Hey guys,

Just found out my dad had a stint put in today. Apparently he had 78% blockage in one artery. I thought he was just going in for tests. Feeling really strange right now. My mother said he is feeling a lot better but it still shocked me that this all happened so quick. Anyone been through this before?

Prayers. Mom went through quadruple bypass 15 years ago and is doing well. Bit of a shock when it first happens, but medical care makes advances every year. Sounds like they caught it before anything bad happened.

This happens all the time. Theyre so easy to put in now and carry such a low risk, cardiologists are doing this to avoid problems down the line. And it's amazing how well someone can look with major blockage!

I think Doc said it well. My grandpa, and my wife's grandpa have both had this happen. While anything with the heart is a big deal, this seems to be becoming more and more commonly done all the time. Just be thankful that the blockage was caught before it became something more than just "having a stint put in when he was in for tests."

The only experience I have had with them is getting pulled into a debate one time at municipal golf course. There were a couple of old guys hanging around the clubhouse when I went in to pay. They were trying to figure out if that thing that goes in your blood vessel was a "stInt" or a "stEnt". I told them I thought it was a "stent." I went out and played my round of golf and their argument may or may not have come to blows.
