Top 10 worst states to retire in.... #1 Connecticut

http://money.msn.com/retirement/10-worst-states-for-retirees

Is it a shock to anyone that 7 out of 10 are in the northeast?

Don't worry Barry, it didn't leave you out. Wisconsin came in at #10! :woohoo:

That does not make me feel good.

Seen all those Westerns and own quite a few on VHS.

Especially so, after having just very recently stood on the USS Arizona there in Pearl Harbor. I have a great uncle who fought in the Pacific theatre - wasn't in Hawaii, but was on Guam & Midway. I've wanted to go to France since I was in high school. And seeing Normandy is a dream of mine - I have a great uncle who was in the brigade who stormed the beaches there. And of course - a trek over to DLP wouldn't hurt either.

Caveated by saying my grandfather, who crawled ashore at Normandy, told me that joke.

Years later I got to go to Normandy with him...it was a very very moving experience.

Unfortuanately, he's gone now.

:rotfl2:

That had to be a moving experience. I still remember talking to my Grandfather about his experience in WWII in Guadalcanal. He was a Seabee.

Truly and exceptional generation of people!

My dad was stationed in Pearl during Korea in the Navy. He was blessed with being a great tennis player, so instead of being drafted in the army, he joined the Navy and found himself teaching tennis to the officers and their families. He talked about going out on a destroyer at times, but they did not see any action. My grandfather was in the Air Force, but he never talked about it. DW's grandfather was in Guadalcanal. He didn't talk about it.

I wouldn't, to be honest. The odds of getting audited are so low, you're highly unlikely to ever need that service. I also doubt how helpful they'd really be. Unless you're trying to pull off some Wesley Snipe like tax maneuvers, you shouldn't have to worry, imo. :thumbsup2

I have receipts for all my deductions and don't try to claim the cat as a 3rd child. My risk bar is always in the low range. But, I always was afraid if you get audited - then what? I think I've bought it some years and some years not, which probably doesn't do much good.

Ready for the weekend... got your V-day covered?

I will be out of town again for the Valentine's Day - every year. But, we'll do something the following weekend.

Go ahead, so it'll help with your quest to catch Norm..

I wondered why he was posting so much. I should have known it was you.

The folks that post things like this seriously, as opposed to the funny parody above, only serve to prove my thesis that the ground state of humanity is ignorance, arrogance, intolerance and violent self interest. Only the realization of some far distant ancestors that a group will survive more readily than an individual did we attain some form of societal advancement. Unfortunately, all too often we are confronted with throw backs. It's so frustratingly annoying. Its a good thing that the explosives and automatic weapons at work are kept under lock and key. And I don't have the keys.

Well said.

Morning guys :surfweb:
Here I am eating my breakfast when I read this on the boards :scared1:
not so hungry right now. Way to go nemesis :thumbsup2, not a thumb :rotfl2:

Glad I can help. What's a nemesis for?

This is a picture of my grandfather after they got to Normandy. He is the one on the far left sitting.

I got these on this website http://gateway.ca.k12.pa.us/memorial/

He was in the 324th Field Artillery Batallion, 83rd Infantry Division.

Speaking of dance, time to drive one of them there.

BTW, I got the heat working again. There was a short in a wire or the connection. So, I can shake the wire and get it working again. They are coming back to replace the part, but in the meantime, I have heat.

Leaving for the Daddy/ Daughter Dance. :dance3:

A very proud Dis dad.

Nice. Before our second daughter was born, our first daughter was genuinely worried about how we would handle the Daddy Daughter dance if it was another girl. Hasn't been an issue yet. DD2 will start coming with us next year.

Your Grand Father is sitting on the trail of the M114 155mm Towed Howitzer, affectionately called 'the pig'. those things, along with the other artillery assets saved many many GIs during the war. Coordinated artillery fire was something the US Army did better than any other force in any thearter of the war. I spent 17 years working Artillery programs and have a huge amount of respect for the Redlegs.

Well my Dad got his surgery time for tomorrow.

So I get to be up at 4:15a tomorrow morning to be on the road by 5a to be at the Hospital by 6:30a for his procedure at 7:30a.

Your continued thoughts and prayers are much appreciated! :thumbsup2
