Received word that my BIL has finally passed away. Looks like services are this Saturday in Ohio. Will probably wait to travel until Friday morning considering all we have going on here locally. Going to be a long weekend for our family. Thanks for your prayers and thoughts this week.

Sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family!

Some good financial news on the tech side.

We are normally slow here over the summer and into September. It has been crazy to the point half of our customers are waiting for our production facility to catch up. After closing everything out yesterday afternoon I started the revenue/sales analysis and we are up 40% over last years first quarter.:cool1: October is already booked over projection so it should keep going at least for a little while. We could have done better, but just don't have the capacity to build any faster. The good news is we are kicking butt, the bad news is no time to take days off for a while until we get everything caught up.

Even better news is that if we can keep it going, we'll see some good Christmas bonuses this year.:cool1::cool1:

I smell another trip coming up!

got a phone call Tuesday afternoon from B. when she got into work, they told her she was being "deployed" (disneys words, not mine. figure I would save the thread three pages on my choice of words)

she was happier then a pig in poop. :rotfl: she got depoyed once before and was a character assistant for the ferries.

they sent her back to costuming for some new threads. she had a ball!!!!
the people said she did a great job.

can you figure out where she was sent? she posted on her face book that she always wanted to work in this place.

Woohoo! That's awesome

Continued prayers.

Thanks, guys. Please especially keep Emma in your thoughts. This will be her first funeral experience. She's a strong kid, but I'm not sure how she is going to take all this in.

Will do. You're a great dad. I took mine when they were younger, and they did better than I thought as well as behaving better than some of the adults.

I'll be at the MNSSHP on Sunday. I'll look for her.

Hope you all stay healthy and have safe travels. I doubt if you will be sleeping much :hyper:
.

Still sleeping, but getting excited. I'm having a soccer practice Thursday so I can get tired and sleep.

The other months are overrated.:lmao::lmao: So it looks like you have never been for the Christmas decorations and party. I would suggest you go at least once around that time. .

I wish I had taken them out of school way back when. I really want to go that week in Nov when I can get a MNSSHP & MVMCP in the same trip. Still, one trip each month sounds like a good challenge.

And for this weekend:
- I tow the freshman class float in the homecoming parade (trailers and trucks, very manly)
- I endure the 25th wedding anniversary party my wife has planned for months.
- I watch football Sunday which is greatly enhanced by my irrational decision to spend the money for DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket.

Suddenly, I realize I do not know if the party location allows beer. Uh oh.

Assuming this is your 25th Anniversary, then congrats. If they outlaw beer, you can always smuggle in whiskey in the flask.

I am still available for that high paying job. I'll work from the camper in CJ's driveway.

This hasn't been the best of week for me lately. Haven't said much about it cause I'm trying to keep upbeat, but it's time I shared. Last weekend my mom's father (my grandpa) in Ohio passed away. His health had been declining for weeks and so this was not unexpected. The sad thing is he was not a well-liked man. He did not treat people nicely. I grew up around him and he was always grumpy and did not like kids. I never understood him. He was a WW2 vet as a Seabee and he never talked about it. Still don't know what he did or what he experienced. No services were held for him this week and he was cremated. Still haven't fully dealt with this. Probably won't hit me until I'm back in Ohio.

Next up... my BIL... my wife's sister's husband. He was diagnosed with throat cancer last Thanksgiving and was given only months to live. On Friday we got the call from my MIL that he was with hospice and they gave him about 48 hours to live. He's still hanging in there today even with all the drugs... cannot see... cannot speak. We will be traveling to Ohio to be with the family after he passes. But from what I am hearing from MIL it's not going to be easy as his side of the family is not accepting the fact that he is dying. Plus... one brother is in a lot of debt and is already trying to figure out how to get money from his dead brother. :confused3 Really sad... and also makes me angry at how his family is acting in his final hours.

To add to this, we have had reservations for months to go camping this weekend... something DD really looks forward to each year. Just been a roller coaster of emotions this week.

Thanks for letting me share. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
Ouch. You're in my prayer queue. Good luck dealing with all of that. Hopefully things work out for the best.

Nervous. The Reds offense hasn't shown up in about a week, so either

A. That will continue and the season will be over.

B. They'll bust out of the slump and roll to the NLCS before they likely let the bats go to sleep again (based on the typical pattern of their offense this year)

Truthfully, I don't like this new format, and I realize the Reds would be on the outside looking in under the old format. But I'm ok with that. They would have had their chance to play their way in last week, and they didn't.

The one game play in for the Wild Card really kind of takes away from "earning" a Wild Card, IMO. You fight all season to get in the playoffs and there's a good chance you only get one game. I realize that it has always been a 1 game tie breaker, if necessary, to finalize playoff positions and I'm fine with it in that situation. It just feels almost like a joke to me, to call a 1 game series part of the playoffs when it is really just 1 game for one of those teams and there's a good chance that their fans will not even see a home playoff game. :confused3

Let's go Bucs! After a 20 year hiatus from a winning season, let alone the playoffs, Pittsburgh is an awesome city to be in right now. It's been awesome seeing the fan base return. It's been very special. And these guys are a good bunch. There's been a lot of local stories about them doing work in the community and such. It's really nice to see\hear that with all of the negatives we see regarding the NCAA and pro athletes.

I'm mixed on the WC format. I like the 2 WC team but don;t like the 1 and done. I'd prefer a 3 game series. I also understand it could push the World Series into November.

I hate the new wild card format too. Baseball has had 5 and 7 game series for their playoffs. Now you want to add a single game playoff just so you can give another team a shot. Sounds stupid to me. It also kills the rotations for the wild cards while the other teams have an extra day. Just plain stupid.[/QUOTE]
I think the Reds went through eleven-teen pitchers last night. Not sure what they would have done if they had won and needed to play again on Thursday. I share your sentiment on the WC. Like I said though, if you're going to do it, make a 3 game series.:confused3

I'm mildly excited about the NHL season starting. IMO, like MLB and NBA, the season is too long. I loved the shortened season last year. My prediction is that the Penguins dominate the regular season and then get bounced early in the playoffs by less talented team. Oh wait, that was last year...and the year before...

Sorry to hear that Don. May your BIL rest in peace and your family find the closure they need.

Good morning :rotfl2:

We got some good news yesterday. Our agency confirmed that we can send small photo albums to our kiddos in Poland :cool1: this will be the first time they learn that someone wants to adopt them. We have thought of them everyday since we committed to them early this year, it chokes me up thinking that they will soon know they have a forever family coming for them soon.

Wow, thats exciting! Good luck!

brettcw23 => 12-19 Boardwalk Villas
Twin Dad => 14 - 26 - Coronodo Springs
that's nice => 17 - 22 POFQ

While I cannot commit to any formal meet and greets w\ other DISDads, is there a general protocol? If possible, I wouldn't mind getting a photo with my DISDad bretheran.:wave2:

However, I am at the mercy of my Commando wife. Last year when we took my MIL, I had a lot more freedom b\c we were able to maintain the 1:1 adult:kid ratio. This time DW will keep tabs on me...especially when we are near Jasmine or Belle.:woohoo:

Great news to for you. Keeping growth in check is also a good thing. I have seen many companies get themselves in trouble with unchecked growth.

I'm going to take a stab and say she is selling popcorn by Town Hall.

I interviewed 3 potential translators today. One very experienced, one with a good level of experience and one with only a couple of years worth of experience. Of course the best candidate turned out to be the one with the most experienced and most likely to cost us the most. Go figure!

:lmao::lmao: I was thinking he meant Stanley, North Carolina.

Not a lot of folks “who ain’t from ‘round here” even know there is such a thing as Stanly NC.

Very sorry for your families loss Don.
Share extra hugs and know that we’re all thinking of you.

That does look like one happy young’en. I don’t recognize the threads though, so you’ll have to tell us more about what she was up to when you get a chance.

Imagine that.
It’s obvious you don’t work down this way or there’d be no question that the least experienced one would be hired without any question or hesitation.

Nothing is more important here then the bottom line.

Nothing.

The least experience candidate was actually my pick going in for a couple of reasons. In sport we tend to give people a start in their careers and on paper he fit the bill. Had the education, love for sports and enough experience that it seemed like he would be able to do the job. However his interview was so atrocious there is no was I could justify hiring him.

Don: So sorry for your family's loss. Prayers for you and the family through this difficult time.

Good morning (or afternoon or evening)... just wanted to say hope all of you with family and job challenges see better times soon...

and as we slide off HUMP DAY toward the weekend you can at least enjoy a beer, some bacon, and some football* or rugby.

*either kind will do

My activities for the past few days:
I have rearranged and deep cleaned the house, closed the pool, built a new dinette for the Kitchen (4 chairs and a table that came in an amazingly small box!)

Uh oh.

Sounds as if Sunday will be a well-earned day of rest.

More travel money! :thumbsup2

I haven't a clue so obviously some serious research time is needed. Feel free to send any contributions towards my education and I will learn to answer these questions.

Brian, as controller of the Universe did you have an off night last night?

As I woke up today, the Leafs were in first place and undefeated. (even after playing a game) :scared:

I think this is one of the signs of the Apocalypse.
