Barry, you are right about the nurses. When I had my little hospital visit, they were great. They cared about me and really helped me get better. Very dedicated people. And they dispensed some good narcotics.
I wasn't offered any narcotics :(.
Although after Bambi was discharged, they continue to provide free meals since she was a breast feeding mother. They let me eat her food when she wasn't there. So I guess I had that going for me, which was nice.
Did you check with Bambi before offering the couch? The Brit friend regularly tours farm country in the midwest. Planning on doing a tour with him next year. We may do a drive by. I would be up for some cow tipping.
She knows how important you are to my training, so I'm sure she'll be fine with it.
And who knows, if you play your cards right I'll take you up to my brother's farm and let you run the manure spreader. :thumbsup2

Wow, those are scary stories. I can't imagine working there and dealing with the inevitable heartbreak.
So true. One nurse said they did have a very high success rate - over 90% I believe. It make take weeks or months, but most babies do make it home.

Sounds like my middle son, David. He basically didn't sleep for 6 months. That's what finally got me to start drinking coffee. :hyper:
I think it was the 2nd night he was home and I was up with him I thought about taking up coffee drinking. I haven't yet, but I also haven't ruled it out... :surfweb:

Morning Dads!

What will the week bring? Never really know. One of our friends lost her step-dad this weekend. Their gospel band had just finished playing and he was complaining of feeling a little sick and some chest pain. Went to go to the bathroom and never made it. 42.

You know, you and Andy could offer DisDads real "farm" experiences for years we don't have trips planned to the world :thumbsup2

I'd be up for the spreader, as long as I can pull it behind your turbo charged van :rotfl2:

Wow - so sorry to hear this. You just never know when it's going to be your time. Just whenever He's ready for you.

Morning all…

Sounds like my middle son, David. He basically didn't sleep for 6 months. That's what finally got me to start drinking coffee. :hyper:

Not fun. Our DS didn’t get the sleeping through the night part of the equation figured out for nearly a year and a half (and teething was a joy that words just can’t describe given my exhausted state of mind when it hit). My wish for you guys with the new arrivals is that you never come close to experiencing anything like that.

Wow…
I am very sorry to hear that. Prayers for the families involved.

Wish I could. I work from home so I have to be home to work. Or do I? Maybe I can work from my home away from home. Too bad the Hawaii/Disneyland trip is eating over a year's worth of points. Once the Pirate Princess is at Pirate school this fall, I plan on doing some traveling. Have friends around the country and in Europe that will let me mooch off of them (let me know if there are any other takers out there). And of course occasional trips to the Keys. Yea, my life sucks. But considering last year at this time I was barely getting around on a walker, I will take it.

If you're driving up the East Coast we have a guest bedroom that's always available.

Tim, now is your time to kick his butt training wise. He is sleep deprived and basically doesn't know where he is right now. Just a helpful hint.

Maybe he's just practicing running exhausted since you'll need to be up by 2:30 am marathon weekend.

Yeah but I can say from experience that holding cholic-ie baby + holding cup of of coffee + laptop on lap = broken laptop + hot coffee on pants and unhappy baby.

wow. Makes one reflect and appreciate the time that we have.

Just go back and look at your diving pictures so you can daydream. They were pretty awesome photos. :thumbsup2

One of the tasks today was to get some pictures printed to hang on an empty wall. First I needed to go buy a memory stick because the mutt I did not want decided to use my old one as a chew toy.

She knows how important you are to my training, so I'm sure she'll be fine with it.

Speaking of which, have you been running? Get your butt out there. Don't make me come up there to verbally taunt you in front of the kids. Not that you would think it but many of my friends would say I have been spreading manure for years.

So true. One nurse said they did have a very high success rate - over 90% I believe. It make take weeks or months, but most babies do make it home.

The twins next door were preemies. One was in the hospital for about a month. It was touch and go for a while but now she is a beautiful 19 YO perusing a singing career in Nashville. The miracles of modern medicine.

Wow, that is so sad. My heart goes out to the family. Last year really changed my outlook on life. I am going to have fun and enjoy what time I have left. Yea, I will do what I need to do to provide for my daughter. Luckily I can choose to say no to some of the manure and yes to things I really want to do.

We have private birthing suites, then about after a few hours, you're taken to the postpartum rooms which are private, but allow for visitors.
There is also a waiting room down the hall that was taken over by a very large family about half way through our stay. They did basically the same thing - brought in trays of food and set up camp. But that's a much better place than in a semi-private room. Yikes!
At our hospital, we had a room all to ourself. Could be that it wasn't too busy, or could be that my DW was treated like a VIP since it is her place of employment! :thumbsup2

You can crash in my guest room anytime you want.
Well, it's more of a basement living room/play room with a fold out couch. And they're usually a mess of naked Barbie dolls and partially decapitated action figures. But if you can avoid the nightmares from that, you're welcome too it.
Shall I pencil you in for next January?
I'd love to see the January Wisconsin diving pics. :smokin:

Yeah, Tim, but yours usually goes like this:
Boy meets beer. Boy drinks beer. In the shower.
Sounds about right. ::yes::

I'd post that pic here but I don't want to get banned. I think it still can be found on the DDC FB page. :surfweb:

He's usually only getting up twice at night. But he does have a knack of making the last one about 45 minutes before my alarm goes of, which is a nice little extra kick to the Beverly every morning. :headache:
What a good kid! :thumbsup2

Wait a sec... are you serious? We need to be out at 2:30am race day?

Once upon a Time

Who watches it?

If you do watch it, who do you think Emma Swan is?

Obviously we know she is Henry's birthmom, and Snow White's daughter. But does anyone think she is also a character in the Fantasy World? If so...Who?

Jasmine? :rolleyes1

Wow... a guy goes to The World for a week, and not only do you start a new thread, but it's up to page 22 before I can get to a keyboard. Sheesh ;)

Anyway, one of the things on my list that I DID manage to do was to taste that Beverly stuff I've been reading about here. I don't know what the big deal is, I liked it. :confused3 Different folks, I guess.

My condolences to the family of the step-dad. I'd say "That could have been me in July," but mine was minor enough that I had plenty of time to get to a hospital.

And to all the rest of you, Happy Monday.:surfweb:

PS... oh, yeah... gotta take that ticker out of my sig.

ETA... AAaaaand, I start page 23!

Thanks for the support and prayers guys. It is hard for our friend. She and her step-dad had a bit of a difficult relationship because he was only a little older than her and quite a bit younger than her mom. Her kids are having a hard time losing their papaw.

Beverly is OK but not my favorite. I'm more of a whole milk guy.

!

Never tried the Beverly. Don't plan to try it.

Morning guys. :surfweb: Hope everyone's off to a good star of the workweek. :thumbsup2

GOod for me. In doing my time sheet, I've had 37.5 days of paid leave this year. I am a proponent of taking time off with your loved ones. If I could have the nice weather, I'd be like CJ all the time.

Sounds like my middle son, David. He basically didn't sleep for 6 months. That's what finally got me to start drinking coffee. :hyper:

That was our youngest dd. First one slept all night 2 weeks home from hospital - trick baby.

I wasn't offered any narcotics :(.
:surfweb:

Yeah, what terrible medical care in U.S. Your DW has baby and you don't get narcotics. What is wrong with this world.

Really sad. Prayers for them all. Live every day as your last - no grudges and no regrets.

Speaking of which, have you been running? Get your butt out there. Don't make me come up there to verbally taunt you in front of the kids. Not that you would think it but many of my friends would say I have been spreading manure for years..

Yes, Barry, don't make CJ give up all those vacations to help train you. He is way too busy.

Wow. Incredibly sad. A friend of mine just had a heart attack and had to get a stent put in. So glad he made it to the hospital in time. He's not even 40 yet. :scared1:

Us too! It'll be like a DIS-Dad tour of the east coast. :thumbsup2

:rotfl2:

I so hate it when that happens.

My DW always knew when it was time to relieve me in the middle of the night, as I sat futilely rocking my son, trying to get him to sleep. She just listened for the part when she heard me yelling, "For pete's sake, shut up already!" :rotfl:

wow. Makes one reflect and appreciate the time that we have.[/QUOTE]

:thumbsup2 She said she was going to try to find out if she could have off soon, I got a feeling this will be a short notice trip, that makes me nervous since you know how I have to have a certain time for our ADR's:scared1::lmao:

You can still get them, just not all the exact ones or times. You are our commando leader - this shouldn't be a problem.

Good morning everyone, and I must ask.... where is Dave?

Yeah, miss that greeting.

This David is here......good morning :thumbsup2

Here it is. Scheming to draft Luck in Fantasy?

I'm sure.

Both my kids absolutely loved them. My son's name is Mark, so I think that's why he liked them. He was mad they lost, but basically OK. My daughter was almost inconsolable, and she never reacts to anything. I don't know why she had such affection for them. Must be something in that Kentucky water (bourbon, burgoo??).

That's it. Maybe some of that bourbon would have consoled her? Great KY parenting advice.

Hey everyone...

Been spending more time over on the other forum... Thought I'd pop in and say howdy... :teleport:

Be sure and check out the "My {Your}..." posts linked in my signiture.

Working on a series of Podcast using the Info collected...so if you haven't had input on them yet either over here... or over there...then please chime in.

Been wondering what you were up to.

It's the old story:

Boy meets beer. Boy drinks beer. Boy meets another beer.

A great story. Bring on the sequel.

I'd love to see the January Wisconsin diving pics. :smokin:

I imagine it would look something like this:
