I could probably do 12 ish if the kids would sleep the whole time and DW might be able to do 4 but then we would both be wiped and need 8+hours of sleep to continue. we will probably go till 12 first day and finish on the second. not to bad but it is still a haul.

About 22 if we were to drive strait. which we cant but it is still ending up cheeper than flying. and we are still doing 10 days at WDW.

How many is it for you? has to be close to the same. you are probably further north but don't have to angle over.

Its a Amtrak Train that goes from Lorton VA to Sanford FL, they load your car with all your stuff and it goes with you

I agree, I think thats what we will do. we have done this trip before, but the last time our DD's were much younger. They are used to traveling and do it well. I don't for see any difficulties but you never know when a seven and nine year old are concerned.

We are trying to figure out how to leave for our trip. Leave right after DW gets off work !:00pm or go home sleep for a while and leave at 3:00am. there are good reasons for both but I think we will probably end up leaving at 1 just for the fact that i dont think either one of us will sleep in that time and that would make it unsafe to drive that early. thoughts?

Forget about sleeping. I would leave right after she got off work. I can't sleep before a trip. On many of them I wake up at like 2 AM can't go back to sleep so I take off. If I get tired, I pull off at a rest stop. but then again, I only have a 4 hour drive.

Speaking of not sleeping before a trip. Have to get up at 4 AM to go to the airport. Really excited about Roatan. Should be a fun trip. As a tease here is a pic from Key Largo. Will see many more of his friends next week.

All in all a good day today. Seton Hall ponied up some money to entice DD to go there, the stray she brought home is moving to one of her friend's house and I leave in the morning.

4 hours I do half that just getting to work and back each day then I drive all day. when it snows and I have an early run I can put 12-13 hours in in just one day.

It's really not that bad, if you book early, I booked a couple weeks ago for August, Round trip coach, with dinner & breakfast, for 2 adults & 1 child, plus a oversized vehicle (mini van) it came to $779, it saves me over 900 miles each way

I like it you get to see a lot of small towns, that you would not see on the interstate, but the thing I like best is that when I get there I'm not tired a good touring day
