Because cotton holds water (ie, sweat) really, really, really well. To the point were a cotton T-shirt can gain a couple pounds of water on a long run. And then it clings, and chafes, and you wind up with this:]

At Target, Wally World (sometimes), and any running store, you can get tech t-shirts, shorts, etc. You can wear cotton underwear (though some runners don't, and I understand why), but, on my run tonight (track workout, in 90+ weather. Gads, I'm stupid), pretty much everything that I was wearing was a synthetic, wicking fabric.

That picture was so ugly I couldn't include it. Yuk! I have always played tennis with cotton t-shirts, and while you swear a lot, I guess you don't get that constant movement so your ok. We switched to the dry fit tshirts for soccer this year.m I like the feel of the cotton t-shirt better, but if I ever commit myself to that much exercise again, I'll go with something else but cotton.

Maybe it is a US/Canada thing. Canada shows the dredges of the American Army and we show how we threw out the Brits in 1776. Propaganda.
.

Still a funny and sad memory. At Norway, the boat ride is a must do. I enjoy the scenery and the air conditioning, and the ride is fun. We usually stop for the movie as a way to continue to beat the heat and rest a bit further. One of our trips, we heard a young boy ask to stay at watch the movie and his dad said no because it was "propaganda". They were American. Everynow and then I'll say propaganda to DW and we both start laughing.

It's true seeing old friends is good for the soul:thumbsup2, meet up with one of my what would be considered as friends of a unholy communion :scared1:, but one of my dearest friends (this is where a lot of stories my wife thinks is fuzzy on but somehow knows they are true come from:confused3) she never knows what kind of trouble we can get into, and she's been there for some of it:lmao: We ended up doing shots of the very rare (haven't made it in about 10 years) Yukon Jack Perma Frost:thumbsup2, but we are planning a get together soon our wives can't wait, since every time we go out our wives will talk about it for a while:rotfl2:

Our last outing was a ZZTop concert a few years ago and with the things we pulled my wife still is amazed we didn't all end up downtown:lmao:

Good morning all :thumbsup2

Have to head north for some meetings, I hope everyone has a good day :cool1:

Morning Gents!

Happy Birthday David, I hope it is a great day.

Morning dads!

@David - happy birthday!

Off to find some coffee. I'm dead tired, and the day has barely begun.

it was quick and relatively painless. Seemed like more of an interview to weed out people, and steer the rest toward the right job than anything else. There are two openings for different jobs, and the HR rep seemed to feel I was best qualified for one over the other. So, it appears I made the cut and moved on to Round 2. Now waiting for that, and trying to think of ways to brush up on my interviewing skills.
Good Luck in round 2!

DD made up for it though. Last night when I put her to bed I was talking to her and she smiled at me... not the little "I've got gas" face wrinkle thing either. She had the eyes wide open with a happy sparkle in them and gave me the biggest smile I've ever seen from her. Totally made my day.
Those are the best! DS just started doing those a few days ago too. :thumbsup2

3) cotton is rotten - cotton shirts, shorts & socks are evil, created in the pits of Hell specifically to torture runners.
Just to add to the discussion - I started running in cotton shirts, buy by 10 minutes into my run they were soaked and heavy. Switched to dri-fit/tech shirt/whatever you want to call them - 180 degree difference! We must have stolen that technology from aliens or something!

:woohoo: There is a good chance my crown was covered under warranty! Occasionally things do work out for the good. That keeps up I will have to change my avatar.
:woohoo::woohoo:

Well, guess I better go hop and that treadmill and start my training.
I did the treadmill last night. Was going to run the neighborhood again, but since it was still 89° at 8:00pm, I went for the nice cool basement instead.

60 Days...

:scared1:  :scared1:

That must mean that I'm at 59!

Disney will stick their brand on anything, won't they?

Morning Guys!

Happy Birthday David!

My surgery got pushed back to 1, so now its a light breakfast and very little coffee, not a good combination for anyone traveling with me.

Prayers for a successful surgery!

As I said before, I hit the treadmill last night instead of running outside in 89° heat. After seeing basically non-stop coverage of both Carsland and the new Cars wing at the Art of Animation resort, I figured it would be a good time to rewatch Cars on laptop as I ran. I only ran for about 45 minutes, but its amazing to see all of the details that went into Carsland. A mural that only gets about 10 seconds of screen time is duplicated almost exactly. I saw some of the old, closed down stores recreated as queue theme elements in some of James' pictures.

Holy crap, I need to start planning a Disneyland vacation.

‘Morning all…

Matt: good luck surviving on limited coffee rations…
Oh, and on the surgery as well.

And…
a Happy Duck-Day to David.

Happy Birthday nemesis.

Holy crap, I need to start planning a Disneyland vacation.

June 2020. Let's plan.

I got to see them on the Recycler Tour after waiting overnight for tickets. 5th row floor center. Great show. The Black Crowes was the opening band. Back in the day ......
