DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Thanks Deb! Tomorrow is Garrett's birthday & I have ordered him one of those high calorie, very sweet tasting cakes. I think I will make the cupcakes & this way while everyone else is eating that yummy cake, I can in indulge with a cupcake & not feel to guilty. I will have to get some cool whip tomorrow when I pick up the cake.

You can use any boxed cake mix with any diet soda. We've tried white cake with diet orange :thumbsup2 chocolate with lime pepsi :thumbsup2 white with diet cherry coke :thumbsup2 Honestly I haven't tried one that we didn't like. My only complaint is that if you make it in a cake pan it is so moist that it is impossible to cut and get a piece out. It sticks to the knife and the pan. I use a regular muffin tin with the papers in it and fill each one about 3/4 full. It works great and makes them easy to serve. We don't frost them as they are good without frosting, but you could use cool whip free or a diabetic frosting.

Deb,
Is it 1 can of soda to 1 box of cake mix? How many ww's points?

Today's my first day on ww's. I am way to ashamed to even say what I weigh but its over 200 & I am not happy.

So far I have just had my coffee but thats because I am busy getting things ready for my religion classes tonight & making cupcakes for Sophie to bring in for her birthday.

I am going to use Sparkpeople.com to keep track of the foods I eat. I think this will help by showing me how many calories I am taking in a day. It lets you put in the foods you have eaten & shows you the calories, fat, ect that you had for the day. It also shows you how many calories you should have a day for the amount of weight you are wanting to lose. I think this site will help me, by showing me that even though I may think I am eating well my choices are not the best.

Hi Anne Marie! It is 1 can of diet soda per cake mix. Sounds awesome doesn't it. I'm sure Deb will respond but I think she said 1 cupcake is 4 points?

Don't feel ashamed, be happy because you are doing something about it! (I have alot of room to talk, I said I was ashamed too!)

I know we can do this :cool1:

Well, I didn't do as much exercise as I wanted to yesterday, but today is another day! I did do sit ups last night, and that felt good.

Today I plan to walk for 30 minutes on the treadmill, and do some weight training as well. Wish me luck!

My kids now request that I make their cupcakes using soda instead of the regular way. That makes me happy as it is not as bad for them. Even if they put regular frosting on theirs they are still better off.

It is one can to one box. We count 2 to 3 points per cupcake depending on what size they are.

I haven't made them in a while. I'll ask at my meeting tonight just to be sure.

Hi all! We'll I am up and running (well, not literally running) I think. I got my Sparkpeople account reset for my new goals and have eaten a good breakfast. I weighed in this morning at 235, but would like to be the 145 range in the end. Since 90 is definitely too big for me to be focusing on at this point, I would like to lose 30 by my birthday in May. To that end, my goals for January are to eat a healthy breakfast everyday and get back to drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. I also want to get started with exercise, but plan to work out that goal for February.

Glynis. Good luck fitting the exercise in.

I got up this morning and actually made myself exercise. I dug out the kids DDR dance mat and did that for about 30 minutes. I feel so uncoordinated when I do it, but I guess I'll get better if I do it more. I also did 2 sets of 20 situps. I don't feel like it was a strenuous workout, but I know that anything is better than the nothing that I have been doing.

I expect to be up a couple of lbs today at weigh in as I've been a very bad girl. I am back on track today and I have 2 days of exercise under my belt. I'm in the right frame of mind and that is half the battle for me.

Welcome back Tia. You can do it. You've made the first steps and you've set your mind to it. I agree, get your eating habits in order now and fit exercise in later. It took me a year to get the eating part down so now I have no excuse on the exercise front.

Deb

Hi Tia! I joined Sparkpeople last year & never did anything with it. I have reset my account as well & as of yesterday I am keeping track of what I eat.

I have got to get myself in the habit of eating breakfast. I was not hungry but I had 2 slices of plain wheat toast & 6-oz of low fat yogurt.

I keep thinking if I would have just started last year with everyone else I would be at my goal weight now. But I have to push that thought aside & work on now.

Good luck Tia, I know you can do it :cheer2:

Fabulous goals, Tia!!! You can so do that! We are here for you!

What is the Sparkpeople website? I'd like to check that out to keep track of food and stuff. Thanks.

Well, I did it! 30 minutes on the treadmill! Feels good to come here and report!
