Hi all! Been a very busy week at the beach and today is our "down day" :lmao: Hoping to meet up with Scott and Mike today. Weather has been gorgeous here. Have a great Wednesday!
:cool1:

Let me tell Scott to get off FB and get out there and meet up with ya :lmao: Have a great time remember pics or it didnt happen. We saw the one of you and Scott but none with Mike.

Now there's a race most of the Dads can support!

Mark I am sure I can speak for all dads going to DDC. We would all be happy if you could come and join in with us for the support group. I am going to be driving right past your place so an extra passenger would be great. I can stop pick you up on way down and you can grab a one way flight home if need be. Would be great to have you there

I agree Andy, shame on Barry!! One should not joke around like that. It could become a very troubling situation if it were to happen,

That's why the well-prepared dad always carries a spare beer in his pocket for those types of emergencies.

Time to catch up...

Well done. Good luck with Round 2. :thumbsup2

Congratulations and best wishes for round 2

thank you both.

Waiting on a call from the DDS. I did find out from the receptionist that she will do extractions so that at least is one step in the right direction. I thought I was going to have to find another dentist.

Joining the group of refinancers possibly. If it works it will save us a year and ~$50 per month that can be applied to the principal. Wanted to do a 15 year but that would have raised the payment $34/month and don't really want to be locked into a higher payment. No guarantee it will even go through because of our unique living arrangement.

good luck on both the extraction, and the refi!

Long, busy weekend

I hope everyone had a great Fathers Day!

Mine was a busy day, I actually didn't even get to see my dad, because we were at home getting things ready so the in-laws could come over last night. We had some hot dogs and burgers on the grill and DW made some bacon to put on the burgers. Well, by the time the guy running the grill finally got a chance to eat himself, the bacon was gone. :headache:

DD made up for it though. Last night when I put her to bed I was talking to her and she smiled at me... not the little "I've got gas" face wrinkle thing either. She had the eyes wide open with a happy sparkle in them and gave me the biggest smile I've ever seen from her. Totally made my day.

Awesome!!

Well done! :cool1: Good luck on round 2. :thumbsup2

Thank you!

Doh! That reminds me - I still need to sign up for the Goofy. DW and I are planning a kids-free trip that will basically be "we go down for marathon weekend, we both run a race, and then come home" - I'll see all the parks, but not for long, and not much will be open. :rotfl:

Anyway, just find a good C25k program, go to a running store to get good running shoes, and remember that:

1) walk breaks are fine, especially when you first start out
2) DLF>DNF>DNS (Or, Dead Last Finish beats Did Not Finish beats Did Not Start)
3) cotton is rotten - cotton shirts, shorts & socks are evil, created in the pits of Hell specifically to torture runners.
4) Vaseline and Body Glide are your friends

Storing these tips away for the future (hopefully, not so distant)

That's why the well-prepared dad always carries a spare beer in his pocket for those types of emergencies.

you know I will have room mates and can not be throwing all of your Barryisms at them. When your marathon is over you will be invited to ours. However keep in mind we will be in the parks sometime during this trip,so we might have to leave you a beverage behind the bush outside the door.

You can take the other contenders in Round 2.

Thanks. I will certainly try.

I bet you will do great.

I was right. Good luck with round 2. Find me a great paying job while you're out there

Thanks. If I see anything I don't want for myself, I'll let you know.

Here is a nice little write up on GoldenOak

I wish someone would hurry up and win the lottery :rotfl2:

I never win the lottery... probably because I don't play.

Yes, we had Dr. Quack. Originally, we picked a pediatrician that was in with one other pediatrician. She was young and had not been practicing long but we really liked her. She partnered up with a pediatrician in his 50s, who was rumored to retire soon. Well, Kosair's Children hospital made her a huge deal so she left, and he rebuilt the practice with two pediatricians and a PA. We like him and his PA, one of the oth docs is ok, and Dr. quack is an idiot, refusing to give antibiotic under any circumstances. Well, at the Sat clinic, dr. Quack was the only one available and DW says he's right. I'm ready to go smack him in the mouth. A virus that produces sinus infection like symptoms? Please.

ugh.. hoping to hear that things are better.

What am I watching??

Dirty Dozen??

Still a funny and sad memory. At Norway, the boat ride is a must do. I enjoy the scenery and the air conditioning, and the ride is fun. We usually stop for the movie as a way to continue to beat the heat and rest a bit further. One of our trips, we heard a young boy ask to stay at watch the movie and his dad said no because it was "propaganda". They were American. Everynow and then I'll say propaganda to DW and we both start laughing.

:rotfl2:

Those imagineers... what's next??

@David - happy birthday!

What he said. Happy belated Birthday, David!

Good Luck in round 2!

Thanks!

My surgery got pushed back to 1, so now its a light breakfast and very little coffee, not a good combination for anyone traveling with me.

Matt

Hope the surgery went well!

As I said before, I hit the treadmill last night instead of running outside in 89° heat. After seeing basically non-stop coverage of both Carsland and the new Cars wing at the Art of Animation resort, I figured it would be a good time to rewatch Cars on laptop as I ran. I only ran for about 45 minutes, but its amazing to see all of the details that went into Carsland. A mural that only gets about 10 seconds of screen time is duplicated almost exactly. I saw some of the old, closed down stores recreated as queue theme elements in some of James' pictures.

Holy crap, I need to start planning a Disneyland vacation.

Looking forward to planning mine. Very excited for Carsland. DW finally is too. She finally watched the movie and loved it. All this time she thought it was just cars racing around the track!! :rotfl2:

Happy Birthday to my wee girl Audrey! She turns 4 today too. Figures tonight is the only shift on my week of nights that I actually work nights. :sad2:

Happy Belated Birthday, Audrey!

We are talkig about a 2013 Disneyland trip... Maybe 2014 at the latest.

2015 for us... big DL/Aulani Mega-Vacation!! (If I keep saying it's going to happen, perhaps it actually will)

I would like to get out there, but I'm thinking we need to do a Disney Cruise before we venture out to DL. And seeing as I'm looking at 2014 for the cruise, I would guess DL would be a few years after that... Hope it's still there... ;)

Kill two birds with one stone... do the cruise off the west coast.

and welcome aboard the Walt Disney World Transportation System.

:thumbsup2

We're on our way to the Magic Kingdom. For your safety, please remain seated or if you're standing, firmly grasp the safety bars.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

hey guys...

still waiting on the surgery. They pushed me back until 330 this afternoon. Just want it over with at this point.

Matt

did it ever happen?? if so, i hope it went smoothly!

Well just got back from ER with eldest son.Left side of his face went numb and started drooping. Needed to take him to make sure wasn't a stroke. Well the good news is it wasn't.It is bells palsy.I guess I can take that as good news.
I need a Disney fix

glad it wasn't a stroke. sorry to hear it happened. I hope they can treat it!

Good news. DW took child back and regular pediatrician saw her and insisted it was a virus, supporting the other doctor. Thankfully, DW protested. I know that there are worries about MRSA and resistance to antibiotics, but the last time she saw him other than for physical exam was last August when she had bronchitis. The Dr agreed for lab work and called this afternoon that white blood count was off and prescribed an antibiotic. I know doctors are smart, but sometimes, parents know when their children are sick and need something more. I'm just ticked that we had to wait this long before she had any treatment. I'm not really the lawsuit type, but I really want to go kick the first doc's Beverly. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully, she'll get better soon.

glad to hear she's getting something. Hope she is feeling better!

never did kim possible. Will be at EPCOT twice on this upcoming trip. Perhaps I can try this one out.

Drives me nuts how some doctors will go to any length just to prove their beliefs. I guarantee that whatever the blood test results, this guy will interpret them to fit his (almost certainly incorrect) belief that viruses cause most sinus-type infections. I understand that you want to limit antibiotic use, but it certainly sounds like your daughter has crossed that threshold! Good luck and hang in there. You have my sympathies.

The good news is that within the next 5-10 years, there will be incredible changes to how we diagnose infections. The idea that we are still using the same culture strategies for the last 50+ years is insane. Who's to say that the organism that grows in a culture is the actual infection? Nothing is sterile in the human body and there are little microorganisms growing everywhere. What's the odds that the organism that grew in the culture is the actual pathogen when there are literally dozens of organisms in the human sinus & respiratory tract? Fair at best and highly dependent on who takes and runs the culture. The research into genetic testing of the human "biome" is amazing. The results these guys are getting is unbelievable and I expect we'll all benefit very quickly given the rate of increase in the clinical uses. These guys can take a sample and give you the composition, amount, and percentage of each organism very exactly. Then, they can track when a new organism or one of the "old" colonized organisms, starts growing out of proportion to what it should. Amazing stuff. Hopefully will eliminate some of this BS that a lot of parents are going through.

It takes a big person to admit mistakes, or not knowing something. Sometimes I feel too many people in the business of diagnosis (any kind, not just doctors) have too much of a vested interest in seeing their own diagnosis proven right to even consider they might be mistaken.

I actually got smarter from reading this.

:thumbsup2 +1

I'm only doing the half marathon? What's a equivalent half marathon for your sport? Light Beer?

Not sure many would want to drink any beverage stored in your pocket. It might be tainted with cheese smell.

Some might use the word tainted. Others would use the word "enhanced". :thumbsup2

I'd love to, Carl. I wish I could be there. Unfortunately, we're working on saving up for our big trip next summer, and paying Disney park admission would make a big dent.

You should see what they put in their cheese.

um... no silly, our equivalent is Half Keg.However this is a Disney trip so we will stick with our basic entry level marathon.

Ok now for some serious talk. For those who might of missed it. Scott,Chris ,and I have all joined in the marathon madness coming in Jan.We will all be doing the full marathon,as we believe that one should go all out and go big or go home.I know many of you are sitting there saying wow the three of you are going to run 26 miles? Well the answer is not exactly. Our marathon will consist of several laps around the kitchen table to get to the refrigerator for cold beverages. I know some are saying well that's not a marathon. Well let me remind you this. We are staying at OKW and they do have the largest rooms for DVC,and there is more furniture to be manoeuvring around then in any other villa. And With many trips back and forth to the fridge one would have to be physically fit.
Sometime on a future date I am sure we will be extended an invitation for other dads to enter our marathon.

very nice!!

Scott and I should be ok cause we have a Doc with us.Just have to make sure Chris stays safe. Wonder if OKW could provide us with a refridge attendant for the weekend.:confused3

I volunteer!!!

‘Morning all…
My but y’all went and got all chatty this morning…

“Light Beer” is neither.

I suspect that those “others” might also be best described as delusional.

Yes, you should see what we put in our cheese.

The voices in my head told me you'd say that.

HELP! I've fallen and I can't reach my beer!

:rotfl2::rotfl:

Looks like the list of Dads for the DDC is growing ever so slightly.I know Aaron is trying to get things together for it,so any info guys can get to him would help out with the planning:thumbsup2

I'm going to make an attempt to talk DW into it while on our trip this summer. Our plan for next year seems to be a fall weekend trip. So hypothetically, there may be points to borrow from next year to squeeze in the convention. DW and DD's birthdays are in January, so I could also try to sell it that way too.
