DIS Dads DDC XXVII: Penguins in Paradise!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

I don't think you have much to fear from penguins, unless Randall taught them how to stab people.

CJ, would you please ask Crash to finish the job on Paul?

At the DDC, I saw Crash huddled with the penguins demonstrating how to use a shiv.

Been AWOL because of a screwed up shoulder. The pain is killing me. Can't sleep, driving is Beverly worthy painful, and I can't work. The crap the doctor gave me doesn't do anything. This happens every once in a while so I know the drill. Hopefully it doesn't last much longer.

Hi All!

Life's been pretty crazy around here lately. Work, work, home, more work. Blah!

At least today is a bit more managable and I'm only 9 days from Maui! :cool1:

What are some of the table service restaurants you HAVE to go to every time you are in WDW?

For our must do list is Ohana's and Chef Mickey. This coming trip we're doing Hoop-De-Doo for the first time. Looking forward to that. Previously we had hit Coral Reef for the "Eating with the Fishes" aspect, but the food is meh and we're not going back this coming trip. Kids loved the atmosphere there though.

Hope the pain pills kick in there CJ. Just keep swimming.

Prayers for those in need, praise for those deserving, bacon for all.

Randall must have a stockpile of penguin photos to add when referenced. :lmao:

Afternoon....semi-skimmed through things, been tied up with other stuff, work etc and keeping the girls entertained through March Break :rotfl2:..

After canceling the Spring Break trip, I'll have 4 days to entertain them before we meet up with David. You all doing anything special?

I heard the reigning DisDad Fantasy Baseball Champ is interested in playing again this year. Oh, wait... that's me - I'm interested in playing again this year. :cool1:
. :)

:lmao:

Our plan was to try to try all the restaurants at least once. We've made some for multiple meals, but not all. Also, there are some we just intentionally skip because we do not like the menu. With that said, Fulton's Crab House has been one of our repeats. We also do Akershus or CRT Breakfast as we like the morning ADR before the park opens, and we like both of those breakfast meals. ESPN Club is usually a repeat on Wednesday, as we go to Welcome Home Wednesday at Boardwalk for DVC. I think we may try Shula's next time around though.

What happened? Fall out of the hammock? Napping too hard? :lmao:

Seriously, hope you feel better or find a better doctor for better drugs.

Well, maybe I'll consider DVC some more if we are exposed to more dihydrogen monoxide. You have to watch out for that.

I'm not smart enough to know what that is. :thumbsup2

Epic post #500 for me! :cool1:

Just booked our October trip from 10/12/2013 - 10/19/2013
Unfortunately,we did not get the resort we wanted :(
Booking at the 7 month mark via DVC and making reservations at the time when the Wine & Food Festival is going on makes finding the desired resort difficult.
So I booked us for OKW and have a wait list for BWV. At BWV, 10/13 was available but I can't book that until tomorrow. So I am going to try and re-book tomorrow, keeping our arrival day at OKW and then migrating to BWV.

Oh, well, we'll see.:confused3

Congrats on the milestone. I do hope you get the preferred resort, but OKW is a nice resort. It is still better to be there than not at WDW.

I have to plan a trip to France in Summer 2014. I was dumb enough to tell DS we could go as soon as he could speak French.:headache: I must have been drinking.:scratchin He already memorized the bible in about 2 weeks when he was 8. Not sure why I thought it would take him longer to learn another language. Oh well.:confused3 France is it!

That's really cool.

Ok, I'm trying to see what kind of interest we have in a DDC fantasy baseball league this year. We have a thread, right here, discussing it.!

Andy, I didn't post over there. If you are short one, then I will join. I enjoyed it last year, although admit I do not follow baseball as close as other sports.

Tonight is one of my favorite shows - Hell's Kitchen. I can do without all the Gordon yelling, but it is a part of the show.

We do Crystal Palace and Ohana every trip. Rose N Crown is another we have tried to work in on most trips.

Is it FRIDAY yet?? :hourglass

Well, after planning a possible WDW trip in November, then being told to wait until next year, I have now been told that we can plan a surprise trip for the kids this year at the end of July! I figure we better keep it a surprise in case 'the boss' changes plans AGAIN. :lmao:

Congrats on reviving the trip and moving it up on the calendar even.
POR is high on out list as well; would love to get back there sometime.

As for TS meals our favorites include Rose & Crown, Kona Café (especially for breakfast), and I’ve always enjoyed the Garden Grill in the Land Pavilion at Epcot as well (the veggies are harvested out of the greenhouse onsite and are particularly good). Another one I like is Restaurant Marrakesh in the Morocco pavilion (for a couple of reasons), but… the North African style menu dosen’t suit everyone and while the kids can get a burger, they won’t put any cheese on it.

That’s no good.
May that nonsense clear up in the near rather then off down the road.

Sound like my schedule lately.
Except for the Maui in nine days bit of it there…
(the Blah! bit of it… that I’ve got)

Have fun on that trip and tell us all about it latter on.
That about a close as I’ll be getting to Hawaii any time soon.

What are some of the table service restaurants you HAVE to go to every time you are in WDW?

We've always worked in Sci Fi for lunch and Tusker for Breakfast each time. We've done Akershus three times for breakfast, switching it up and doing lunch this time around. We try and mix it up, with putting news places into the mix with returning favorites.

What are some of the table service restaurants you HAVE to go to every time you are in WDW?

Our every time staple restaurants are - Ohana's, Teppen Edo & T-Rex with Shula's & Boma's after the next trip will also be staple since they are newer on my list:thumbsup2

Morning Guys!
Busy day today, but today is the day I pay off the Disney trip!! WHoohoo!!

Matt

I tell you what, you pay me off with a few cold beers and I won't spend the entire 3.1 miles next weekend running behind you and singing small world in your ear the entire run...

I think Not! Just want to see if you can go that slow. :lmao:
