OK gentlemen, I need a little help here.

You see, DW and the kids are on their way to Iowa to visit the in-laws. After being out sick all last week, I didn't have spare leave sitting around to join them for this trip. So I have a Holiday Weekend Bachelor Weekend, starting this evening. :woohoo:

Now, I don't want to waste a ton of money eating out all weekend. But on the other hand, this weekend offers an opportunity for me to enjoy some of the foods that the rest of my family doesn't like/won't eat; watch whatever I want on TV (as loud as I want); etc.

So, here's a rough plan - I'm open to suggestions:

Tonight, either sushi or 5 Guys for dinner. I would go to my favorite coffee house for jazz after, but I just saw that they have a flamenco guitarist and dancers tonight. Just not the mood I'm looking for. Probably come home, catch up on some TV and/or watch a movie.

Tomorrow - sleep in, work on my disdads.com project. Do a few things around the house. Maybe pick up some wings at Costco to heat up for dinner while watching the KU basketball game. Drink some beer.

Sunday - sleep in again, work on the disdads.com project. Thai buffet for either lunch or dinner. Watch a movie or three. Finish leftover wings.

Monday - Sleep in. Clean up any messes I've left behind. Maybe go out for breakfast for some biscuits and gravy. Wait for the family to get home.

Pizza only thing missing.

Those movies are zombie movies, right?

Hey, since I was "That Guy" and Roz was going to give the "promotion", that means I've gotten more workplace advancement at Monsters Inc. in one visit, then 12 years at the LCBO :sad2::lmao:

Congrats on the promotion. A coworker's dad was "that guy" and boasted how proud he was that everyone remembered his performance, as everyone in the park kept calling him "that guy". He didn't realize the sticker was still on him.

Naaaa… it’s still leap year whether we close it down in a week or a month.

However, and not that I would condone such a thing, but…

If we can (somehow or other) keep this one open until then… we could open a “Leap Day Edition” on the 29th and see if we can close it down in one day. There are folks here that can certainly put a hurting on a thread. And… once we’ve done it, that milestone will be out of our system and we won’t need to worry about that particular bit of nonsense again.

Now I’m regretting that I actually said that out loud.

:lmao:

Rob, don't encourage them.

I know I'm in the minority on this one, but 1900 PF was not so good when I was there (dinner). The character interaction was great, but the food was downright horrible. Maybe I just caught them on an off night....

The food has declined over the years. Still, dds love it so we go back.

I don't talk THAT much. :rolleyes1  Isn't it just a man's job to just say. Right, yes dear, sorry, it won't happen again. Oh wait, that's just when talking to DW.

I say 4 apologies before getting out of bed, trying to get ahead of all my mistakes for the day.

Here's a conversation stimulator. What sort of adventures has anyone had at the Disney parks in terms of participation or unusual activities. For me it's been,

(1) Contestant on 'So You Want to Be a Millionaire'--Got to 1000 points, won a hat and a pin collection

(2) Received an "Adventurers' Club" Pin from the French maid in recognition of my celebrity. (see 1. above)

(3) Two times the 'guy in the audience' at the Hoop-De-Doo review that the funny lady comes down and does the 'shave and a haircut' song with.

(4) Received a 'Splash Down' award from a CM for being the wettest survivor of the Kali River Raft ride she had seen all morning.

(5) Was the Churros guy at Monster Inc. Laugh Floor

Who has had similar adventures?

I and the dds were in lion king show at AK. I was the elephant leader. Oldest dd was audience participant at WHW and won a pin.

Thanks for the welcome.

Hate to break it to you, but I don't have constant access to dole whips. Already drank all the beer. I'll see if I can get DW to bake a cake and no way am I sharing my bacon.

1 out of 4 works.

Don’t think we need to be mucking it up.

How fun... I'm all :) about the concept already. We'll be :car: the :hourglass, but I know we can do it!

Then afterwards we can all :dancer: and party: at our "achievement" :rotfl:

Christopher, I think all the DISDads should be offered to participate. Why don't you over the next few days PM each one to let them know about this Great DISDad event? :rolleyes1

Looks good. I love bachelor weekends. I get one each year for Memorial Day. Any hints as to the disdad.com project?

Rob, don't encourage them.

Too late.

But did you notice that I at least suggested we keep it as a SPECIAL EDITION thread, and not the primary thread? That way, those who WANT to participate can, and those who DON'T want to, don't need to feel compelled to do so - or get lost in the race.

That is such a GREAT suggestion Randall... but since you came up with it, I won't take away your excitement and anticipation of doing so. You go right ahead.

Did I miss anything worthwhile?:rolleyes1

All our usual intelligence.

‘Morning all…
Our pension plan was scrapped years ago.
Bonuses ended in 2002…
Merit increases have been suspended since 2005…
I took a 22% decrease in 2006 to remain employed.
The last cost of living adjustment was in 2007…
401k contributions are no longer matched…
Dental insurance is now 100% on employees…
Medical insurance goes up about 8% annually…
My profession has been moved to India, so comparable jobs are scarce…
What comparable jobs do exist are hiring in at about 48% of my current salary…
Being just shy of 50… I’m too old to be hired by said comparable employers
(age discrimination does exist… do even try to tell me it don’t)

Our employee level was over 45,000 ten years ago and it’s down to beneath 2,000 now, so I am one of the very lucky ones here (and we’ll be closing more operations this year)

Want to trade?

Ageism exists. Sorry to hear your struggles. Hang in there.

TGIF Dads!

17 Days until the cruise our son knows nothing about.

:banana::banana:

Awesome. Where/ how long you cruising?

I work the early shift and you come and mess it up on the 2nd :lmao:

What's a nemesis for?

Never show your cards ;)

Great post padding.

One month from today! :cool1:
8 Adults, 6 kids, 7 days, 1 pool house, zero cash left over!

How's that?

Kidding! Sounds awesome. I would go Sushi tonight rather than 5 guys, but that's just preference.
