Ugh. When we did last year's trip we didn't unpack for the two nights at Cocoa Beach, just lived out of the bags, don't unpack till Disney. I'm with you on that one.

Last year was the girl's first encounter with the ocean, reactions to the salt water was mixed. We'll go again next year, but after that, move on to something new.

It takes me a lot of effort to even get DW into the lake at the cottage. I won't even try to get her into the ocean.

I grew up swimming in the ocean and pretty much any other water source we could find. The only time I ever was scared or concerned about going in the water was when I saw JAWS at 9 years old. I basically was terrified for months and wouldn't go in. Thanks mom.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: DW doesn't swim much, but enjoys baking at the beach under the sun.

I just walked through my whole house and told everyone how it was going to be. No one objected ;)

So you're home alone huh? ;)

A small technicality

That a boy! Tell the dog how you really feel. :lmao::lmao:

Are most of those posts "last"?

An attempt at LAST maybe.:goodvibes

Top of the morning guys

Morning David.

Morning.

Rainy one today

Morning Brent. Sunny and 70 in New England today.

All this exercise stinks. After joining this tennis league, I've been hurting. I'm sure it has NOTHING to do with my weight, age, or years of inactivity. Thankfully, prednisone is magic. I'm just hoping my Dr will keep me hooked up.

Tennis on the Wii or PS4 is so much easier. Joining a tennis "league" is just self punishment.

She said yes!!

Bet that don't happen often.:lmao::rotfl2:

We can still make him an honorary member. Again, condolences to your family.

I'm sure he would appreciate the honor. Thanks CJ.

Yeah, I'm not getting a lot of work done right now. I'm stuck trying to figure out when to go. :confused3 Dec 3/4 to 7, Dec 10/11 to 14, or Oct 29 to Nov 2. Slightly lighter crowds in October and the chance to see the Halloween party. But I will have been there in early October for a race. Tough decisions. Crowd levels are manageable no matter what I choose. DVC availability may be the determining factor. I'd like a deluxe which means I need a studio. No way I'm paying rack rates. I liked POR last time so that's an option.

Since it is the last trip for a while, DD and I went big and we are staying CR-Theme Park View. Monorail and a view of MK lit up every night. It will also be nice to be able to walk back to the resort after MNSSHP and the EMH night. Will be there from a Friday night through Wednesday afternoon. We went around Dec. 10th one year and the weather was pretty much all over the place. Cold for a a few days and then warming into the 70's. We are heading to POFQ this August with the family and like both PO locations, but FQ a little more.

Can't beat that walk to MK, and having the Poly right there off the monorail! It's what convinces us to buy into BLT...

Stayed at POFQ last month, loved it. :thumbsup2

We've been at POFQ a couple of times and really like it there. We've had one stay at the Poly for 2 nights with an nice surprise upgrade to concierge. It will be hard to go back without that upgrade.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Good news!

Bummer. The only studios left are in SSR. Not sure if I want that or not. Time to price out the moderates.

Fellas-

If they come out with discounted rooms for my date range, I can get in to POR for the same $$ as renting points at SSR. So all other things being equal, which resort would you prefer?

I'm partial to SSR of those two choices, especially DTD view. But, SSR has two feature pools and the Turf Club prime rib was excellent.

Congrats on the 6,000 so that's 2,850 meaningful posts :surfweb:

No one claimed they were meaningful.

Well, found some time to go back and see what's going on around here. I knew my late uncle was a Disney fan and went a lot, but during the funeral I got a new appreciation for his affection. He had been 44 times and the pictures boards and pins on his burial jacket were Disney themed. While he was never a DisDad officially, he will always be one and his qualifications went above and beyond. Thanks to all of the well wishes.

What a great way to be remembered. Continued prayers for all the family.

Blasphemy I say! Paint a beach picture n your fence and tell them to enjoy.:lmao::lmao:
.

That's another good idea.

Tennis on the Wii or PS4 is so much easier. Joining a tennis "league" is just self punishment.

I play Wii tennis left handed just to give the family a chance. They never win.

:
72% of all statistics are made up.

Which can only be proven 40% of the time.

For me it would be POR but I have never stayed at either. SSR just always seemed far away to me.

Early December is popular with DVC members because point costs are low. Never stayed at SSR (only there and AoA left to do) but a studio is a studio. Nice room.

My favorite moderate is POFQ but because of size it sells quickly and discounts are not always available. POR is my second choice especially the Mansions section.

Good luck.

Having the studio is a positive, but the location seems out of place a little. The pools are very nice, yes I said poolS. We never stayed overnight, but did a few day trips over there when friends were staying.

I would say it depends on your taste. If you want to get to places faster and the resort is less of a perk, then go with a room at POR. If you plan to spend a lot of time at the resort, a studio at SSR would be more beneficial.

Just to make it even more confusing for you, I agree with others that POFQ is the best bet if you can get a discount. They are hard to get there though.

OK, not sure how I missed it if it was reported on here. Disney is having a hard ticket event on August 23rd called "Villians Unleashed" at HS. Guess who just got his tickets. Thats right. This guy.:cool1::cool1:

Not sure when it was announced, but it sounds similar to the craziness of last year, but with some planning and limited ticket sales. Over 50 of the villains are supposed to be running around. The date just happened to fall into our dates. Looks like Villains and MNSSHP this year.:thumbsup2

Congrats. I saw it advertised, but not in the budget. I still want to try the MVMCP first.

Second the honorary DISDad membership :thumbsup2

Think we start an Honorary DISDads list on page 1 with Jim's uncle as the first member ?

Either but we have done SSR before and the transportation was not that bad but POR is closer for parks. Staying at SSR between Christmas and New Years this year as only DVC 1 or 2 bedroom I could get at 7 mos. window. Home resort is AKL and that just does not work for the family for Christmas.

Afternoon fellow dads, hope all is well with everyone. Not a lot going on here, thinking about taking DD on a quick great wolf lodge trip next month. I'll start training next week for ToT 10 miler and technically Star Wars too. Working on hotel for the DL trip, wanna do Grand Californian but might just stick with Fairfield for price( about a 1k diff) Here's a pic of DD in her Elsa costume before we left for the party last week. http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums...0-579F-4EAA-83A5-E99FE4C98D90_zpsy68jk7py.jpg

Behind as usual. Congrats, prayers, welcome, and bacon as appropriate! Not sure what genius thought that the fiscal year for an ag school should come June 30th  but according to the latest from the Ivory Tower, the Medical School and associated units account for over 40% of our revenue so maybe we aren't an ag school anymore. At least it rained today so I had a good reason not to be doing field work and working on end of year reports instead. Two grants finishing out and then it is time to get back to writing more. Sweet potatoes are looking good and I set a new personal record for my strawberry research, 21,000 lbs/acre scaled up from one variety. Average yields about 14,500 lbs from the variety I recommend. A person could make $$$ that way.

Great picture of princess: and Olaf

Thank you, That's her MNSSHP and Halloween costume. I was thinking of going as Jack Sparrow since that's what my dumbed down ToT 10 miler costume is but I think I'm going to do a make shift Olaf costume.
