Watching the vanilla ice show. He did the half-time show at the palace last night for eighties night.

IMO everything is throw away these days, there's no craftsman pride anymore, it's all about how much they will make:confused3

All the old school stuff you could fix yourself and it would last years longer, if we could go back to that kind of thinking we all might have some cash in our pockets :confused3

You have a point. At some point the manufacturers realized that if they built something that would last a lifetime, they'd be losing out on repeat customers, and therefor income.

That then raises the question about the lack of jobs that would result from the previously mentioned loss of income, but thats too far down a spiral that I don't think I can realistically comprehend right now after all this wine.

As a consumer, I wish we'd go back to that old school mentality, for sure.

If they want to fix the economy they just might have to do a little Time warp:confused3

I know a guy who is an inventor and he is always trying to develop a better floor cleaner or something. All his inventions get turned down becuase they don't have some knd of component that needs to be constantly replaced. Like swiffer you buy one swiffer mop but you canstantly buy the swffer cloths. They know how to make money.

It's a staple of a sustainable product these days, they believe in the need for a repeat customer for income and sustainability. There's some sense to it I guess; but it also impedes on real progress. If there is a better product out there, it should be built and sold, and then consumers can spend more on other things. Just my 2 cents...
