DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Well, at least the Heat won last night.

Been away for a few days dealing with the carpfest that was my week. I will catch up later.

Going out to lunch this afternoon and then get ready for a big Saturday of football. Florida Georgia weekend! If you only have one college football game to see in your life, this is it. Split down the middle, two good teams and it is dubbed The Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party for a reason. Lots of memories attending that game. DD went once but that was when her mother was about 7 months pregnant. Pouring, monsoon rain but it ended up to be a great game. Hoping for a good win.

Regardless, I intend to enjoy the next couple of days. It helps knowing I won't have to watch the Dolphins this weekend. Hope everyone has a GREAT WEEKEND.

Carpfest? I've hear of lobsterfest and salmon fest but never carpfest. Is that a southern thing? ;)

You also forgot to mention shrimp fest, crab fest, crawfish fest... Reverse the a and the r and you get a non-sanitized version of my week.

Thought carp was also fitting because they are somewhat related to the cod fish. Cod fish are notoriously stupid. One of, it not the only fish, that when hooked don't fight. They easily to go from the water to plate. In Italian they are called baccalà. When my brother or i did something stupid, my father would shake his head and say, "Baccalà." I keep the tradition going when the Pirate Princess does something dump. Felt I was dealing with a lot of cod fish this week.

Not looking good early for the Mets. Royals already scored a run. Wait, Mets HR.

Hummm, UK vs Western Carolina... for a championship? I'd make the bet but...
Nope, I don't see that one happening anytime in the near. :lmao:

It is somewhat possible that they could see each other during the football season at some point, though.
In the time that my boy has been attending, we've been paid very good money to travel and be slaughtered by the likes of: Virgina Tech, Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee. In a couple week Texas A&M will be paying us for the privilege as well, so it's not impossible to think that Kentucky might want to buy a victory at some point in the future.

UK football won against a top 25 team for the first time in 10+ years this season. I doubt either will be meeting for ANy football championships anytime soon.

.

It should be a good game. I was thinking SEC would come down to Florida & LSU this season. I think I have a swim meet tomorrow. :sad1:

...As for BBQ, Moonlite has fed two US Presidents (Clinton, W Bush) and has such a quantity that if you go home hungry, then you're an idiot. The lunch buffet is smaller, but the dinner buffet features baked apples, baked beans, green beans, corn, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, turkey & dressing, chopped pork, chopped mutton, sliced pork, ribs, BBQ chicken, cornbread, rolls, and a few other veggies and meats. Then there is the salad bar, Burgoo, and the dessert bar that features banana pudding, two cobblers, fudge covered pecan pie, peanut butter pie, ice cream, and a few others. Oh yeah, Friday is catfish fiddlers and filets.

Old Hickory has better tasting BBQ and is a bit cheaper. We maybe go to Moonlite once a year and it is amazing. We usually get take out from Old Hickory.

I'll take either as longs as someone else pays. I did have Moonlight once when I was over and ate a shameful amount of mutton.

Tell you what though, if I discover that there's no excellent Q to be had anywhere within the confines of the Carolinas...
Then I consider it.

I had some good stuff when I lived in Raleigh. I prefer the eastern Carolina variety to the western Carolina varieties.

Maybe you should try pickleball, less running.

I live a sheltered life. I had no idea such a thing existed.

...My vents include language that would get us in trouble with the moderators. I also assume that several of you are dealing with the same type of crap. But, what we have here is almost comical, toss in a lack of accountability for those that ain't cutting it, mix in p poor leadership, stir in take the screwed up business activity and dump on the well run activity, mixed in with those at the top that drove the screwed up telling those who run the well run activity how to do things and ya got my current mess. Oh, and for those of us running things over budget and last year in terms of both sales and profits, cut back on resources and expenses to help cover for those that can't find their backside with directions and a GPS...

Venting is good or you end up farting a lot.

..
Well you could just take "a bit of a detour" through the Carolinas and drop some off the next time y'all are headed for Orlando. I'll meet you at the Welcome Center and trade you a few pound from "The 521" for some of the Moonlite. We could grab one of the picnic tables there and compare 'em head to head (or shoulder to rib as the case may be).
and as long as you are headed that way, I'm not that far of the beaten path. OK... so I am. A little truth stretching and I will be set to be a politician or an administrator.

Could be worse, you could be a Bills fan. :guilty:

A day late, but Happy Halloween. We had lots of trick or treaters yesterday, too many to count. Still ended up with lots of candy as it started raining in the evening.

We had some friends over and enjoyed the World Series game and some booze as well.

Hope all had a good Halloween and that the kids enjoyed costumes and loaded up on the candy. Lousy weather here for 2nd year in a row - feel bad for the little ones having to deal with wet weather. We just wrapped up celebrating DD's 21st birthday - that's right 21 o_O

So the voting is over and keeping this thread open with a new name won. I hope you like it.
Well played CBO :thumbsup2

Good day yesterday. Gators won and I had chicken wings for dinner. Not many kids came by last night so I still have a ton of candy here. I think this is the last year I am doing the halloween thing.

BBQ, I am dying for some good Que. Not much around here so if I could, I would get in the car and drive up to Moonlite and maybe Old Hickory. Then to top it off, a stop at the bourbon bar.

Well played sir, well played.
