Abigail was diagnosed with Hydronephrosis when she was still in the womb. Its basically where one kidney doesn't function as designed. In her case, her left kidney would always retain fluid, and was slower in processing than the right one. She had semi annual checkups for the first 4 yrs, and then went to annual.

At 5, we noticed she had alot of blood in her urine, and being quite alarmed, we made an appointed again with her urologist. Although she had no pain, she was diagnosed with her first kidney stone. She did the whole sonic treatment, and everything passed normally. Since then, we have been forcing alot of water on her and hoping that we dont have a repeat of the stones.

So, all in all, this was very good news for us.

Matt

Wow...glad to hear it was good news!

Wow. I'm glad to hear she is doing well! The reason I asked is because my DD only has one kidney due to her cancer so we've been going for cancer screenings and kidney function tests since she was 1.

We are constantly forcing DD to drink water. She is probably sick of hearing us tell her to drink her water but it's what we have to do. We try to get her to drink 40 oz of water and 16oz of milk a day.

Glad to hear both girls are doing well. My brother in law basically only has the use of one kidney. He was born with on kidney covered in cysts. He has lived a "normal" life with only one kidney and only had to protect that area when playing sports. He tells me that it dosent bother him really, I think the other one has compensated for the one that is not working right.

Water is definitely a good thing, I try to explain to brother in law that beer is not really the same as water. :lmao:

Audrey : There are a lot of people living here..

DW afterwards knowing I would have said hi and talked to the "kinfolk": How is H (my uncle's nickname) doing?
Me: Well, he hasn't gotten any better yet. :rolleyes2

That one’s going to become part of family legend;
the kind of story that gets retold at reunions and family gatherings.

Morning guys.... should be chaotic today, for some reason I get left in charge of the store today.

Excellent…
We’ll have the truck at the back door in an hour.

Nope strictly volunteer. There are no paid coaches here in middle and high school. Even my years as a university volleyball coach was only a part-time position. Of course they expectded full-time hours.

It’s volunteers that make the world go around.

You hate to see any young’en suffer. We’ve been very lucky so far is not having deal with such issues. I can only imagne how hard it is to have to always be on the watch.
Prayers for continued good news.

All Juliana drinks is milk and water. She doesn't like juice, soda, iced tea, lemonade- nothing. She loves water so I guess that is one battle we don't have to fight. ::yes::

I have one child who would drink anything - milk, water, soda, tea if we let her. The other child only drinks water or lemonade.

It's almost Friday afternoon, can't wait to get this day over, going to a beer fest tomm, 25 brewers and a ton of beer, DDs spending the night with the grandparents and I have a designated driver (not to be confused with my DD) so should be a good Saturday then gotta get back to cleaning Sunday, good balanced weekend

Gets lots of pictures. Wait, those might come back to hurt you later,

Happy Birthday Carl and Todd!

Another great tv dad.

So just talk to DW and she text me a few minutes later to ask how much I spent on the new bottle of Knob creek bourbon, I laughed and told her. Keep in mind she just ran around town and dropped near 200 on odds and ends. I guess I just have to laugh.
.

Spend too much money on bourbon? I don't understand that.

Youngest dd asked me to post on Dis Dads. Apparently, they know I spend a lot of time here.

temporary_zpsad69f9c3.jpg

Oldest dd and DW went to a school field trip. They left at 5:00 AM and are still not back. They went to some farm or Amish settlement 4 hours away. Apparently, someone at school gets a kickback from this, because he have working Amish farms about 30 miles away from my house.

Anyway, so while they are gone, I took youngest dd on a date with me to the bourbon bar. Well, not the bar but the restaurant upstairs. Since I doped up on flexeril and prednisone, I decided to skip the bourbon. We had a nice meal - cheese & fruit appetizer, steak, and club sandwich. I ordered the sandwich, thinking she wouldn't like the steak, and would eat the bacon and turkey. She loved the steak (filet) and ate 6 ounces of steak and my French fries. I guess she is going through a growth spurt. Then, we split a chocolate cake for dessert and took a walk along the riverfront and she played on the playground down three.

I had a great evening. It's time to put her to bed and get ready for the marathon weekend of soccer.

Good Morning Brent and Brian!

How is Canada today?

Kinda blah today..not warm, not cold, not sunny, not really overcast. HOw be the good ol' U.S. of A?

Otter Creek is my favorite Octoberfest. I am so anti Sam Adams I can't even look at the stuff. Do you import any beers from Connecticut?
Nothing right now. They are agressively going for American Craft right now, so who knows? Closest we have right now is 4-5 brands of Shipyard from Maine.
Right now I am loving a "Autumn Harvest Pack from Mill Street, a Toronto Micro/Brewpub. Has both an Oktoberfest marzen anda Pumpkin Ale, both realy good beers. Brooklyn Pumpkin doing well toocan;t wait for the chocolate stout to pop up soon.

I think it's kind of nice when your kids don't really have to understand mortality.

I was more concerned with the "dig 'em up" part. :rotfl2:

I waited all day in the back for you all...:confused3

Water isn't the same as beer? :badpc:

It's water flavoured with hops and barley.

Sorry I have been gone a while Dads... but I come back bearing great news. For those of you craving Le Cellier for 2013 they are now accepting reservations!!! They show up under dining reservations!!!

Morning guys...

Another day of being in charge...will spend the morning in the back, waiting for the "truck" to pull up. :rolleyes1 This'll make load #3 in a row for me, but it beats running cash all day. :crazy2: Going to try to blow through the skids quick this morning, I do really want to be on the sales floor this afternoon interacting with my premium beer customers.

I think tonight's plan is going to see Finding Nemo 3D afterwards, and possibly Mandarin for chinese buffet afterwards.:thumbsup2

I'm Back!!!:yay:

About 5 months ago I got called into a meeting to discuss my team, when I got there I had an HR rep waiting for me to tell me they were letting me go and escort me from the building. It wasn't performance related or anything, they were just reorganizing the department. Since then, they have let over 150 people go so at least I know it wasn't me. Rumor is the company is up for sale and they wanted to make it look good on paper by cutting salaries.

So anyways, I decided that until I was working I would stay off Dis and most of my other online activities until I was working again. I didn't want to be too comfortable being at home and force myself to focus on looking for work.

I started my new position this week! I'll be managing a team who does IT support for Gulfstream Aerospace.:worship::surfweb:
