Thinking about canceling our Aluani trip. Called today to reserve an excursion, spa treatments for the kid and a private cabana. Guess what? The cabanas are sold out for the whole trip. They suggested I keep calling back. That was the one perk I was looking forward to. To spite them, I might not even go.

We are doing a beach/BBQ/horseback thing. Not a fan of horseback riding. Don't like walking bow legged for a couple of days after riding a horse.

And as a suggestion, discourage all of your women folk from doing spa treatments. My god it is an awful lot of money to be wrapped in volcanic mud. Told the kid it was her graduation present.

Second game was much better, the boys came away with a 6-1 win. Here are some of pictures from the two games. Declan is in yellow.

From the corner, is he a natural lefty? You just don't have many of those. My youngest dd will retaliate against players. I didn't teach her that. Looks like he is in the box. Did he gt to take the PK?

I'm not sure I can afford the airfare to Aulani in 2017, much less a cabana or volcanic mud. If you make it to KY, I'll soak my front yard with the water hose and you both can lay in the mud there. I'll give you buy one get one free for what you're paying at Aulani.

Hi everyone, I am coming out of lurkdom again. I have been following, on and off, what has been going on. I do stop by the FB page often.

On the job front, I have almost finished the training. I had a job shadow day last Monday with the regular carrier. Sitting in the jump seat of a USPS truck for a few hours is no fun. The regular carrier has no plans for any time off and the route she has no longer has a second day off (I don't understand some of the contract stuff) so she does not need me, but since she requested a sub be assigned, I am it. I am supposed to be trained on a couple other routes later. I am supposed to have one day of OJT and a week of "casing" the mail. Casing is sorting it into delivery order. When I job shadowed, we started casing at 7:30 and were not able to load the truck until 12:00 noon.

I am also in need of videos of NYC. Please see the thread I started:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=44997268#post44997268

And I almost forgot, we are trying to plan a trip 1st week of August to WDW to see some friends from our Baltic cruise and another trip at Xmas.
welcome back alanpapa!!! glad you fot the job!!! im not on fb so im out of the loop.:rotfl2:
Staycation - Day 5.

A short travel trip - 2 hours away - so will still call it a staycation. We went to the famous Starlight, IN. It is home to Huber Farms and Winery.

temporary-68.jpg

It is also home to a talking tree.

temporary-71.jpg

We got to meet up with my nemesis, David, aka theduck, and his family. I would say that he's the ugly one, but that wouldn't help clarify anything.

temporary-66.jpg

First up, let's go pick some strawberries.

temporary-69.jpg

temporary-64.jpg

temporary-70.jpg

I will need to work with them on picking fruit. They both picked some underripe strawberries, some overripe, and then they kept moving over rows until they were almost out of the strawberry fields. Apparently, they thought it best to to pick only one strawberry from each plant and from a plant in every row.

Overall, a good yield. We will be having strawberries for dinner tonight, with a strawberry appetizer and strawberries for dessert.

temporary-73.jpg

After the strawberry patch, we returned for some pictures, lunch, and dessert.

temporary-65.jpg

I didn't photograph lunch, but we got the equivalent family style skillets while David and his family had a normal size meal. Well, the family style meal was enough for about 10 people - fried chicken, ham, mashed potatos, dumplings, beans, corn, broccoli salad, cole slaw, and biscuits and apple butter. The apple butter was in a squirt bottle - genius. We shared a bottle of blackberry merlot from the winery and even bought one for later.

temporary-72.jpg

We had some ice cream and played with the ducks and fishes before we left, betting on which child would fall in the water first. David may be a terrible, evil nemesis, but he is a great guy. His family is also really nice. I think our dds played well with each other. Thanks for a great trip and adding another chapter to the staycation.
great meet !!!!
Don't I know it. There are guys in my masters league that haven't figures out it's quicker to move the ball by passing than dribbling through the other team.

Second game was much better, the boys came away with a 6-1 win. Here are some of pictures from the two games. Declan is in yellow.

no ice skates???? i thought they played soccer on skates in canada. :rotfl2:
great pictures!!! :thumbsup2

Weren't you playing with the DUCKS all day? What did you do throw breadcrumbs to David and his family?

Looks like a great time was had by all.

Apple Butter, Yum. Glad you guys had a good time.

Not breadcrumbs, pieces of Twizzlers :lmao:

That apple butter idea was genius. I should have taken a picture of it as well. Let us know about Holiday World. My youngest fell asleep shortly after we got in the car, he usual, but woke up and asked when they could play again.

True CJ. We just went and watched the other ducks with feathers. They must be the Inlaws.

The Ducks run on my side, my family is just plain Goofy :lmao:

Kate fell asleep as well. Do you go to Holiday World more in summer or fall?

You have to watch the girls with sports. They can be mean. I know, I have one of them.

No way I am going near a spa, it is for the kid. I'll bring the bottle of bourbon and watch you soak a front yard. They can play in the mud while we are enjoying sipping whiskey.

Wish I was there. You guys look like it was a good time. Twizzlers would be a bonus.

Did get the Disneyland tickets in the mail today so all is good. Been paying this trip off for months and getting closer to kick-off. Doubt that I will ever get back to Hawaii so making sure that if there is something I want to do, I am going to do it.

Lefty he is, kicks and throws.

The contact happened at the edge of the box and the ref didn't call anything. Somehow they ended up with a throw-in. He did have some words with the kid marking him on the throw and made sure he was the one to get the ball. He is usually pretty easy going but when he feels like he's been fouled, in whatever the sport, he doesn't take any crap.

Great pics. Contrats to him on the win.

Thanks, the played a lot better in the second game.

The other club doesn't have enough girls for their own 12u team, I guess, so this team had three. They were pretty good and did a lot of pushing and leaning on the others. DS was one of the few that felt if you are going to play with us we'll play with you just the same as anyone else. He did his share of leaning when he had to.

It is mostly a summer time thing for us. DW and the dds just got passes this time, not me. I go occasionally with them, but I am more of the zoo guy. The dds have summer day camp Tues, Wed, & Thurs, and DW has Monday off work and I have Fridays off work in the summer. She will take them to Holiday World on Mondays and I take them to zoos on Fridays.

As for crowds, June is better than the other months. Monday's aren't bad, but Tues, Wed, Thurs are the least crowded days there in the summer.

Sounds great. Just let me know when.

As the divisions get older, there are less girl players. My youngest played a pick up game against some boys her own age this season and she held her own. Soccer should be more about skills than brute force, regardless of the gender. Sometimes you get that in the games and sometimes not. Some of the flops in soccer make the NBA look like it's a high school game.

Looks like another DisDad meet is in the books...Good Job David and Norm!!:thumbsup2 I want some strawberries now!! :rotfl2:

I lost a camera today at Wal Mart....I had paid 750 dollars for it!!! Man I can't figure out where I might have left it!!! If anyone sees it let me know!!!

Had to go car shopping today and had every intention of trading Shari's Odyssey in for a newer one..We went to the local dealership that I had sent an e-mail to a day or so ago to inquire about what they had in stock. We got to the dealership and got out and started looking at the cars and a salesman of course comes out. Nice guy and set us up for a test drive...it road great...when we got back I cold tell things were different. The guy did not come out to greet us and when we went inside to give the key back he glanced at us and said he could not talk to us anymore. I didnt know what to think. Well I guess the guy who answered the e-mail had "first call" on us. He scolded us for not asking for him and I felt like I was in school and had done something wrong. I didnt ask for anyone we were just looking around and were approached. He was a piece of work and the first impression turned me of totally on Honda...So, I walked across the parking lot where he could see me and bought an Acadia! Great vehicle and glad the guy ticked me off!!! He lost a sale but we got a vehicle we really like! Everything works out the way it is supposed to in the end. Also, this is my FIRST EVER american company car! I have been a Honda and Toyota guy up until today!! Now I am Toyota and GM ...Honda lost out!:rotfl2:

New Car Ownage!

Congrats. And, even better, it is NOT A MINIVAN. Enjoy life on the non-minivan side.

The association Declan plays in has about 1600 to 1800 kids from 4 to 18. They have a rec league that plays in town, Division 1 (Declan) and Premiership start at 12U and goes to 18U. Division 1 plays in the western region of the province while premiership plays province wide. Premiership is a bit higher caliber but the main difference from division 1 is the time commitment. Our club is able to field teams for both genders at all levels of play right up to the 18u level. The younger rec kids are mixed up to 8u.

We are set up about the same as you. Our rec league does not travel and can field teams, but at U14G, it drops to 4 teams. So, you only have three opponents. The competitive teams travel and are more expensive to join, more time, and that's before food or hotel. My opinion is that prior to 7&8 grade, children don't need to travel four hours every weekend for soccer. They lose the time to be children. Unfortunatly, the competitive league is trying to dissolve the rec league here, and they are doing it my promising parents of lesser talented children that they are Olympic material, get the parents to switch them to competitive league, and then build a weaker team for the #1 competitive team to beat the snot out of. The competitive league has even got the middle schools to stop offering teams to force the ones who want to play to go to rec or competitive. It is really sad. I think if my dd continues, she will be good enough to play on the competitive league when she is old enough, but I just wish the stupid parent competitions and high school pettiness would end.

I think it's safe to say you can't do that, but if the ever put on the ballot justified beat downs for acting like those idiots on TV, I think it would pass:lmao:

Speaking of soccer, I sold off the Red Bulls tickets I won at the gift auction, with 2 WDW trips this year I thought it would be better to get a Dis Gift Card:confused3
