All caught up!!

tired. good night at work tonight. got a lot of compliments from the DC folks, so it's always good to get some kudos. I tried to start reading "Princess of Mars" on the train ride home, but fell asleep. Slept through my stop, decided to walk back from there. Took an hour, but that meant I could credit myself with an hour's worth of exercise and then treat myself to a cookie!

I hope I can instill some good morals into my kids, along with some good financial sense. Not sure I had much of either one in my early adulthood.

I need some printer help. I need to buy a good inexpensive wireless printer. We bought a HP something a few years ago for the laptops but it only worked for a few months. I am tired of having to either pull information from one of the laptops via the network or have them email me the info so I can print it for them. And this include my DW. I have a HPC5280 in my man cave/office wired to my computer. For a short while we had the printer wired to the airport but we had issues with it not printing everything in its queue.

Any of you Tech Savvy guys have advise for me?

And whilst I am thinking of it. DD17 (turns 18 on Saturday ) bought a used Kindle, can I buy her a gift card to set up her account so she does not need to use my CC? somehow she got a hold of DW CC# on her iTunes account and managed to spend $350 in a weekend.

i'm interested in information on this as well. would love to get a printer set up as a stand alone device on our home network.

Since the movers were not taking personal stuff (which if it was taped in boxes, how do you know?), some coworkers were crying over packing up their stuff. I saw some bringing pickup trucks to work to load all their personal crap. A few had lazy boy chairs on their office. Really? How much work did you plan on doing today.



I saw them doing free shirts a couple years ago. I have ling since graduated, and one of them approached me for an offer. I told him to stop scamming students and he didn't see pleased with me.

I picked up an Epson Stylus NX420 when Best Buy had a sale a few months ago. It was less than $80. Wireless printing and scanning works great from both my mac and DW's Windows Laptop.

You can setup a simple network in your home, and share the wired printer.

Simply ensure the two computers have the same WORKGROUP name, and different workstation names.

On the printer with the computer, right click the computer and enable SHARING - give it a name. If done correctly, the printer icon will have a hand underneath it.

On the other computer, add a printer driver, select NETWORK printer, and let the system find it, it should also find the correct driver.

Please Note: The computer that is wired directly to the printer MUST be on for the other computer to print to it.

There is a little trick to it. Go on Amazon and buy a gift card. You can print the piece of paper with the 12 digit ? Code. Next, type in your credit card into the kindle. Download a free app, but you still have to have the info there. Then, enter the gift card # and delete your cc#. Then, the kindle recognizes it from there. I did this accidentally. But, i had friends say they tried just putting in gift card id originally and it wouldn't work. But, that was at Christmas and they may have worked out that glitch.

Or, it could have been that I entered gift card id from computer account as opposed to directly on kindle.

We have two wireless printers in the house. The main workhorse is a wireless laser printer used primarily to support DW's coupon printing. It's a Samsung ML-2525w and works great.Get about 2500 pages out of a cartridge.

The second is a Canon Pixma MP495 wireless, all-in-one color printer. Meets all our other needs such as scanning and color printing (photos, too). Price is pretty good on ink, too. Easy setup and wireless has never given me an issue.

Both were under $100.

Sounds like a prepaid credit card would be useful in this situation. Our bank offers them for no fee in increments of $20. She could also use the money for other things, too.
$350 in a weekend?? Sounds like a lot of chores to be done over the next few weeks....

According to my cousin Vinny, there is regular, creamy, and al dente. Then, there are instant grits. Personally, while I do enjoy eating grits, I am not enough of a grit connoisseur to be able to answer this question. I like my grits really hot with real butter, next to eggs, bacon, and biscuits with sausage gravy.

First there are those that are edible, and then those that were cooked by someone that never spent any time in the Southeastern US

The type of cornmeal used will make a big difference. After that, it comes down to cooking method, with the biggest difference there being whether you use milk or cream in the recipe or just stuck with either a water or broth base. Once you’ve decided whether or not you’re cooking “plain” grits or creamy” grits, then the dish varies by cooking time and thickness and then by what you add and how they are served (for example, do you add cheese, if so what kind or kinds, and then do you melt said cheeses throughout the entire pot or just sprinkle shreds on top after serving).

You can also bake ‘em and end up with something similar to polenta.

Rule 1: never… ever… put anything sweet into grits. It’s a savory dish… Period… End discussion.

The Kid comes home today after lacrosse practice carrying flowers and a grin on her face. I asked her what was up and she starts talking about her Drama orals and the paper she turned in. No child, I don't care about school, WHATS WITH THE FLOWERS!

Seems a boy asked her to the prom. Brought her flowers and wrote a poem. Despite grilling she would not even give me a theme for the poem. Told her before then thee three of us need to go out to dinner. Plan to bring my baseball bat with me.

Supposedly they are "friends." He took her to Homecoming so now I am not sure. Luckily, he just signed up for the Air Force (a plus on his side) so will be shipping out after graduation.

- Disney has reaffirmed that Avaitarland is still happening and should be done in 2015

Tell me about it. Two printers ago I went to Walmart to get a new color and new black cartridge. I left with a new printer because it was cheaper!
