Howdy all…
What’s up?

DD made up for it though. Last night when I put her to bed I was talking to her and she smiled at me... not the little "I've got gas" face wrinkle thing either. She had the eyes wide open with a happy sparkle in them and gave me the biggest smile I've ever seen from her. Totally made my day.

There’s a good memory. You keep that one close.

It won’t be near as far off as you think that those sparkling eyes will start rolling instead to everything you say.

it was quick and relatively painless. Seemed like more of an interview to weed out people, and steer the rest toward the right job than anything else. There are two openings for different jobs, and the HR rep seemed to feel I was best qualified for one over the other. So, it appears I made the cut and moved on to Round 2. Now waiting for that, and trying to think of ways to brush up on my interviewing skills.

You can take the other contenders in Round 2.

Long, busy weekend

I hope everyone had a great Fathers Day!

Mine was a busy day, I actually didn't even get to see my dad, because we were at home getting things ready so the in-laws could come over last night. We had some hot dogs and burgers on the grill and DW made some bacon to put on the burgers. Well, by the time the guy running the grill finally got a chance to eat himself, the bacon was gone. :headache:

Andy, trust me, IT'S A TRAP!

Busy morning. New glasses are ordered, stupid parking fine paid, drugs pick upped. Some of the vacation clothes are in the washer. Have to re-rinse dive gear, dry it and pack.

That's very cute. Treasure it because she'll be hitting the terrible twos before you know it.

You have a new career? Now we know how you pay for all those vacations and Seton Hall.

How's everyone doing Day 2 of Father's Week?
)

About the same. Not one to remember this year.

I milk the whole month since it is also my birth month :rolleyes1

Got to try and get the most out of it.

. Made dinner at home and DD and I watched the Heat game. Up 2-1. She rarely watches games on TV but got into it.
do.

LeBron looked great. Bosh and Wade ok. Rest of team - not so good. A win is a win.

Good Morning!

in just a few minutes I am expecting a call. Doing a phone interview with an HR rep for a possible job. Very nervous. Haven't interviewed for a job in some time.

I bet you will do great.

I was right. Good luck with round 2. Find me a great paying job while you're out there.

Excellent! Come join Tim and I over at our Nemesis Challenge Thread (See link i my signature). We're both 1/2 marathon rookies running in January. You've got time to get in shape! Pick up a Couch to 5k or Couch to 10k program to start, then build up from there. Even if you can't run the entire thing you can run what you can and walk the rest. Then you can at least say you did it!:thumbsup2

Or gt a ride in on a golf cart or Segway.

Waiting on a call from the DDS. I did find out from the receptionist that she will do extractions so that at least is one step in the right direction. I thought I was going to have to find another dentist.

Joining the group of refinancers possibly. If it works it will save us a year and ~$50 per month that can be applied to the principal. Wanted to do a 15 year but that would have raised the payment $34/month and don't really want to be locked into a higher payment. No guarantee it will even go through because of our unique living arrangement.

Good look on both.

Why is the rum and bacon always gone? I love those moments with dds. They just keep getting better - don't listen to any of them.

Anyway, just find a good C25k program, go to a running store to get good running shoes, and remember that:

1) walk breaks are fine, especially when you first start out
2) DLF>DNF>DNS (Or, Dead Last Finish beats Did Not Finish beats Did Not Start)
3) cotton is rotten - cotton shirts, shorts & socks are evil, created in the pits of Hell specifically to torture runners.
4) Vaseline and Body Glide are your friends

Costanza said that cotton is a natural fiber. Why is it the enemy?

:woohoo: There is a good chance my crown was covered under warranty! Occasionally things do work out for the good. That keeps up I will have to change my avatar.

Norm... That's a long time up around 100.... Hope she gets better quick.

Yes, we had Dr. Quack. Originally, we picked a pediatrician that was in with one other pediatrician. She was young and had not been practicing long but we really liked her. She partnered up with a pediatrician in his 50s, who was rumored to retire soon. Well, Kosair's Children hospital made her a huge deal so she left, and he rebuilt the practice with two pediatricians and a PA. We like him and his PA, one of the oth docs is ok, and Dr. quack is an idiot, refusing to give antibiotic under any circumstances. Well, at the Sat clinic, dr. Quack was the only one available and DW says he's right. I'm ready to go smack him in the mouth. A virus that produces sinus infection like symptoms? Please.

Here is a nice little write up on GoldenOak

I wish someone would hurry up and win the lottery :rotfl2:

Tell your buddy Universe Controller there to let my numbers win. I'm ready to move there now..

Yes, that is good news.

I may just do that. It will help to have others along in what might be a grueling journey.

Doh! That reminds me - I still need to sign up for the Goofy. DW and I are planning a kids-free trip that will basically be "we go down for marathon weekend, we both run a race, and then come home" - I'll see all the parks, but not for long, and not much will be open. :rotfl:

Thanks for the pointers. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Well, guess I better go hop and that treadmill and start my training.

Shh, I don't want Fed to find out. Im reality, no one on the open market is interested in the drugs I have to take.

LeBron looked great. Bosh and Wade ok. Rest of team - not so good. A win is a win.

Ugly game but like you said, a win is a win. LeBron had another great game. I thought Bosh played well. Lots of rebounds and "hustle plays." Wade has been up and down but he is still is Mr. Heat to me. Can't wait for Game 4. Either team could blow out the other one at any time.

Let me be the first to wish you a Happy Birthday for tomorrow.

I am a June B-day too... ;)

Let me be the second to wish you a Happy Birthday Duck. Have a good day tomorrow. Try to sleep in late. Maybe until 5:00 am.

Brian, I hope to be underwater during your birthday taking pictures of fishes but I will tell them about it. An early Happy Birthday wish.

That is ridiculous. Hope she kicks this really soon.

One of my favorites. The Unwashed Dozen. Need to see if it is on one of my channels. I do have the DVD somewhere. What do I win? A reprieve?

Costanza said that cotton is a natural fiber. Why is it the enemy?

Because cotton holds water (ie, sweat) really, really, really well. To the point were a cotton T-shirt can gain a couple pounds of water on a long run. And then it clings, and chafes, and you wind up with this:

bloody-nipples.jpg

At Target, Wally World (sometimes), and any running store, you can get tech t-shirts, shorts, etc. You can wear cotton underwear (though some runners don't, and I understand why), but, on my run tonight (track workout, in 90+ weather. Gads, I'm stupid), pretty much everything that I was wearing was a synthetic, wicking fabric.
