I figured what you meant. Still, it is sad to see families separated, even when they are beer can families.

No big loss, I have very few multi-packs, my majority are single units. Most torn apart are the usual suspects (Old Milwaukee/Ice, Busch, PBR) Although some idiots decided they wanted two cans of Kilkenny from the 4 pack, as did someone else, but rather then take the two cans left, they ripped open ANOTHER pack, tore the cardboard rendering I couldn't put the remains together :sad2:

Hey Philip. We don't take our dds out of school. But, it not because I think it is bad, but because I don't want to deal with the hassle from the school. Besides, one or two days isn't anything. While there is no chance of me running, I will be there this October along with several other DisDads who are will be.

I love the fact the school would give you a hassle, seeing this year they'd close the school for snow/ice if you had dropped a slurpee on the ground.

I know it's strange, I haven't luckily had any dealings with it, DD only missed a few days for dental reasons and she had a doctors note but I have heard stories where if you take them out for vacation they throw a fit. But I don't think one day here and there will cause a problem. 2 days in one school year and one in another.

Maybe get BIL and SIL a cabin and the rest of the family can stay at PO.
!

I had already thought about that. FIL said we all have to stay at same resort. I did prices for value, moderate, DVC, and cabins, along with food, different dining plans, tickets, and gasoline costs for the three vehicles. The only thing I left out was souvenirs, which he'll probably just give cash to the grand kids and say that is that.

Hey dads. Checked the list but I'll ask here- any dads in the World for spring break on March 29?

I'll arrive April 6. Tony will be there the week before.

Alright registered for 2014 ToT 10 miler! Now to look into renting points and possibly staying at boardwalk, sadly I am no longer a DVC member so gotta go back to renting. How has everyone been? I've missed being on the boards hopefully I can be on more often. Is the DDCC the cruise next time? Or is there another Marathon weekend convention?

I had to sell my BLT contract as well. When the van died, I sold it to buy DW a car. I inherited the Pontiac Aztek. I still have my BWV contract.

The classic, best beers of the all. I can go to Canada and buy PBR as an imported beer. It would taste way better then. :lmao:

And, they equally hassle everyone. They threatened to file a Petition for Educational neglect on a friend who took his kids out for a week. It was elementary school, one kid had all As, the highest AR reading points, and the other kid was in kindergarten.

Ill def let you know but we will likely see y'all there, have y'all ever used Disneys in room baby sitting service? I may need to use it, unless I can talk a fellow DisDad and his family into spending a few hours with her while I do the race lol. .

You would trust some crazy DisDad to watch your child? :crazy2:

"Immediately, SIL has decided her youngest child (infant) won't be going on vacation with everyone because he would be too young to enjoy it."

Those type of people tick me off you don't go for the child to remember it.... you go because you can take pictures and the child will still be interested in what's goint on. Also you will remember it.:

And, even more so, FIL is paying for the whole trip. He just wants all his children and grandchildren to be together. But, since she is not getting her way, she wants to screw it up somehow for everyone. Self-absorbed witch, without the w.. :furious:

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that Norm, I also sold mine for Car/house reasons so I understand. I guess until I get burned I'm cool with renting points.

Well..... Even though I said Fellow DisDad, I actually was meaning hopefully I can sweet talk a fellow crazy DisDads sweet DW and DDs and I could help with some of the expenses lol

Winter Storm Warning in effect Sunday evening through Monday afternoon here in Richmond. Flight leaves at 1:15 on Monday. Stay tuned!! 3-5 inches expected.

I think its time for Disney to end this marketing campaign for Frozen. We he tit its endless winter, enough already.

No worries. It was the BLT Contract or emergency fund. It was an easy decision, as difficult as it was.

How have you and the family been? DD and I are doing good! Finally got my downstairs bathroom completed after 6 months in our house.

That would bug the **** out of me good luck I hope it works out.

Yes, we are doing well. No major changes except DW was promoted at work about a month ago, so we have a little more income. We've just been hiding at home, trying to keep warm and stay off the icy roads.

Thanks. I've been dealing with them now for 14 years, so I am used to it. They live a mile away, but we only see them for holidays and kids birthdays. SIL doesn't speak to me anymore since I won't give them any money. It is sad.

That's great congrats to DW! Was in Louisville last weekend and thought about y'all, wish I had kept more in touch over the past year. Trying to get Boardwalk for our Oct weekend, do you know if there's still availability?

I can't say much I don't see my grandparents nearly enough but my parents live 3 miles away and they can't stand not to see DD so we usually see them every week.

This sometimes is a touchy subject here on the DisBoards. But in my opinion, elementary school-aged children should not pose any problems with pulling out of school a few days for a trip to The World. Once they get in middle school/junior high, it becomes a lot more difficult to make up the work.

Ditto

To bad we can't keep page one up to date with info like that. :scratchin

Life is busy - no worries. I know your dd keeps you busy. BWV is booked up for the race weekend. You have some days earlier in the week, but not for Thursday forward.

Good morning fellow dads, I know I have been absent a lot from the boards, hope everyone is doing well, I have a question, I have been getting more and more active in running and exercise and plan on doing the Coast to Coast RunDisney races next year with Marathon Weekend 2015 and Avengers Half 2015 but since those are not until next year I've been thinking of also doing the ToT 10 miler this year, my question is about pulling kids from school to go to Disney, do many of my fellow dads do this?

For ToT I would need to take DD6 out the Friday before fall break (if DD wants to do the 5k, we are doing a glow run 5k next month so that will prob help decide)Marathon weekend the Friday after coming back from Winter break and Avengers I'm assuming also the Friday mainly all for packet pickup. Is it wrong to think of pulling a child out of school for a Disney trip?
I think it's really a combo of knowing what your kids can handle and what your school will do. We've always made a habit of volunteering a lot in the kids' schools and helping the teachers a lot. So each of the last three years we've yanked them out for a week. Those days are coming to an end soon, but for now it's really easy.
Yes, we arrive that Sat, October 4. We are booked at the BWV.
I'm at SSR getting in the day before you.

I checked in to renting. I don't know what size room you need, but the only place with a studio is SSR.

We've never had any issues, but you guys in the States have a whole different ballgame. We've called them in for flu etc. I know some that miss a LOT more then that and nothing is said. I think if they were struggling, then they'd speak up. If we do it again we will request some work and an idea what will be on that week's lesson plan and help them out.

I'd take it one step further and flaunt what I have, just to rub it in, but I'm a mean spiteful hate-filled cynic. :rolleyes1

Here is a excerpt from DW's TR just to point out why you take the little ones.

Winnie the Pooh walked up to the side of the table and looked down at Landon, who was sitting in my lap.

He was instant smiles!

At home, Landon has this large stuffed Pooh that he played with all the time, and when he saw his old buddy standing there, waving to him, his eyes lit up and he broke into his big toothless grin.

I wanted to start bawling right then and there.

There was absolutely no fear with this character; in Landon’s mind his old pal had just came to life and was dropping by to say hello.

Dad, look! Look, Dad, it’s Winnie the Pooh!!!”

I might not remember how the food tasted 10 years from now, or what the rest of the day was like, but I will always remember how excited Landon got at seeing Winnie. As a parent, there’s these BIG MOMENTS that you remember when you take your kid to Disney, and that was one of them for me. He was just so unbelievably happy, as only a baby his age could be, and I wanted to bottle that moment up and hold on to it forever.

I don't know the pre-race rituals, so let me know which day works better - Saturday or Sunday.

No need to flaunt it. Haters gonna hate.

No need to persuade me. I took my youngest when she was 15 months. I'm right there with you.

We are leaving Sunday and the race is at night so Saturday afternoon would work for a meet up, I know y'all will get in early so just let me know when's best for y'all. I'm excited!

Normally, we go to Mass Saturday evening when we are at WDW on vacation. CJ and Chris and some other DisDads are going to be there that weekend. I'm hoping to get a group meet in. Since I don't know the race stuff, I'm going to stay flexible and hopefully coordinate schedules. Maybe I can talk DW into going to Mass Sunday morning.
