DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning all...
All quite down this way still (unlike the doings up in Annapolis... dang sad, that).
We're sheltering in place to avoid the heat, so I don't expect much will be going on for the next few days.

Enjoy your evening, what type of music? Aren't you a bluegrass guy?
Was a good show.
Charlotte Symphony doing their Summer Pops tour.
Free concert in in the park with an emphasis on patriotic themes for the upcoming holidays.
Rather light fair musically; salute to all the military branches, lot of Sousa, some medleys from Broadway, a realy nice John Williams piece, and the score from the classic documentary: "Victory at Sea" .
Nice venue, decent temp once the sun got low, various food-trucks on hand for dinner options, all in all a good evening out.

I do like a spot of Blue Grass here and there, but I'm a rock-n-roll guitar man by upbringing and trade. I also did time in the school music programs (and my young'en is finishing up a music degree) so I've a soft spot for Classical, Big-Band Jazz and Drum Corps/Marching Band productions as well. There are a few but not many types of music that will force me into changing a radio station fairly quick (Disco and Hip Hop would top that list).

Today is my youngest 14th birthday. I had bought pickleball paddles for the family, but as a gift for her since tennis courts fill up in the winter, but we could still play pickleball.
Happy B/D to the young'en, and I think that's a great gift idea.

dd wants to play 30 minutes of tennis. I say sure.
That idea, however, probably not so much (but it's hard to say no to your kids).
Rest... heal up...

Birthday dinner at Dairy Queen.
Classy...
Her B/D, her choice, all's good.

Right. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. In honour of the opening of Toy Story Land, last one standing in Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge for Bourbon Sours has to take Jessie home. Once you've done the deed, don't ask for any return action though boys, because let me tell ya, she hates returning to her box.

Have a good weekend fellas.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Only got one more office day, Monday, before heading on vacation. Looking forward to all the kids being together again at DaWorld as well as a relaxing 4 days on the Dream with just the 3 of us. Had to come in on Monday to cover month end review and reporting requirements but this place is a real cluster lately and the best response I have right now to the stupidity here is:

Oh yea, and "I'll start on that after the 16th!"

You speak truth unto men.
What, that you are right or that a friendly broke out?

Sounds like a real nice night out. I knew you were a big music guy and played guitar, not sure why I thought bluegrass over rock though.

Well done as usual Dan.

Pigtails are s*xy. Pigtails on a redhead are vaaavvvaavvvavoom. I'll be last and she'll be begging to return to the box. :lmao:

Oh wait, she's just a doll...never mind!

Happy Birthday to your youngest.

So, I cut the grass today, or least some of the grass today. It was.so wet from recent typhoons that I cut half of it. No pain in knee. So, we go to play pickleball as part of her present. We play for 30 minutes, not competitively, but with the family for fun. So, dd wants to play 30 minutes of tennis. I say sure. LOTS OF PAIN IN MY KNEE.

Easy there cowboy, you don't want to make it worse.

No WC today, so we all might watch the live stream of the dedication of Toy Story Land at 4 our time.

Today is the day to run errands in the morning.

I'm saddened and angry that this seems to happen almost every day.

Be with you in a minute, I still need to get libations for the weekend.

Happy weekend guys. Sitting on a train back from NYC to Boston. Then picking up the family and driving up to Maine. Should get there by midnight... Long day. Should be a good weekend though.

Hope all are well. For anyone down at the world, please check on the beer and pretzel supply for me. Thanks so much

Happy Friday. Oldest dd has boyfriend picking her up at work now. At least she learned how to boss guys around from her mother. :lmao: Wait....:sad2:

1. Happy birthday to your youngest.
2. Dude! Take it easy on the knee!
3. No. Really. Take it easy on the knee.

Thanks. I have to test it and see how the recovery is going.

Happy birthday to DD! Better take it easy on that knee.

Thanks. Will do. Maybe.

Buddy. Look after yourself.
I honestly had no idea that Dairy queen did anything else apart from ice cream. Well, you learn a little somethin' every day. I need to get to one at some point in my life.

Messi and Ronaldo take a selfie from the tarmac. :lmao:

DQ, like most all Make American Great Fast Food Restaurants, sell more and larger quantities of food than anyone should be permitted to order to eat in one setting. Fried chicken tenders, fries, blizzard (soft serve with candy mix in).

Happy birthday to your DD. Take it easy on the knee, you've got the Australian Open coming up in a little over 6 months.

Therein lies the problem. My pro career is over as it never began. I can walk enough to do some things most times, but other things hurt sometimes. Should I then pay for the surgery or just stop doing those things?

Happy B/D to the young'en, and I think that's a great gift idea.

Rest... heal up...

Glad to hear you enjoyed the music. I can say no easy enough, I just thought I would see how much I recovered. Not the best calculation.

I'm thinking red hair, pig tails, saddle, rough riding, yeehaw, ........... Ok, I'm done. That was fun. :lmao:

Cruise sounds wonderful right now. Have a great trip.

It will be a long 3 minutes. :lmao:

Happy Birthday to your youngest.

Easy there cowboy, you don't want to make it worse.

I don't think I can make it worse. I can't tear it worse in the same part. It just causes pain. Two more weeks that it has a chance to heal. It won't heal enough that I'll recover normal, just enough where it doesn't hurt as bad. I've had the injury with the right knee now for three years, and I was able to play tennis for the most part, just lacking mobility.

Testing? Sure. Over exerting to the point where you blow it out again? Maybe not?

This isn't the ACL, so I can't blow it out again. I can cause a new tear, but I'm not going to tear the current tear. That is what the Dr explained to me. He said that 6-8 weeks after the injury, it will heal as good as it ever will. I've been able to survive now 3 years on my right knee with mild, occasional pain over those years. I'm hoping this left knee could recover enough that I could play tennis again without having surgery. I have two weeks to go, so I figured I would test it.

Well, you only have three knees, you know. So take care of them.

A very early Happy Saturday guys. The kid is flying to Chicago with some friends for a few days. Her flight leaves at stupid o'clock. I was going to go to breakfast but realized when I drop her off, it will still be an hour before the Diner opens. Decided to come home and take a nap for a couple of hours, then go eat. And I'm watching the mutt I didn't want while she is away.

Finally, made a pot of iced tea and the handle on the pitcher. broke off. Luckily, I had just lifted it up and nothing spilled. That would have been a mess. Still plan to make it a good day today.

Okay, I stand corrected...pigtails not necessary.
Redheads...yes.

:rotfl:We really are a simple species, aren't we? All that picture needs is a brew and a rack of ribs, and that pretty much sums up the whole enchilada.

She is at the airport and I am going to get a little shuteye.

Should be two good games but I have no vested rooting interest. Maybe a little bit for Portugal. Enjoy the grilling and beers at the cousins.
