contemporary are IP so why mess with it?

Putting it to bed already? No heater?
That is my nightmare. That's why I have a guy who opens and closes my pool. It might cost a bit more to have him do it but I know I will either miss something important or break something and that will cost me more than paying my guy. And btw, why close so soon? I'm in MA without a heater and I'm keeping mine open for another two or three weeks!

Morning guys.
not the best day yesterday. Spent all of it putting the pool to bed for the winter. I save about $600 doing it myself but it’s a big job. Still not done. And... I managed to snap a part in half. Repair guys coming tomorrow at $150/hr. So... if the repair takes 4hours or more, I lose. Yay.
Sucks. Been there. Sorry, dude. How bad is it?
Yup. Don’t know how many times that’s happened to me. I need to be especially careful right now since it’s “primed” from all the heavy lifting yesterday.
You must have been working on some pretty heavy legal documents.
Day 1 of semi-retirement. I have to work my Church job until the 10th, but there are only 3 work days left there, one of them being tonight. I'll burn some sick days there and the Labor Day holiday.
My new employer had an article yesterday about hiring 30 new people as they were adding a shift. I guess I'm one of those. I still don't know what my new shift will be, although, I'm guessing 2nd since no one wants that shift. If it's 2nd, I'll miss my evenings during the week, but now with my youngest doing early college, I'll still get two mornings with her. It could be 4 on and 4 off. But, it wouldn't mess with my sleep schedule much. And, if I don't like it, I can always try for another shift or another job somewhere else.
Thanks. Sorry to hear about the back. Played tennis yesterday and woke up at midnight with my left hamstring cramping. Shot out of bed and stretched it until it stopped hurting. I haven't had one of those in years. Hopefully, if we find a place with a lake on it. Fresh fish is really good, and just doesn't have to be deep fat fried. Or, the beach condo for fresh seafood as well.

Top O the Mornin Dads! MOnth end at work, looking forward to the 3 day weekend and other than that does WDW have to IP everything? Poly was recently updated while BWV could use some work as rooms are a bit old and worn. Buuuuut, since there isn't any come to mind IP that would tie to BWV lets update Poly with Moana. Why can't Poly just be Poly without IP? You can update Ohana with characters and such to bring in new IP and I'm good with that but just seems to me they are taking this IP a bit too far in some areas. Remember, Contemporary has some halls themed to the Incredibles as a "test"! Heck, one could argue that POLY and Contemporary are IP so why mess with it? That's enough, back to your regularly scheduled programming. Stay safe guys.
Hope ya feel better, back issues suck.
Thanks. Did you do the Disney resort in HHI? VBR has the resort on the ocean as opposed to the hotel/ beach house. And, VbR has dining options, tennis courts, basketball court, and I like their green space to check out different games. The view from the Green Cabin Room will be the best ever.
Why can't Poly just be Poly without IP?
When we put in the pool, the sales guy talked about a gas heater extending the swimming season (over a heat pump)... but... no one wants to go swimming, no matter how hot the water is, when it's cold outside.
Ok, I'm going to ask the question: What's IP?
Intellectual property. It creates a controversy at Disney parks when they add characters to an attraction that really didn't need it. So this usually comes up when, say, they add Nemo to the Living Seas attraction, or Anna & Elsa to the Maelstrom. The original vision for Epcot was to have no characters. Disney purists get offended when the company breaks with tradition like that.
As for me...it depends on the attraction and what they do with it. I like Turtle Talk and thought Nemo fit in well at Living Seas. I thought the Maelstrom was a lousy ride, so I wasn't angry about replacing it. But I think the resorts are mostly stunning by themselves. I don't need Disney characters running around in order to enjoy them.
Stories like this remind me how fortunate I am to work from home and by myself. My schedule may seem crazy but it has it’s perks.Morning Gents! Hope everyone is having a good week so far. Well, I had my first moment yesterday where I wanted to tell someone at work to F off...didn't,
My thoughts on IP at the resorts. If it’s fairly understated, like a Moana painting above the bed or the characters inside a pull down bed, I am fine with it. But if it’s too “in your face” and the deluxes turn into value resorts with character placement everywhere, then it will be jumping the shark.
Welcome, JayMass! Where about in Mass are you? As you can see from my name, I'm on Cape Cod. Lovely place.
Thanks.

As Darcy alluded to, an adblocker will likely make a huge difference. I'm not getting popups.
I would recommend adblock browser for phone or adblock plus plugin for browser.
On a different note...Norm's new bumper sticker....

I'm only getting this carp here on the boards? Company lap top so there problem not mine

Morning Gents! Hope everyone is having a good week so far. Well, I had my first moment yesterday where I wanted to tell someone at work to F off...didn't, but wanted to. It's this other paralegal named Denise. She doesn't seem very pleasant most of the time, maybe it's just her personality, but I don't think she's very pleasant most of the time. So what happened was, I was asked to sit at the front desk as the receptionist had to leave mid-afternoon. No problem, I didn't have a lot going on and it was easier for me to do it than one of the other paralegals to do it. Well, I get a phone call from someone named Ann from a certain large bank. I put her on hold and called Denise to see if she would take it. She said she couldn't and to put it to her voicemail. Sure thing. I went to tell Ann that Denise wasn't available and I could put her to the voicemail. Well, Ann proceeds to tell me what she wanted and if I could help. I'm trying to tell her no I couldn't help, when I hear Denise from yell from the back, "Don't take notes, just put her through to my voicemail!" She was mad because she thought I was trying to help. I simply yelled back, "I DID!" I know she didn't know what was happening on the other end of the phone, and I may have taken it more personally than I should have, but don't yell at me to so something when I'm already trying to do it and you don't know what's going on. I know, don't let it get to you. Well, today's a new day and I'm going to go in there and conquer the day. Have a good day, Gents, and we'll chat on the other side.
TTFN
Oops Hopefully it won't take too long, and too much money to fix.
Not so bad that it lays me up, but it is sore. When I sit for long periods of time and then stand up, I get that lean thing happening because I can't stand up straight. So I sit at my desk sucking in my gut because it helps the lower back. You know, because the thingamajig is connected to the whatchamacallit. In other words: I'm fat. Actually, have had a back issues for years, but the weight I've put on over the last year an a half hasn't helped it at all. More reason for me to get healthy.
Be careful with that back. This is one of the reasons I wanted to get out of the warehouse. I couldn't stand working in the warehouse with a sore back.
Very heavy legal documents combined with the heavy weight of pressure on my shoulders.
Happy semi-retirement!
If you work the 2nd shift, do will you get shift differential? And working the 2nd shift isn't all that bad. I use to like it because I could get stuff done in the mornings, it wasn't so much fun Friday night, but I liked it.
Thanks, it's getting better. I had that happen before, so I feel your pain. Stretch, my friend, stretch...something I need to do more of.

I am familiar with that. Always a joy. When I sit for long periods of time and then stand up, I get that lean thing happening because I can't stand up straight.
That is a prime motivator that keeps me running and dieting. I do feel better for the most part. Still want to drop another 10lbs, though.Actually, have had a back issues for years, but the weight I've put on over the last year an a half hasn't helped it at all. More reason for me to get healthy.

Is it smiling camel day again?
That's called an indoor pool. Just slightly out of my price range. If only they would heat the air around the pool as well.
Agreed! But I think the resorts are mostly stunning by themselves. I don't need Disney characters running around in order to enjoy them.
Nice! Enjoy that time off!Morning guys. Day 1 of 7 off for me.
Did you manage to escape with spending under $100?DW started my time off with a trip to Costco, but at least it was a Wednesday at 10am, so slightly less crazy. I still don’t like the place.
I forgot to do this earlier.I'm in Wilmington which is near Woburn, Reading, etc. off of 93 about 12 miles north of Boston.
Happy anniversary!Today is our 20th wedding anniversary for those not on FB.

I haven't been to the Cape in forever, but we used to go every summer when I was a kid--usually W. Yarmouth.
Late to the party. I guess it's the retirement hangover. Today is our 20th wedding anniversary for those not on FB. My original plan was for DW to have a return trip to WDW to celebrate our Disneymoon, this time, eating at Victoria & Albert's. COVID killed that. So, maybe that will be the plan for the 25th anniversary.
Always great to hear work drama that involves wanting to be helpful. I never really knee why people got so overly dramatic and concerned for that, other than they feel their incompetence would be revealed.
Yes, 2nd shift brings more pay. I also get a raise after 90 day probation, and differential pay based on the job. My neighbor said the crew he is on rotates jobs, and that he can get paid different rates for the same 8 hour time period, depending on what he is doing.
Whelp... the pool repair-dude came this morning. He took one look and said "Do you want the bad news or the bad news?"
Uh, oh...
They don't stock that part anymore and if I want them to "fix" it, it'll mean a replacement salt system. That was the bad news.
The 2nd bad news was that it would cost over $2,000.
I went to a pool supply place here in town. They said they're getting the part in, in two weeks or so. I need to buy a PVC pipe boring tool to ream out the fittings and hope to be able to fix it myself. We'll see. Don't know how much the part will be (the tool is <$40), but I'm betting a few hundred bucks. Worth trying.

That hand gesture is hilarious. She's just so done with being there. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. <pathetic wave>"

Hey, Gents! Well, it's Thursday. The office got rearranged yesterday and I'm now the only person out in the hall now. I do have an office to the side and a couple behind me, the attorney I work for sits to the side of me, but as for paralegals sitting out in the hall, I'm the only one. This is nice because I prefer it, always have enjoyed working in an area that I had all to myself. The only problem I have now is that the office manager now sits in an office right behind me, so that means that when I'm slow, which is still kind of a lot right now as I'm still learning, I can't goof off online. Believe me when I say I prefer to be busy. Yesterday I spent most of the day drafting documents and loved it, but sometimes it's slow and I want to look something up online, and now I can't do that as often. Oh well. Well, have good day, Gents, and we'll chat on the other side.
I have mixed feelings about working from home. On the one hand, I'd love it because I wouldn't have to commute anywhere, not that I have a long commute now, and could probably get more done. However, on the other hand I like the office interaction and would miss that. Though, working from home would mean that I could head out early in the morning for some early morning photography and be back in time for work and not have to worry about getting changed into the office attire.
Nice. I use to live in Somerville, moved there when I came out 22 years ago to go to school. After getting married, I moved to the Cape and wouldn't change a thing.
Happy Anniversary!
Getting paid extra for the 2nd shift is nice...though getting different pay when you jump around isn't so cool, well, unless it's more that is.
Well....that kind of sucks. Hope you can do it cheaper when the part comes in.
I know, but I was being nice as I'm still new. However, I'm hoping that because I yelled back it says that I'm not one to be pushed around. We'll see how that goes.
Neither do I. I'm not going to go out of my way to irritate her, but I'm not going to be a push over either. If she pushes me, I'll push back. At some point she'll understand that as long as you're nice to me, I'll be nice to you.
Mhmm I have to make sure to work my core strength before and after work, and to get up from time to time. I'll also bend forward in my chair to help stretch my back.
When I worked out regularly years ago I felt great! I really need to get back to that.
Yeah, I think she's done with that song.![]()
Happy Thursday. Last day of job #2 is next Wednesday. I get to take 2 sick days, holiday, sick day, and then finish it out. I'm happy this chapter in my life is almost over.
We met oldest dd's new boyfriend last night. He seemed like a good enough guy. His dad runs a 2nd generation used car dealership, and the boyfriend is following in the family business. He said he works 6 days a week. I didn't try to marry her off and move her out of the house, but I thought about it.![]()
Enjoy the office space. If it's like the place I've worked, then they will be along to move you somewhere in the future.
Have you checked amazon? When we moved in, our neighbor was having a pool put in. We got ti talking about salt cells and cost and he said you can get them as cheaply or cheaper on amazon because the folks there buy them in bulk.I went to a pool supply place here in town. They said they're getting the part in, in two weeks or so. I need to buy a PVC pipe boring tool to ream out the fittings and hope to be able to fix it myself. We'll see. I found putting one of my targets from the range in the front entryway highly effective.I hope you gave the new boyfriend the evil eye. I'm not sure I could pull it off as my DD knows I'm a nice guy, but when she gets to dating age, when she's 30, I'll give it a try.
