DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
My new used car has Bluetooth and I linked up my phone. That is really cool. I guess I finally made it to 2013. :lmao:
Well, you're a few years ahead of me. My van has had bluetooth since I bought it in 2013, but I've yet to bother connecting it. DW has hers set up of course, so good enough. If I'm in the car by myself, I'm happy enough not to answer the phone and just listen to my old man music. (Although if I had a long commute I probably would be inclined to connect it)

May the dole whip machine of life never stop serving in your cup.
I like that one. :thumbsup2

But on the plus side, if the guys keep having DDC in Jan, WDW Marathon may be on the cards at some point.
I like the idea of a runDisney race but I don't know if it will ever happen for me. It's a great excuse to attend DDC though. A marathon isn't happening though, I would be more of a 10K guy, half marathon if I did some proper training.

Evening Guys,

Looks like there was some successes over the weekend, half marathon completion, a race to the couch. Congrats to everyone!

Think I may have beaten this bug, the wonders of spending the better parks of the last three days in bed. Back to work tomorrow, hope everyone has a great week.

Looks like I've got a little catching up to do.

Nah.

Evening gents. 8 hours work. Then four hours of moving and lifting and packing boxes for MIL's upcoming move and, of course, more shoveling.
Have no idea why my back is sore.

Sorry, this makes me think of Cars: "He did WHAT in his cup??"

Lift with your legs!

Top O the Mornin Dads! Looks like most made it through Monday, unless you work in the U.S. Justice Department but I won;t go there. Welcome to the 2000's with the blue tooth Norm :thumbsup2

Morning Guys.

Paid off the trip yesterday, now it's real. So looking forward to visiting the World!
Right there with ya! Even though we were there at Christmas and this will be 3rd visit in 10 months for me & DS, I am really pumped for the upcoming trip. It's just gonna be me, DW & DS and we are doing a full 7 nights this trip and we have not done a full week in a long time. Guess this trip has a more laid back traditional trip vibe to it. Too bad DD could not have done one last just the 4 of us trip but she is heading to San Diego to be with fiance during spring break.

I haven't been there for an extended stay since 2011, since then I have only got the odd day trip when I was in the area for something else. Can't wait to be submersed in that environment once again.

helloooo humans!!!

Wow, look who stopped by. Welcome Home!

Happy Tuesday. Did the shopping for the Superbowl food fest. Patriots are going to win it, so it's not much of a game. But, the menu includes queso dip and chips, homemade guacamole, tacos, lemon cake, and Cabo Wabo tequila. Lots of lemons and limes to prepare.

I didn't get it for the Bluetooth, but that 140 mile commute to campus will go by a lot better now.

Glad you're feeling better.

That's what you get for not going back and reading everything.

Yes, I get those annual dues at the end of every January. I still need to buy tickets though.

I guess that's her loss. Enjoy the trip. When are you all going?

I'm a firm believer in week long stays, whenever possible. My last couple trips to the World have been 8 days. It builds in enough rest time that it seems like a vacation and not just a commando race through the parks. Hope you both enjoy it.

Since we're on the topic, I got ADRs set for DW & DDs dance school trip in July. The frustrating part is that I don't know the exact dance schedule yet, I only know "practice on Tuesday" and "parade in Epcot on Thursday", with no specific times. For a planning guy, that drives me nuts. So I did something I don't particularly like, which is to double book ADRs (same place for lunch and dinner) until they get a firm schedule, and then we'll cancel the ones we don't need. I feel like I'm "cheating" the system somehow, but it can't really be avoided. Anyway, I've booked them:
Crystal Palace
Tusker House (breakfast)
Akershus (breakfast)
Via Napoli
Beaches & Cream
Tutto Italia
Garden Grill (breakfast)
Mama Melrose

There's nothing exotic in the list. Something about my wife, bless her, is that she's not the most adventurous eater. She basically has two orders when we eat out - chicken & ribs if it's a grill type restaurant or lasagna if it's Italian, and that's about it. Hence the Italian and breakfast oriented ADRs. But they should be pretty safe ADRs. I did get her to try Garden Grill without me for something new.

Most of our WDW stays have been 7 days, also had a couple of 10 day stays.

Nice list of ADRs.

Happy Wednesday. The new job seems to be going well, but I have had to stop tennis on Wednesdays & Thursdays. I thought about going to the gym this morning, but just couldn't talk myself into it. Maybe this afternoon, but doubtful.

I agree with you on the downtime. I like the week stay, every other park day, so I can enjoy the resort and have an nice meal in the evening. With that said, we are found a short trip to WDW with parks everyday, followed by a week at the beach. So, I get no rest one week and have to wait for the other.

Good list of ADRs. Since we have a short trip, I booked Via Napoli ADR. The rest of the meals will be in the park, and we will just get whatever is available or QS. We like ESPN Club, but they don't take reservations.

Sorry to hear about the picky eating choices. My youngest dd is like that. It drives me crazy to go to a steakhouse or seafood restaurant and she orders chicken nuggets/ tenders. I like to try different cuisines and different foods at favorite restaurants. Via Napoli will still just be their pizza though.

Your invited for the Superbowl meal just like I'm invited for one of those 10 day WDW trips. :lmao:

That's a solid plan right there, I may join ya. See, DW is heading to Denver Friday for a girl cousins annual get together. Yes you guys catch on quick, I get to bach it on Super Bowl weekend. Hockey (though Hawks are killing me lately), video games, movies and football. No to do list and no wedding crapola :cool1:

Over the kids spring break 3/11 - 3/18. She is using the break to see her future husband as it will be the last time they will get to see each other until wedding time so can't really blame her.
Well, when you put it that way...

I'm with ya on the longer stays but between work schedules and kids school schedules it's been tough lately. We are taking a 10 night on DCL this summer which will be terrific. Do not feel bad about your ADR plans. Disney has been doing a lousy job with park hours and event times in terms of changing them with only two weeks notice. Had this challenge in both Dec & June trips so your game plan is actually something I may use in the future - good calls on the places too!

Morning Guys,

Weather has turned cold up here again. Right after an ice storm hit the province last Tuesday, there are still parts of the province without power. I think there is one town that had replace close to 4000 hydro poles. It's always terrible to be without power but this time of year is very, very bad.

Your invited for the Superbowl meal just like I'm invited for one of those 10 day WDW trips. :lmao:

Next time we do a 10 day trip, you are invited. Heck you could even come on this trip. Just get your way there, pay for a room, tickets, food and souvenirs and you are good. ;)

Sounds like a good weekend! As for the Super Bowl, I have to confess that I really don't follow the NFL at all, but like many I pay some attention to the Super Bowl. I'll miss it this weekend on account of being on a plane throughout the entire game. But on the bright side, I am finally getting home for a month after my work overseas.

I was reading about the damage in the ice storm. Hopefully they get it fixed soon. Like you say, its a very hard time of year to be without power, especially now the weather has turned colder again.
