Morning Gents,

Yesterday was the coolest dive ever. It was a night Manta Ray dive and there were about 25 of these suckers swimming around us feeding.

Here is a pic from the early dive when one of them is starting to congregate near the feasting spot.

Welcome to the club!

I watched that yesterday when you posted it to Facebook. Those boys had a bit too much free time on their hands!
I'm glad they had that free time though. I've had that song in my head for like 2 days now. :rotfl2:

Especially the "water, water, water, water, yeah" part.

It's the same around here - people shooting them off all night long, despite it being illegal. For some reason, it's legal for these people to put up tents in grocery store parking lots and sell a small arsenal to people, but illegal for the people to use said arsenal. Not like that stops them. :sad2:
I've never understood the concept of selling "out of state" fireworks. Basically they're saying you can legally buy them in Indiana but you have to take them to another state to blow them up... then you've got the neighboring states all selling the same stuff as "out of state" fireworks. Talk about legal loopholes. :rolleyes1

We're pretty luck here - the city shoots the fireworks off over Lake Michigan, which currently still has water in it. I usually bring my ipod and play the soundtrack to Wishes or Illuminations to make the fireworks more enjoyable. :thumbsup2
Yeah... If Lake Michigan starts to look like a dry lake bed, we're all screwed.

I would love to go diving sometime. Looks like a lot of fun.

I'd say it is a shame that this is the last diving day, but I don't think you'll be suffering much when you move over to Aulani.

The legal loopholes around here is that they make you pay an extra couple of bucks to join their "club" which has a permit to shoot off fireworks, but only in a designated area at a designated time. And the smaller municipalities generate a good portion of their annual budgets by selling these permits to the "clubs". So the little towns make the money, and the police in the city have to deal with all of the people that are shooting off fireworks in the middle of the night.

Ouch. Hope you get a break in the weather pattern soon.

I hate it when I get blamed for something that happened in one of DW's dreams.

and in the morning it is "I can't believe you did that!" :confused3

Very nice! I will stay in the top 6 feet of the water though.

Where is the peanut butter rain????????

We've had burn bans before... actually had one in effect most of last summer, but I've never seen the advisories about the low humidity/high wind fire warnings that we have now. I've also never seen my grass as dead as it is right now either. Even the weeds are brown.

Walked through a corn field last night and I about hurled. I've got plans to go to Kentucky for the NASCAR races this weekend. I'm at the point right now that I don't even want to spend the gas money to drive down there, but I've just been so stressed this past week, I think a couple of days of just getting away would be good. Then again, I'll see a noticeable decline in crop conditions when I get back home. :headache:

It’s been mightily tough up there so far this year. Here’s hoping for a shift in the jet stream to get things back to something closer to normal.

Actually, yes. Somebody posted the post totals for this thread and as always I had to see where I was in relation to my nemesis and I just had to wonder where the Beverly Rob has been. :confused3

Welcome back!

I'm glad you had a good trip... even if you didn't make it to the Disdads mecca.

Actually, I kind of did. Glad to hear you had fun, but vacation time's over. Back on your head. :rotfl2:

Well call me stunned… I’m generally not even missed by my own family.
Thanks for the welcome back (and even if y’all are just bein’ polite, I’t still appreciated).

Now I suspect tat I need to get to work on my post count…
I’m getting clobbered at the moment.

We're only supposed to get into the mid 90s today. DS's t-ball practice was canceled for this evening, which means more pool time!

They called off a practice for heat? Really? We’ll we are talking about young’ens and discretion is a good idea whenever kids are involved. We do make a point down here not to be in the direct sun from about 2 to around 5 (if it can be helped), but after that, the workouts will continue. However, it’s also true that after you’ve been in a certain climate for a while, the body adapts and 90’s to 100’s didn’t use to be as common up that way as I’ve seen recently.

Well, they're 4 and 5 year olds and there are a couple of whiners on the team. I'm guessing the head coach called off practice partly because of the heat and partly because he didn't want to have to listen to those couple of kids complain about the heat.:rotfl2:

If the jet stream doesn't shift, we could just wait for the government to mandate rain. Apparently the govt can do whatever they want.:lmao:

Not quite sure what to make of this...
Today, the ads on the DIS (for me, anyway) are about going to New Orleans. Well, hoop-de-doo. I could throw a cat and it would land in New Orleans. I don't want to go to New Orleans. New Orleans SQUARE, maybe, but that's in like 2 or 3 years.

Happy Thursday, fellow Dads!:wave2:

PS... oh... NOW the Disney ads show up.:happytv:

:welcome:
Grab a beer out of the fridge, pull up a lawn chair and jump on in to the conversation.

And… feel free to post all the pictures you want.
There’s no shortage of places around here for that.

It's the same around here - people shooting them off all night long, despite it being illegal. For some reason, it's legal for these people to put up tents in grocery store parking lots and sell a small arsenal to people, but illegal for the people to use said arsenal. Not like that stops them. :sad2:

With few exceptions, it’s pretty much legal to buy, sell, trade and ignite all the fireworks you want down here. Oddly though, the vast majority of sales are to folks that are passing through. When we first moved here it was a novelty because the laws in Fla. were so restrictive, but lost its appeal rather quickly. We hear a few families setting the stuff off around a couple of the major holidays, but most people in SC are blasé about it. It’s only when something is made to be artificially taboo that it sparks inordinate amounts of interest (and by association, foolish behavior)

Nice!

I got some good pictures this past weekend, and I even saw a ray gliding through the water one day, but it wasn’t a Manta...

worse yet… I wasn’t in Hawaii

Of course we missed you. So where did you go on the mini-vacation?

We couldn’t do the ten day Mid-Atlantic road trip I wanted to do so we settled for a few days in the Williamsburg area and made sure that DS could bring a friend along. This trip was more about the boys then about traveling, so we spent a lot of time at Busch Gardens to insure that the kids could hit every coaster up there as often as possible. We did explore the Old Town, and part of the Jamestown area as well. I also succeeded in getting everyone to consent to let me take one detour so I was able to explore the Nauticus Museum (and the USS Wisconsin) on the last day. The boys had way more fun on that side trip they expected or would likely admit. While in Norfolk we also got to hit a Road Food legend and grabbed a little noontime grub at “Doumar's” (which we’ll now highly recommend if’n you’re in the area).

All in all… a good excursion.

All the adverts popping up for me are about vacationing in California. Not sure what I looked up to cause that, but given the unreasonable air fare rates going anywhere out of CLT, it won’t be happening.

POP.

Hey guys, just popping in.

Been a beverly the last couple of weeks.

Well, got my breath of air, now back on my hands... as it were.
