Nervous. The Reds offense hasn't shown up in about a week, so either
A. That will continue and the season will be over.
B. They'll bust out of the slump and roll to the NLCS before they likely let the bats go to sleep again (based on the typical pattern of their offense this year)
Truthfully, I don't like this new format, and I realize the Reds would be on the outside looking in under the old format. But I'm ok with that. They would have had their chance to play their way in last week, and they didn't.
The one game play in for the Wild Card really kind of takes away from "earning" a Wild Card, IMO. You fight all season to get in the playoffs and there's a good chance you only get one game. I realize that it has always been a 1 game tie breaker, if necessary, to finalize playoff positions and I'm fine with it in that situation. It just feels almost like a joke to me, to call a 1 game series part of the playoffs when it is really just 1 game for one of those teams and there's a good chance that their fans will not even see a home playoff game.
