DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Me too! Which is also the same start the brothers got.

Not sure if there even was anything there, tbh.
Certainly if there was anything written... it's long ago rotted away.

::yes:: That's what keeps me going too. It's on right now, as I type this. Will be watching it shortly.

I'm pretty sure they will find something by season 45...

...Actually, I think work in general is a bit of an April fool joke, so there’s that..

I'm not the first to say it but will repeat it...we should get to retire around 25 and not show up for work until we are 45 then work until dead. We spend our time making money and then the money to stay healthy.

But... but.... I don't want to go back!

I'm pretty sure they will find something by season 45...
So you're an optimist!

Happy Monday all.

Dan I can't believe you didn't give us a heads up on this!

Hello gents, another week has come. Beautiful weather here yesterday. Sunny and 15C/59F. After a cold winter, that's like shorts and sandals weather.
I got the first BBQ of the year in. Only chicken, but it was still tasty.
Still sunny today. A bit cooler at 10C but I'll take it. At least I don't have to shovel sunshine. I hope it means our weather has finally turned.

Holy Shmoly, I Love "The Curse of Oak Island"!
Love it too... even though it's pretty much guaranteed that they'll never find much of anything.
I enjoy that show too. I have some faith they will find something. At least a couple rocks.
Next time I get to Nova Scotia, I plan n visiting Oak Island. It's actually very close to where my sister-in-law lives. I didn't really watch the show when I visited her a few years ago.

time to take off the winter tires, get the Harleys and Hondas ready for the season.
I haven't been brave enough to take off the winter tires yet. Sheila's Brush is bound to come.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Pretty good weekend around here except for the Tornado Warning we went through Saturday night, that time of the year around here. Have Insurance adjuster and contractor out this morning for hail and wind damage to the roof from about a month ago and guessing they may find more damage after high winds this weekend. Only claim ever on the house and taking a month to get claim going, glad they are "on my side" cause I'd hate to see if they were on the other side.............. Have a good Monday fellas!
Morning chaps from the mother country. Need Duke and UK to do the business to hold up the bracket, as I had Texas over Gonzaga.

Mother’s Day here today, so presents for the Lady K. We have slow roasted Lamb with roast baby potatoes and a beetroot and feta salad.

Maybe washed down with a couple of bottles of Napa’s finest.

Have a great day chaps.
Happy Mothers Day to the Mrs and sounds like a good meal there.
Sounds like a racket! ;)
I think (maybe its just me) we get gipped(will have to look up spelling for that) on fathers day. If we get anything, its maybe a tie.

On a different note...
Work on the car was done yesterday. When we had everything apart, noticed the water pump was leaking just a touch, so...replaced that too. Long day. Today will be more sorting and packing and then drive home tomorrow. Don't know how many of these fabulously fun weekends I can handle. ;)
Glad you got that behind you and look on the bright side, you've been at DaWorld about 45 days already this year :thumbsup2
Looks like I will be holding down the bottom of the bracket challenge before long. Time to cheer for TTU.
Right there with ya.
Evening All,

Got through our first volleyball tournament, falling in the 2-1 in the semi-final. It was a pretty good match, 3rd set was 16-14 for the bad guys. Our best match was the last one and I think the boys may have found their identity, guess we will see next weekend.
Enjoy the last series of VB tournaments with Declan, all the best to him and you down the stretch run.

Whoa! Nice! Only 1C here right now... and snowed a tiny bit this morning (no accumulation, thankfully.)

Nice.
What kind of BBQ? Propane?

At least I don't have to shovel sunshine.

::yes::

They have found things. Nothing really of value (well, one small gold brooch and a few coins) though.

I drove right by it, but didn't stop. Should have.

Sheila's Brush is bound to come.

I had to look that one up. Interesting. :)

Erp! Not fun.

Well, that's not good.

Only claim ever on the house and taking a month to get claim going, glad they are "on my side" cause I'd hate to see if they were on the other side..............

Not sure whether to  or :sad2:

One of the nice things about the SFBA is that you can run a grill almost year-round. I find I don't use the gas grill so much after I got a pellet smoker - I may not get a sear on burgers, but the smoke makes up for it.
I've been really considering a Traeger. Except... I'm the only one who eats much meat so not sure if it's worth it. Decisions, decisions. Suspect the smoker would work when it's -35 and the propane gels and doesn't really work though.

Yeah, just propane. I know most people say charcoal gives better flavour, but it's too much hassle and mess for me. The girls could care less what it's cooked on.
I've toyed with the idea of getting a proper smoker. It seems like as good a pastime to have as any. I'm just not sure where to start.

Ditto.

I thought the iron cross that's supposed to be Roman was interesting. Doesn't mean the Templar Knights buried the Ark of the Covenant there, but still interesting.

I had to look that one up. Interesting. :)
I was hoping at least one person would go "huh?" and look it up.
I don't remember a year where we didn't get it.
I distinctly remember about 20 years ago in late April, I was in my shorts and t-shirt tending to the tulips in the garden one day and shovelling 80cm of snow the next (yes, that's eighty - not a typo)

I went with Rec Tec - I've got issues with Traeger claiming you need to use their pellets or you void the warranty. Haven't tried it in temps that low (doesn't get that cold here in general), but it should work. It'll just go through pellets faster.

Friend of mine mentioned one (I forget the brand) that has a propane sear burner, which is tempting.

[ETA:] Looks like Traeger has backed off on their former "use our pellets or void the warranty" claims after the FTC started cracking down on that last year. So, good for them.

Sorry mate. but i can tell you an alarm system that tells you when you're about to step on lego bricks at 1am in the dark is in active development. And has been for the last 30 years.

loads of my bbq chaps on FB smoke at those temps

I love mine. Costco do some good ones.

Good luck mate

Yep, had to look that one up as well. Who's Sheila?

My brother shared this with me... Today may be April Fool's Day but this is no joke - tickets for the Sabres game Tuesday against the Nashville Predators can be purchased on secondary markets starting at $6.

That means you can attend tomorrow night's game for less than you'd pay for:
  • A beer at the KeyBank Center
  • A dozen Paula's Donuts
  • Jim's Steakout famous steak hoagie
  • Mighty pack from Mighty Taco
  • Ted's hot dog with regular fries and regular drink
  • Burrito from Lloyd
  • Beef on weck from Charlie the Butcher's
  • Spaghetti parmesan from Chef's
I will say that things like this, the Bills, lake effect snows, and ice fishing taught me to endure suffering, so that we can suffer some more.

Enjoy the drink package :drinking1:drinking1…...and the trip :thumbsup2

Enjoy the trip.
