DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Keep up the good work. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm glad to see people continuing to make progress. It shows me that there is still hope for us all

Deb

:rotfl2: Jennifer. We know we are obsessed when we even dream about DIS board related things. :rotfl:

Beth...don't get discouraged....I have had plenty of 1/2 lb weeks.

Ok, Disney half run/walkers, listen up!

Now that I have your attention, I just thought I'd see how you all are feeling about this thing. Kyle and I laid out the rest of our training schedule, and let me just tell you -- :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 Since I start work tomorrow, and he officially starts later this week (regular crappy schedule), and I had a breakdown about never seeing him again last night (you really should have seen me, I was a mess!), we decided to kick this thing into gear and give us two reasons to train together. So ...... yikes.

I'm really excited about it. I KNOW we'll all be able to do it! :thumbsup2 I am just starting to struggle with my own personal goals. I am reaching a point where I REALLY want to wimp out on them. I think we are ready to walk this thing as of now or very soon, but I really had a time goal in mind and wanted to run it all. (Kyle is fine, he probably could have ran it when we first started training, the big loser  ). But the second half of our training program (the running one, once we finish the walking one in the next 2 months) is throwing some awfully big numbers at me! I just CANNOT see this girl, who still really hates running  running in excess of 10 miles repeatedly?!

Anyone else having second thoughts, not about the race itself but about your goals? Let me know I'm not alone here! :rotfl:

I have started a blog, as my family keeps pestering me about it. Maybe that would be a good place for this doubt nonsense! :thumbsup2 It's at jenseverest.blogspot.com (I think) if you're interested at all. :goodvibes

Approximately 28 weeks! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi everyone - I've not stopped by here in a while so thought I'd come see how you're all getting on... and it sounds to me like you're doing GREAT!!

Jen - I think it's a great idea for you and Kyle to train together - you get to spend some time together and there's a tript to WDW at the end of all the pain :)

I've been doing some kind of exercise for 30mins every morning when I wake up - the scales aren't changing but I'm feeling much better - sleeping through the night and actually wanting to excercise  !!! I'm having to eat more to make up for the extra calories I'm burning :rotfl:

Hi All,
I originally posted this in the wrong thread.... So, I wanted to post it in the correct thread.... That the newbe... :rotfl2:
I am new to this area of the board. I am glad I found you guys.... I mainly stay close to the trip planning board.
Here is my story, and I am hoping I can stick to it..
I have been working on lossing some weight since January at first the incentiive was for our trip in Sept 06. I have lost 14 lbs already, but last week I diagnosis diabetes type II, so now its for health reasons more than anything.

My Goal 35 more
Plan to continue 1 hour of cardio with weight training 4-5 time a week :yay:
Low carb/low sugar diet...

Checking in for the week......another slow loss week. Only 1/2 a pound gone this week. I tell you my body is holding onto this fat for all it's worth, but I am going to keep on fighting it!!!!

Welcome, Wyndi!!!

I have not been good this week...weigh-in tomorrow will not be a pretty sight. :sad2: Please don't let me give up!

Beth

Beth, last week is in the past. Learn from it & move on. Think about how far you've come & how you want to keep moving forward. Just keep on going & hang in there.

Thanks, Melanie! The bad news was that I was up 1.5 pounds this week. I just have to remember that I've lost much more than that.

Beth

Beth,
We just have to remember that this weight loss thing is a journey so there will be some forward momentum & some back tracking just like on any journey. The important thing is to just keep going.

P.S. Does it seem like we are the only ones here lately???? :confused3

I am back... weighed in on Tuesday and was pleased to see no weight gain. Considering what I ate and drank in Boston last week that was an amazing feat!

Onward and upward... or should that be onward and downward?!?!? :rotfl:

With dealing with the stress of Chuck's illness, I have not been doing real well with any more weight loss. I've been doing good at maintaining within a couple of pounds of my lowest weight (25# total loss). I go up a pound or two and then go back down. I also have been drinking more pepsi again but I've stayed under 2 (which is fantastic for me with the stress that I've been under). In the past, I'd be up to at least 5 but probably 6.

Actually, I'm quite happy with maintaining right now. Once we get some answers, I hope to continue my downward journey on the scale.

Maintenance is a good thing, Vicki! I think with everything going on in your life you are doing quite well. :goodvibes

:offtopic: but I hope ya'll don't mind. I saw your cute tickers & had to go investigate & change mine. :teeth:

Good job on maintenance Elin & Vicki----that is a great accomplishment when traveling or when stress is making your life complicated. Ya'll deserve a few :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: .

Jennifer, there are days (many of them) when I wonder why I signed up for the half at all. I just worry about being able to maintain my speed for 13 miles. It really has me scared most of the time. When that happens, I stop and think about where I was last year at this time (mostly on the couch feeling sorry for myself for being such an overweight slob), and compare that to where I am now. I figure, even if I don't end up finishing the half, I'm light years from where I started last year. I'll just do the best that I can and enjoy the progress that I've made. It will give me an excuse to try again, either to finish, or to better the time I end with.

Don't ever worry about coming to us with your worries, fears, etc. That's what we're here for: to be your cheering section!

Welcome, Wyndi!!! It's always nice to have a new friend here! You can do this! I know that diabetes is scary, but with diet and exercise you can live with it. My mother was diagnosed with type II about 6 years ago and was able to keep dialysis at bay for 4 years with diet and exercise.

I notice you live in Spring, Texas. I have a sister-in-law that lives there. What a small world, huh?

Hey, everyone! I'm back for a good long while, I hope! This has been quite a month. After getting back from DL, my family went camping for a week. I was not very optimistic about losing anything but decided to just enjoy myself within reason, and do the best I could. I ate little bits of everything we had but kept my portion sizes down, and really had a good time! When we got home I weighed myself, and found I had lost 2 pounds! I couldn't believe it!

Next was a trip to my mom's for a week and a half. I did the best I could and walked 2 miles every day. I still felt that I had gained some weight (didn't weigh at mom's), but decided I wasn't going to punish myself about it. Weighed in yesterday morning, and found I was another 2 pounds down. Talk about ecstatic. That puts me at 9 pounds to my ultimate goal weight!

Seriously, I'm so happy right now I think I'm going to bust! I haven't weighed this little in 16 years. Now my goal is to keep on keeping on! I'm stepping up my walking/running with the half marathon in sight. I'm also starting to add in some whole grains to my diet, yet keeping portions within reason! I'm doing much better at snacking so I feel good about that!

I'm so proud of all of you and the work that you are doing. I think that at the end of August, we all need to add our numbers together and see just how many pounds we as a group have lost. That would be astounding!
