DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I'm seeing more traffic now than I was a month ago. Still low, but... more.

Nice. How long you been working on it?

Have had it for about 3 years now, sat at my in-laws house for 2.5 years doing body work as my father-in-law has the welder. It is coming along but due to no more overtime at work, it is on the back burner.

Hey guys, playing catch up again.
Just gone back to work for two weeks of night shifts (or theoretically it will be two weeks, it's still like running through a mine field every day in this oil & gas industry)

I know Jeff will get this, maybe pkondz but trust me, it is funny.
Darn, I missed the Newfie meme.
Good chuckle as I head back twerk.

Are we perhaps saying those hailing from the great Province of Newfoundland are not the full ticket?
Only da crowd from around da bay.
(I can say that since DW is from da bay)

WDW top 3 list for today is ........................ Top 3 retired Attractions (attractions nighttime spectaculars and parades excluded)
I missed the last couple lists.
My input for this one:
1. Mr Toad's Wild Ride (my 9 year old self loved that ride)
2. Soarin' over California
3. Backlot Express tour (but not sure I have a strong #3...Body Wars, Great Movie Ride, original Journey into Imagination, Maelstrom could all go here)
Interesting side note - I sadly never saw Horizons. My first WDW visit was 1983, just before it opened. My next visit wasn't until April 2000, just after it closed.

Good morning from a rainy Cape Cod, Gents! Not much to report. Been in the stockroom trying to play catch up on filling shop orders, we have over 90 to fill, so that'll keep me busy for a while. They're starting to interview people for the open position that I've applied to. I haven't received my interview yet, so let's hope that happens or I'm going to be one T'd off temp. I may not want to work for this company for years, but I do need a job. The wife and DD have been in a baking mood lately, so I've been coming home to fresh baked banana breads, lemon breads, cookies, brownies, and regular baked breads. Mmmmm This quarantine better get over with soon or I'm not going to be able to fit through the door. Well, off and running. Have a good day, gents, and we'll chat later.

Oh yeah, I can totally understand that. We have our 22 yo son living with us right now, but he is working (and those other 15 years make a big difference). Still, we're all going a little stir crazy, but then again...I'm counting my blessings...none of us have gotten it, I still have my job and other than being cooped up with DW (did I say that?), all is good.

Having too many people in the house can be stressful for everyone, even if they are all adults and, in theory, know how to act.

Yep. When I wasn't doing social distancing and WFH, I was riding just about every day to/from work.
Went on a ride to the beach with DW the other day because she wanted to get out of the house.
I won't say how fast I went, but suffice it to say, glad there weren't any police in that stretch.

I've taken my DD to the beach a number of times. As long as people aren't on top of you you can easily observe proper social distancing.

Good good morning all.

It is a chilly 57 degrees (chilly to a FL born, TX living thin blooded guy), but supposed to be nothing but blue skies and sunshine all day here in Houston. Work has given us a paid day off to help keep the numbers low at work since there isn't much going on at IAH (or any other airport). Now I am a fan of having days off, and I love my wife very much, but something needs to change. Either I need to go back to work (currently have 4 days off 3 regular, one paid day, perks of working graveyard), or she needs to work more, which wont happen because her hours were cut too. Perks of that though is my garage is getting real organized, to the point where I could get some more work done on the 1966 mustang I am rebuilding! The downside to that is I dont have the extra funds coming in to actually do a lot that needs to be done to it. So today's project will be to get some $.99 white spray paint cans from Lowes, and do a fresh coat of paint on our patio furniture. Yard needs a mowin, but with the rain that we had yesterday, that won't happen. In Houston, it takes a couple days of warm weather and sunshine to dry my yard. We have too much clay!

Yeah, my basement's getting pretty organized as well. And I'd like to see that 66 mustang.

I like the perspective. I've been trying to count my blessings--we're not sick, we have our jobs and paychecks. Not much suffering going on in this house.

That's the way I'm looking at it: I'm working, which means I have a paycheck coming in, and I have food on the table.

Hey guys, playing catch up again.

Good to see you back, and working, my friend.

Better than playing mus turd. :lmao: I crack myself up.

a deep product knowledge exercise. And I think you know what that means ;)
I have a couple of suspicions, but not certain which might be correct.

I haven't received my interview yet, so let's hope that happens
Praying it does.

Wait! What? I'm supposed to know how to act?
Mind blown.

Yeah, my basement's getting pretty organized as well.
I don't have a basement, but we are packing getting ready for the new house.

Morning Centurions. Ain't got much for ya today. 2 conference calls cancelled, my inbox is clear, so I am going on a deep product knowledge exercise. And I think you know what that means ;)

Waiting on the rain to start here, hope to get my Friday errands done before it starts. I was hoping to pick up my new running shows today but couldn't arrange for curbside pickup until tomorrow.

If you take the assertion that I build Lego Shops for a living, I could look anyone in the eye right now and say I am doing what my job description is.

Definitely in a place that has a high LEGO spend buddy. We are putting (or supposed to be) a couple of shops in your fine country this year.
You lick your running shoes? 😁
Not just that, but he licks them up.
Ah, our crazy Canadian cousins.

Tonight is Canada night, so we have, in Duke Kaboom's Downtown Diner, Pork Chops with Poutine, and Nanaimo Bars to follow. Bought a couple of cheeky Ciders to go with that. Just chompin' down now on some left over Nanaimo bar base. I gotta give it to ya Darcy, it's pretty good....

Well of course...it's butter, sugar, chocolate and graham crackers. Duh!

But, but, but, you forgot the maple flavored (okay Canada...flavoured) popcorn.

Top O the Mornin Dads and Welcome to Friday! Remember to raise a glass or tip the hat this weekend for all those on the front lines in healthcare and all the other essential workers who have been going into their stores, distribution centers or plants / factories for the past 8 weeks or deliver product to our homes - cheers!

For the Record, retired attractions
  1. Legend of the Lion King - (replaced by Mickey's Philharmagic)
  2. Mickey's Toontown House - our kids grew up there
  3. Great Movie Ride

Lots of love for the Great Movie Ride yesterday. I must be in the minority, then, because I...didn't love it.

I'm not sure I've eaten at 3 restaurants at the current Disney Springs yet. Or maybe it's only 3. Here are my rankings of the ones I've tried:

1. Art Smith's Homecomin'
2. Maria & Enzo's
3. Earl of Sandwich

Can't comment on any of the others.

Love to see some progress shots.

And here I studiously avoided mentioning da bay.

I thought you meant a nap. I like the playing with LEGO... excuse me, working with LEGO better.

Yeah I’d be just a bit ticked off too.

Whoa!!
Better than playing mus turd. :lmao: I crack myself up.
Took me a second. Not bad!

No, his running shows.

I approve.
