The timing of this comment is perfect... Emma hurt her ankle in soccer practice last night and when it came time to go upstairs to bed she asked for a piggy-back ride up the stairs. I soon realized how long it's been since I last gave her one of those rides :scared: Not the light 40 lbs girl anymore. At 11 she is closer to double that. Plus, she's nearly as tall as DW now. Cant' we just stop this :hourglass???

No stopping it whatsoever, and wait until the other 'changes' begin. Time to clean and load the shotgun.

Okay, Dads, less than two weeks until we begin motoring south. Question, since this drive is going to be during a weekday, what is the afternoon/evening rush 'hour' like for Jacksonville? Might be hitting there around 6-730PM. Should I go straight through or take the east or west bypass? Remember, I'm from North Jersey so my idea of rushhour traffic might be a bit different.

Fed is the best to answer this question. He may even give a tour of his trunk if you let him know when you are driving by :cool2:

Yeah... too late for that heads-up, too. Changes began... fortunately, she hasn't noticed the boys yet... or at least the women have not exposed this information to me yet :scared:

Considering what you’re use to, it may not matter…
but we general take the east loop (I-295 / old:FL-9A) around downtown just as a matter of course.
The west loop is longer and rolls through more overdeveloped suburbs.

:wave2:---->Works in Jacksonville.

DO NOT go the downtown route that time of day. For the most part rush hour (and not like the rush hour you're used to) will be over, but downtown will still be all kinds of jacked up that time of day because of construction.

You're better off taking the "East Beltway" which is 295 East....first exit just past the airport. You'll go up a ramp, curve around to the left over the interstate...jump in the left lane on the overpass because the right lane will end.

Then you're off to the races around Jacksonville (with a nice view over the Dames Point Bridge). It'll take you about 20 maybe 30 minutes to hook back up with 95 again south of town....once you pass the Phillips Highway Exit, you'll be the next series of exits (Daytona is the marker).

Don't go west either, traffic is bad on that one because it's the link to I 10.

I drive the route I just took you every day....from Saint Marys, GA to Gate Parkway.:crazy2:

I must be slacking... didn't even know this year was the 25th ann for DHS. Just saw the post in the DIS Events page. So does anyone have a clue as to the significance of Chocolate Nutella Cupcakes being sold that day?

Cool :thumbsup2

No clue as to the significance of the cupcake though
(other than it will be more expensive than any other cupcake available in the park that day )

On another note....

We're booked at OKW checking in 26 September....looking forward to it.:thumbsup2

That’s a rather nice note there.

Our young’en is doing rather well up in the mountians. He adapted pretty quick and the school suits him well.
The year does seem to have just evaporated. Exams are the week of May 5-9 (less than 2 weeks off) so we’ll be headed up to collect him very soon. The administration has already notified him that he has the requirements met to be registered as a sophomore (barring an unlikely meltdown during finals), so that’s one down and three to go. It’ll be August again before we know it and time to start all over once more.

Scary.

Wow, that does feel like it went fast. On the bright side, it sounds like soon he'll be making enough to starting taking you to WDW, instead of the other way around. :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Nice thought but… He’s majoring in Music-Performance and Music-Ed…
Not professions known for rapidly resulting in high levels of disposable income.

Morning Men! Was looking through some articles this morning and according to Mr. Staggs, FP+ is now unlimited and you can book across multiple parks as of Monday. Once you use the 3 you can book early, you can book a 4th at a kiosk, then a 5th after that is used and so on. You can also book your FP+ at more than one park per day. They are not able to to it via the app yet (tech issues as usual), but are working on it. I'll see if I can find the link. It was on Yahoo.com this morning.

To those dads heading to WDW, yes that means you Paul. Let us know how it works and if FP+ is now closer to original FP, but with MB! Good news from what I have heard.

Was reading on home this weekend (and whole spring) could be a bad one for storms, tornados etc. Prayers and hopes this turns out to be an exaggeration.

Yes, I saw a map on the news this morning that the midwest is supposed to be really bad. Prayers to all that it is overstated and we see none this year.

Happy Friday fellas!

Just one more week!

:thumbsup2+1 Hi David.:wave2: Continued wishes that it goes well with no hiccups.

My 11 year old DD is 5'5" and 128lbs. They grow up fast. I can still give her piggy back without threat of injury though. Just sayin'.:rolleyes1

:scared: Yup, too late for that here as well. :sad2::sad2: Would it be appropriate to hire a female UFC fighter as a body guard at this point? DD11 has noticed the boys, but has expressed no interest :cool1::thumbsup2 as she is focused on sports for now. We had a very long and uncomfortable discussion.

No news on the cupcake. Pretty cool that it has been 25 years already.

DD and I will be there 10/3-10/8. When we get closer, maybe we can find a time to meet and say hi.

hey guys. :wave2:

So 7 days until the trip. Drank too much scotch last night and ended up extending the trip by a day. Having an extra day in WDW is wonderful, but when I realized the cost of changing the flights and now needing to find a room for that night, well lets just say it was sobering.

The lesson, as always, I'm an idiot. :thumbsup2

I'll get on that and report back. :thumbsup2

Anyone else going to be there in a week? :confused3 No trips on page 1, but it would be great to meet some other dads. I'm hoping someone can restore my faith in this group after getting to know the rest of you so well... ;)
