DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
So what quick services does everyone enjoy? I know my kids love Casey's, because corn dog nuggets or something like that.
My wife has a place at Epcot that she loves for quick service, can't remember the name off the top of my head.
Just to add to the suggestions and give some ideas away from the usual burgers/nuggets/pizza. In MK I found the waffle sandwich from Sleepy Hollow on my last trip, both savory (ham & swiss) and sweet (nutella & berries). In Epcot, the bakery in France has some good sandwiches. In AK, the Yak & Yeti has decent take out options if you like Asian food. In DHS, I can make a meal out of the carrot cake cookie, now at Sweet Spells.

Flame Tree BBQ is my favorite. Both the food and the outdoor seating area are terrific.

Hey hey, looks like I made it. After several changes of laptops and some hectic work schedules I found my way back. Greetings gentlemen!

Welcome back. Work is no excuse for not posting. :lmao:

Top O the Mornin Dads! Batcrap crazy around here with work, work travel, DD home from school, DS graduating HS, etc. Pretty much got caught up here finally so congrats to Declan on the volleyball, Pirate Princess on her finals and graduating (congrats CJ and safe travels), Rob - nice young man you got there and Norm, phone number, really? For any major events I may have missed ..........

You do have a lot going on. It will be over soon enough.

Morning all.
After working til 11pm on my first day off (and then staying up til 1am... for no reason) I'm back at work by 6:45am on my second day off.
Thank goodness I have to work tomorrow at 8am. I can use the rest.
.

Enjy the rest at work. Now, do you actually rest at work like me?

Hello Men! Partly sunny and getting warmer in these parts. Scary weather happening to you guys out west... praying for safety for you during this time of the year.
Played softball on Monday night... double header... won both games. Unfortunately for me I took a ball on the left side of my jaw the second play of the game. Teeth are still loose, but glad there was no blood and nothing broken. Otherwise, I realized that this 44 year old body doesn't wanna do what my 20 year old mind wants it to do. :lmao:
Still working on the reading nook for DD. I'll get some pics up in here once I recover from Monday night and actually start working on it again. :faint:

Yeah, being old stinks. Glad you're ok. Those games we play are fun until we get hurt. I don't recover as fast as I used to.

She probably saw you play and mistook you for Djokovic. It happens, I'm sure.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:?"

So, you're going with the blind thing, too? :lmao:

MK - Columbia Harbour House and Aloha Isle
Epcot - Sunshine Seasons and the one in France. DW likes Karamel Kuche for caramel corn and apples.
AK - Yak n Yeti for both QS and TS.
DHS - I really can't think of one that just stands out.

While playing tennis indoor last night, the rain started. High school regional matches were going on outdoor, so they brought them inside and played on the two vacant indoor courts. One was next to ours. I thought the crowds of parents and school groups were clapping for me. :lmao:

We had two of them the same. I like going in that QS in Epcot for a croissant and to go with a grey goose vodka slush. Sleepy Hollow had a spicey chicken waffle as well, although not sure if it is still there.

Maybe they were; people do like to encourage people who are struggling at a sport. ;)

Having breakfast at a Cracker Barrel in the state of Virginia. Drive so far is cake except they closed part of I-95 in North Carolina. Fun driving a detour at 1 in the morning.

So we are flying this year, and I just got a an email from Frontier that they are moving up my return flight by 3 hours. That completely destroys the last day of our trip. Guess I will call them and see if we can get a later flight, or maybe extend the trip by a day...

I thought that Universal had an iron clad agreement on that, so that Disney could not revoke those rights to marvel? Could be wrong, as I can't seem to find where I read that, but it seems like something that an organization would want before building a theme park 'land' around the concept and then having to change all of those rides..
Oh I'm sure they do. But don't most contracts have an expiration date? I'm just guessing here, but I wouldn't think Disney would let Marvel renew it unless it would generate too much bad PR. If you ever find that article, I'd love to read it.

They can move your flight around by three hours, but if your three hours late then you don't get to go. Ha ha. Don't you just love airlines.

So talked to Frontier, and umm, not only did they move our flight to Thursday at the same early new time that they had, but they gave us a 50 voucher to be used on out next flight. So I guess I can say that Frontier made it up to us. Now we have to try an extend our stay at Disney by at least a day, and maybe two.

Wish me luck. :)

Any cart with Turkey legs, Casey's for sure, Cookes of Dublin, and bakery in France.

All the best that it works out for you

Good one, I wasn't thinking about Disney Springs. Great sandwiches. I've heard good things about their mac & cheese but never had it.

Hopefully it works out for you. But I guess there are worse things that could happen. (tip: go for the extra two days if you can! :p)

Made it safe and sound in NJ last night. Thought I would be out when my head hit the pillow but NO, I'm up at 3am. Seeing the kid this morning where the packing will begin. The boyfriend is getting commissioned today and she asked if I wanted to go. Well, let me think about that.... NOOOOOOOO!

Will try to catch up on the musings I missed here later today. If not, everyone have a great Friday.

Never been over to Coronado Springs Resort. Maybe one of these days. EoS is very good. They did cut back on their sandwiches a few years ago, but still good.

Welcome back to the east coast. Have fun packing. Congrats again to President Crash.

You could always come hang out in Delaware instead...

Okay, so here is the full story now. Frontier changed the time, we called and they moved our outbound flight from Tuesday to Thursday for free, and gave us a $50 credit.
Called Disney, but they want over $800.00 for the extra two days. They only want 10/each for the tickets to be upgraded by one day, so we will do that ($50.00 for 5 park hopper tickets is a no brainer)
So we have the meal plan through the 16th, so meals are covered for that day.
The 17th is a full day, so we have meals to pay for and a hotel room
The 18th is now our leaving day, but flight is at 10am, so it is a dead day for any vacation plans.

What I am researching is the Disney springs hotels, as they look very affordable, have shuttles to the parks, or we could use Uber if we don't want to wait. Anyone stayed at one of them before? I checked for shuttles to the airport and Mears is about $ 80.00 for the 5 of us, so not sure if there is a cheaper options for that. Not sure what Uber XL costs...

So my costs:
(Off site)
50.00 Tickets for one more day
100.00 Meals for the day
200.00 two days of rooms
80.00 Airport shuttle

430.00 Total extra

(On site)
880.00 Room and Meals
50.00 Extra Tickets

930.00 Total Extra

And it looks like since my wife is a teacher some of the Disney Springs Hotels have extra discounts. So I think I am going with the off site option.

Also, Frontier was very good to us, they said since the time change was over 3 hours, they would do all of the changes for free, and were very easy to work with.(And like I said, they gave us 50 bucks in vouchers that I think we can use for luggage, so bonus bags to take back.)

Morning All,

Welcome to Friday! last day of sun here before a weekend of rain.

Good to hear you made it safe and good luck with the packing. Commissioned, as in military?
