Well those of you who visit the prayers thread know that my dad has been diagnosed with oral cancer...and will be having some major surgery on Feb. 29....

Nate,

Didn't know about your dad. Really sorry to hear it. Good that you are able to redo the trip and you and your son can go to WDW. Have a great time, you deserve it.

My FIL had oral cancer and they did a great job with him and he recovered. They actually had to go in twice. Thoughts and prayers your way hoping for a complete recovery for your dad.

Well those of you who visit the prayers thread know that my dad has been diagnosed with oral cancer...and will be having some major surgery on Feb. 29.

This fell right on the target date for DS17 and my trip. Well this upset my dad to no end that we were going to miss out because of him. I of course told him...it's not his fault...he has no control over the situation...and it is what it is...but there is no way we would be in WDW while he was in surgery.

So after some spreadsheet work...several phone calls and long talks with DS17...we are going to shift our trip 3 days forward...to Feb 24- Feb 28. (from Feb 27-Mar2).

Here's what we miss...No 24hr day...No Backstage Magic Tour.
Here's what we get...a chance for 2 EMH nights at the MK...Keys to the Kingdom Tour...1 extra park Day...Saving a whopping $6...My dad's happy(well...at least not upset because he thought he messed our plans up)...my son is happy...and I get quality time with my son...and will be here for the surgery.

Plan:
Feb 24...Drive from TN to WDW...check in 3-4pm...check out POP and goto DTD...hopefully meet FED on the way down.

Feb 25... KTTK Tour...MK EMH til 12am

Feb 26... Epcot

Feb 27... Return to MK for another EMH...also some resort hopping.

Feb 28... Check out....maybe meet Fed on the way back if we didn't catch him on the way down.

Prayers for your dad Nate, and glad to know that your trip is going to work out alright, and that you can be there for your dad.

Prayers and thoughts for your dad. Sorry the plans didn't work out quite the way you invisioned, but gld it'll work out. Probably just as well though, it'd be pretty hard to enjoy WDW with that at the back of your mind. Again my thoughts and prayers.

We have a Chanel through our cable that shows concerts and school activities all day. When there is bad weather they put the closing info on a bright red screen. I don't even put my glasses on just turn on the TV if it's blue we get up if it's red go back to bed.

That's pretty neat..

I just wanted to drop in and say hi.:wave2: Life has been very busy lately and no time to even stop in for well over a month.

Got a great taste of being the boss at work while my boss was on a 3 week vacation. I want his job but i want to drop my current responsibities. I realized that I really do a lot of his work. I gotta add we still ranked number one in our profit center so I must have done a pretty good job.

We are one week or hopefully less to inviting our new little one into the world. Cannot wait to start over again with a little baby, but it will be a great blessing and we already have him first trip to the world booked.

I am going to remember all the dads in need of prayers tonight when I say my prayers.

I hope everyone has a great week and I will be sure to drop in when the new little DNSYFRK graces the world.

Well, as usual, on the three hour ride home from Sarnia today, DW talked Disney, and she tasked me with playing around with dates, times, lenghs of stays etc to try and make it worth our while to get out there this year. We bounced lots of ideas back and forth, came up with some good ideas, but in the end, just cannot get over the $$ hurdle. At least I know now that she wants to go back as bad as I do. I do admit though, it is a load of fun bouncing ideas on how to make each vacation better, new ideas to get the most out of our trips.

Right now, the only plan is to make next year worth the wait

Hey Dave, up late tonite. The dog keeping you awake?

We don't have a zoo in Owensboro, but have one in Evansville about 30 minutes away. I need to renew my membership as I really enjoy it. I had a behind the scenes tour at the Louisville zoo once and got to see the lions' den. While walking along the wall, the male lion jumped up with front paws on the cage about 2 feet away from me. They are impressive.

Sometimes that's how I roll :rotfl:

So DD asked to watch Jerry Lewis in "The Errand Boy" before bed tonight....love it!!!

Jerry is the man :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about your dad - prayers, brother.
Bummer that you'll miss the 24 hour park, but it's still going to be a heck of a bonding trip. :thumbsup2

Just made my 180 day ADR's

Got everything we wanted.... except...

T-Rex - all booked up - go figure!

T-Rex is not owned by Disney and only releases so many tables to Disney's ressie system. Someone (Steve?) was able to call the restaurant directly and get a reservation without a problem. I'm sure someone here will post more details. But as with any Internet forum, it doesn't matter is I was right, as long as I was first. :rotfl2:

Helloooo Barry. :headache:

That sound right. ::yes::

Good Morning Men!

Scott, I think you were asking about where to get a FD hat. Try calling Walt Disney World Merchandising at 407-363-6200. You can order anything from the parks though them.

Good morning guys :surfweb:

That one seems odd...:confused3

And, prior to this year, was not on the DP. I agree with Barry. Google and call restaurant directly. But, they may not take ADRs 6 month in advance and you can call later. Also, the used to have a membership club online you could buy for $10, get 10% coupon for meal, and it gave you priority/ walk in seating.

My DW is a teacher at my DD'S school WIN WIN.

That works well for summer child care as well.

I have paid sick days, DW doesn't, so I get most of the stay homes. If I can't afford to stay home she goes with DW. If my parents are around, they could be an option too...

My parents are 2 hours away, so that's a no go. MIL is in town and an option, but I usually just stay home.

COngrats on the temp promotion and new addition. The most important thing for birth of new child - book trip to WDW.

Careful what you wish for, I got the boss position and kept all my old responsibilities. But of course the huge piles of cash make up for it:rolleyes1

Hope everything goes well with the impending addition:goodvibes

Gee, I'll have to try that next time. All we ever discuss on the drive home from Sarnia is "Tell me again why the hell we went to Sarnia!":lmao:

Day 2 of stay-cation. It is raining, but still nice to be home. I think I'll go back to work tomorrow.

Prayers for your Dad, Nate.

I'm glad that you and your DS were able to come up with some good alternate plans for your trip. It is a shame you'll miss the 24 hour day, but it looks like you'll get plenty of park time in, and most importantly, quality time together.

T-Rex is part of the Landry's chain of branded restaurants - the same company that owns Rainforest Cafe, and Yak & Yeti too, among many others across the nation. You can get more info about them and their membership program here. In the past, you couldn't even make RFC reservations online for the DTD location, only the AK location. That has changed and now you can get them online at both locations. But Barry's right - they only release so many tables to the WDW system.
