DIS Dads DDC XXXII: A Dole Whip in Paradise

Getting ready for the holiday weekend ownage.

I do have a TiW card, but for every trip we still run the numbers on the quick service dining plan. That way, we can use quick serve credits for breakfast and lunch, and TiW for dinner.

Since we drive, we bring groceries and didn't think about QSDP. Once oldest had to order adult QS, she couldn't finish it all. So, when we do QS now, we split an adult meal and I then have to get a Mickey ice cream sandwich.

Looked like Jim hooked up Darcy with sweet tickets at Fenway Park last night. Darcy and his wife were front-and-center behind home plate, visible on TV with every pitch. I'll have to tell him not to pick his nose so much.

Saw Darcy on FB but not Jim. Those were great tickets.

Good morning guys, hope all is well, Seems like alots going on, in case I can't make it on tomm, Happy 4th to everyone, have a safe one. Tomm marks a week till our GWL over night stay. I'm excited even though it's just one night, haven't stayed out of town since our last WDW trip over a year ago.

I thought your excitement would have waned following my visit.
You have a good holiday weekend as well.

Now the voyage we are considering does already have another one of our members booked on it, but I’m afraid that we’re probably not going to be able to tag along with the larger group after Father’s day. Honestly I feel a bit bad about that, but I also need to go with what works best for the rest of my family.

No need to feel bad about that, family always is first. I would really like to have been at the conventions and cruise, but a solo trip is just not in our budget right now. Hopefully, it will be sooner than later.

Was that one of the DVC discounted days? Now that everyone is upset, you want to share with them the price difference is like $20.

I got that too for either the MNSSHP or the MVMCP and had to double check the math b\c the discount wasn't much. But I'll take ANY discount.

It is. It might make for a long day, as that is also the day we need to be up by 6 to eat breakfast and get kicked off the Disney Magic. We'll try to keep the day low-key so we don't have too many meltdowns at 11pm.

Unsolicited advice...make it a relaxing day as you mentioned. We partied like rock stars for the MNSSHP and I was whooped the next day at AK. I noted in my TR and Norm threatened to revoke my Commando Card.

We’ve pretty much talked ourselves into going to sea on our forth DCL ship. I believe that is referred to over on those threads as a Grand Slam(now I just need for nothing to go wrong between here and next May)

We have done the DCL grand Slam - still not sure if I like the bigger ships or the original 2 more so going on the re-imagined Magic in March to review again

Morning all. It is another beautiful day here. Well, I finally figured out why a group would want an overweight, out of shape me to play tennis. Apparently, there is the over 40 tournament next weekend and they wanted me because I am so ................... over 40 and still have a decent serve. It feels good to be recruited.

Nope, Norm. It was tough love. We need to keep the comments for posterity sake. And turnabout is fair play, b\c if you recall I was the one to initially mention revoking your Commando card during your TR.

Our friends and my wife still bust my chops about that day at AK. A day that will live in infamy apparently.

Morning guys and Happy Independence Day.

Menu today is baked beans, pasta salad, sautéed mushrooms, garlic toast, NY strips and for the non meat eaters, veg burgers. Trying a new recipe for the baked beans and they are prepped and in the fridge along with the pasta salad.

The Patriotic Pirate Princess and the kid that dares to still date her are headed to Homestead AFB tonight to see their fireworks show. I am just going to relax at the house, watch the local fireworks from our street and pick out a patriotic movie to watch.

Everyone have a great day and stay safe out there. That includes our Non-American Cousins.

Independence Day Ownage.

Morning all. It is another beautiful day here. Prayers for all those effected by Hurricane Arthur. We have FIL's retirement/Independence Day party today and another get together with friends tomorrow. Two days of eating & drinking fun for me.

I used to enjoy a nice cigar along with my beer. Since our dds were born, both DW and I have told them the evils of smoking. The found me smoking a cigar with a friend once and kept asking me if I was going to die. Something else to look forward to when the dds are out of the hose.

I don't remember that, but I'll take your word for it. I probably deserved it. AK is the largest park. We used to always go to it the same day we arrived, after me driving in the car all night. Now, it is way more enjoyable to sleep poolside.

Happy Independence Day Dads - all enjoy the family time and taking a couple of minutes to appreciate all that we have from this great country. Traditional hot dogs, burgers, brats, baked beans, potato salad and apple pie here plus tons of appetizer stuff as we are again hosting the 4th for some friends and family. Will be grilling, enjoying a few cold ones and later lighting off some pyrotechnics - drag is it is illegal in our town so have to be very careful.

BBQ chicken legs
Roasted corn on the cob (it is in season here so we got some fresh from the field)

Happy 4th everyone! I hope everyone's having fun and being safe. Spent most of the day going through DDs toys and getting rid of a lot that she never plays with. Now for a few beers and this little treat I found at Cracker Barrel this morning:
