DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
She is at the airport and I am going to get a little shuteye.

Should be two good games but I have no vested rooting interest. Maybe a little bit for Portugal. Enjoy the grilling and beers at the cousins.
France V Argentina is pretty much an Englishman’s definition of a lose lose situation.

Well I wasn't overly impressed with the live dedication, I expected more than that.
I think it was an appropriate dedication ceremony, short and sweet. It certainly didn't compare to the Pandora dedication, that was major.

Afterwards, and even though Disney has been saying that there wouldn't be a soft opening, the serious Disney fanatics weren't buying it. There were about a hundred of them gathered at the TSL entrance. Only after a Disney manager came out and announced that there wouldn't be a soft opening did they disperse. Well, at least most of them did. Some die-hard fans stuck around in the pouring rain and lightening and it paid off, there was a soft opening. I've been doing openings at WDW for a long time and still don't get it.

After being involved for the past two weeks, almost exclusively with TSL pre opening events, it's over. I'm returning tonight and will be interested to see what the crowds are like. In anticipation of needing all parking spaces this weekend, anyone working at DHS will park at Epcot and bused over to DHS, which is fine, it's paid travel time.

Would it help if they end up tied? That's lose lose for them, right?
They can’t tie mate. It goes to extra time (30 mins) and then penalties. They just keep taking them until someone misses after the first 5.

Well, you only have three knees, you know. So take care of them.

True. I ordered super soldier formula off the internet. Now, i just need to find some gamma radiation.

A very early Happy Saturday guys. The kid is flying to Chicago with some friends for a few days. Her flight leaves at stupid o'clock. I was going to go to breakfast but realized when I drop her off, it will still be an hour before the Diner opens. Decided to come home and take a nap for a couple of hours, then go eat. And I'm watching the mutt I didn't want while she is away.
.

Was it good sweet iced tea where the spoon stands straight up in the pitcher?

The more important question. Is she taking the mutt with her to Hawaii?

France V Argentina is pretty much an Englishman’s definition of a lose lose situation.

Because ...........

Is there a joke in there somewhere, or is it just they are unpopular teams.

Sorry...don't know soccer/football, so didn't know. Oh wait...I think I remember someone saying if they tie, the last team to score a goal actually wins.
Go England! At least your flag and our flag (I'm in the South, so confederate flag) are similar.

Great first half for France. They looked really strong, and that Mbappe is almost as fast as me, if my knees weren't injured, and I had a jet pack. :lmao: Argentina got lucky to go in tied.

Turned on the second half and France scored three goals in a few minutes. So I guess football can be exciting sometimes?

fun. So, dd wants to play 30 minutes of tennis. I say sure. LOTS OF PAIN IN MY KNEE.
Happy belated birthday to DD.
And take care of that knee. Maybe we need some kind of protective circle around some of you guys.

honestly had no idea that Dairy queen did anything else apart from ice cream.
I think they actually have decent burgers

I thought it was ok but certainly nothing spectacular. You know...kind of like Toy Story Land itself...
Somewhat impressed they had Tim Allan there I suppose.

Any big implication from this outcome? (Yes, more edumacation needed)

Hmmm...sounds like what I would need to last three minutes with that redhead...:rotfl2:

Finally, made a pot of iced tea and the handle on the pitcher. broke off. Luckily, I had just lifted it up and nothing spilled. That would have been a mess. Still plan to make it a good day today.

Close call.
Safe travels to the PP!

:rotfl:We really are a simple species, aren't we? All that picture needs is a brew and a rack of ribs, and that pretty much sums up the whole enchilada.

::yes::

Bye-Bye Argentina. Don't let the door hit you in the Messi on the way out.

Napped for about an hour, took a shower and went out to breakfast. Nice treat and was back before the match started. Napped off a bit sitting on the couch and missed France's tying goal but saw the rest. DD texted about an hour ago that she arrived in Chicago. The Windy City will never be the same. So I would say it is a good day so far.

From all the reports, glad I am not at the Studios today. Crowded as the airport where all the Argentine fans heading out of Russia.

Just for fun, checked on Touring Plans to see wait times. Alien Saucers, R&R Coaster, and Slinky Dog were all reported closed for now. Doubly glad I am not there.

I heard it’s shut down for the storms.

Well bye bye Argies, I would say you’ve brought something to the World Cup, but I’d be lying.

Ronaldo down early as well. A nice long past from Saurez.

Agree. I like there burgers as well. And, the M&M blizzard is my favorite.

Afternoon Guys,

Lots accomplished so far today, farmer's market, out for breakfast, groceries, garden center, some gardening, cleaned the front gutter and now enjoying a Landshark while watching Portugal and Uruguay. Fantastic opening goal by Uruguay.

Lightning strike on a transformer knocked out our power from 6 to 10 last night; more storms moving in so I'm hoping we don't lose it again.

Have a good one all!

Well 007, looks like Ronaldo and Messi may have that photo opp on the tarmac. :lmao:

The France vs Argentina game was better than this one.

!

Lots of work for you. Went out an hour and played tennis with youngest this AM. I learned not to move as much so feeling ok. As for beer, Yuengling here since it was on sale.

I never like the short corner kicks. But, it worked for Portugal. Back to 1-1. I can't see Uraguay losing this one though with the referee not calling fouls to give Ronaldo a few more free kicks.

Portugal has been all over them but Uruguay has made the most of there chances.
