Well, my attempts to write a "English-Children/Children-English" dictionary are still going slowly*. Today, I am happy to report that "in a while" apparently translates to "a period of time slightly shorter than it takes to blink. " And, "if you stand up in the shopping cart again, I will put back the squirt guns" translates as "please, jump up and down in the cart, squealing with joy, and possibly dancing to the background music of the local megastore."
* I decided some time ago that, despite appearances to the contrary, my children do not actually speak English. For example, when I say "Don't touch that!" it apparently means "Stick that unidentifiable object that you picked up off the ground up your nose."
LOVE the idea!
Do you understand? means "If I say yes, dad will stop yelling at me, but I really don't understand and will do it again in 3 minutes"
