Many of you passed this milestone long ago. As you can see I’ve been around for a few years and I have actually been very consistent in visiting the boards the whole time. So why did it take me this long to get to 1000 posts? :confused3

DW used to be on the boards regularly as well and while combing through the Family Boards one day, she came across a thread where the original poster was asking if there were Dads out there that were as fanatical about Disney as he was. I knew that this was a group that I belonged to but I never would have imagined that it would have grown to what it is today with over 600 members, a Facebook presence, website, podcast, and a whole sub-forum for just us dads to hang out in. I can remember when it took a week or more to fill up one page in the original thread. :rotfl:

A great thing about this club is that we can respect each other’s differences and keep the drama down, but the best thing about this group is the people in it. While I have never had the opportunity to meet any of you in person, I feel that I know many of you as if we had met and look forward to the day when we really can.

I used to visit other areas of the boards like the Theme Parks forum. :scared: Now it’s pretty much just the DisDads club and an occasional visit over to the cruising forum. I feel lucky to have so many friends here and while I don’t post that much and have never been a part of closing a thread down, I enjoy hanging out here almost every day.

I enjoy reading along with each of your adventures in life and living vicariously through your trips to the world when I can’t be there (even though I may be very envious). I follow along with your triumphs and pray during your tragedies. I’m enjoying watching your kids grow and am amazed at how similar things can be in my own house.

While I may never have the highest posting stats, and bacon has never made it long enough in my house to get a picture taken, I’m glad to be a part of this group. You are a great bunch of guys and I am proud to call myself a DisDad. :thumbsup2

Very well said Mike...

Glad to have met you on here at least. :thumbsup2

House feels quiet today. It has been 17 years since last we were without a pet in the house. The DD's are already talking about a dog. We have been talking about getting one in the future ( after June) but now they are a little more urgent about it.
They are still sad but look at things differently, they want a replacement now even if they are sad about the loss of the other one.

Morning all…

Just checkin’ in before I take my Lovley and myself off to get a little bit of churching. The boy is in the hand bell choir and they’re part of the service today (we’d be going anyway, but I certainly ought not be missin’ that).

This afternoon will actually contain a somewhat frightening component. Do to our complete lack of winter… I now need to bust out the lawnmower and straighten up the yard a might.

That just ain’t right…
:sad2:

Very nicely said....congrats on the milestone!

Afternoon Dads! Hope everyone has a good Sunday.....we're off now to take the kids bowling, this should be..interesting :rotfl2:

/
I showed it to my DW and then we both tried to stay quiet. My DD's still don't know we're going!

:cool1:
Wow i have to give you guys alot of credit if that would arrive i would be put in a chair by my daughter and asked many ?? till i would give in We Are Going to WDW !!! now give me water:scared1:

And I'm back home.

I just spent Wed-Saturday at Coronado Springs. With only 1 park day, I really didn't think i'd have enough material for a trip report. But, I took 306 pictures, so I might.

Most interesting thing I learned: I don't really like dole whip floats. I loved the orange Dole Whip I had in December, but the pineapple float? Not so much.
sounds good I have to say this quietly over 15 visits and 17 years I still have not had one yet :sad2:

Job, pet, and snow. You've had a bad run of it. We had to put a cat down. It was hard for my two dds. But, it helps to teach them about life and death. Hope it improves at work.

Even the cat we still have is a girl. I have my bonus room filled with Disney stuff, TV, stereo, and computer. So, I have a place to hide, but it is still infiltrated quite often.

And that's what keeps us going.

We drove from KY to FL and my dds didn't figure it out. But, in their defense, we did drive at night, only to wake them for gas refills. So, they were groggy. Finally, DW couldn't keep the secret and told them an hour outside WDW.

Yes, we enjoy our resort time and park time. Glad you had a great trip. Now,I have never had a dole whip float as I don't have the desire. I like the pineapple/ vanilla soft serve.
Background on me im an Ex Marine I sure can help in keeping the Infiltration down to "0" but it would have to do with placing a few traps and with permission a few tiny pieces of C-4 Explosives trust me they will never come near that place again :lmao::woohoo::eek::cool1:

Ready for some family time. Tonite - POTC 1. Have a good evening gentleman.
hope you had a nice family night :wizard:

Evening all...hope all had a good Saturday. Work was....quiet, REALLY quiet, not really busy at all. :confused3 It was strange to use a Sat. shift to do catch-up work, but gotta keep busy. Managed to finish off our inventory counts this morning too, boss was pleased as hell, but really, there is no way I should be responsible for counting 80% of the store myself.:scared1: Next up is the year end counts in a month (procedure is, a count each quarter, plus the big one at year's end), which he and I have to co-ordinate. This makes me edgy, I have done counts no probs, but never set up the year-end one up (different procedures used), so there is a bit of pressure to get it right. I should be able to do it, but there is always that little bit of self-doubt when toying with programs I'm not familiar with. :lmao:
you must be in a big store , I run a small convience store and the day and night mgr's commission depends on inventory so we count it every sunday night roughly 300- 550 items . takes only about 3 hours tops to do thank god I would go crazy if there was not some sort of bonus after counting that . Good luck i really hope your boss see the effort you are doing and at least buys you dinner . :wizard:

this sounds good but I do not know if i would buy one bacon and alot of things sound good but Coke:scared1:

Goodmorning to you....Goodnight to me. I am still on here everyday, just on the Disney Cruise forums mostly.pirate:
hope you had a nice night :wizard:

Maybe something less lethal. Just temporary stun.

very well said , I so agree with this . it is like a place away from the norm ! and no punt intended Norm !

That's the first time that one has been tried here.

In vacation news, we switched one of our ADRs. On DD's BBB day, we had originally planned to spend the morning at MK, then hop over to EPCOT for dinner at Akershus with the whole group (currently 17 people). Well, that restaurant cannot accomodate that large a party, so we initially split our group and made two separate rezzies for the same time. After thinking about it and doing more research, we called and switched to 1900 Park Fare, which can accommodate our large party under one reservation. On top of that we got the time we wanted (6pm, as opposed to 5:15 at Akershus.) And that changes our plans a bit because we'll now stay at MK that entire day and go back to EPCOT on our last day of the trip.

Glad to hear you got it worked out.

Lady Spartans couldn't pull it out. They led in the 4th qtr, and had multiple chances to win but lost by 3. Too many turnovers and mistakes to make up for. They took it pretty hard because they know they could have played beter and should have won. Hopefully a learning experience for the underclassmen, but feel bad for the seniors. You could tell they wanted it and one of them really tried to take over and carry the team on her back.

Sorry to hear they lossed, but sounds like close game.

Morning guys :surfweb:

Morning Dave.

That is not a bad idea actually...

I am not sure the stats, but I imagine we carry between 3000-5000 different SKUs, between regular and one-shot items. No idea how many units that makes though. On average when I count the beers for example, there are around 18000 units to count. Inventory value is around $1 million. (Our annual sales is around $13-14 Million I think). The reason so much on counts though is that being a government outfit, we are watched cloely by the auditors etc. :confused3

I wish I got comission on inventory. We carry more than 2 million cases and have to cycle count at least 40,000 slots per week. It is surprising how many cases are lost a week. Customers never call and tell us they received extra cases .... weird....

In regards to my preferred room question some pages back.... I ended up just requesting a closer room (casitas) instead of upgrading to a preferred. What are my odds of getting it?

Evening all...hope all had a good Saturday. Work was....quiet, REALLY quiet, not really busy at all. :confused3 It was strange to use a Sat. shift to do catch-up work, but gotta keep busy. I am not a fan of "mass" counts. We usually spend the next week fixing the mistakes created by everyone that volunteered to count.
