DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Glynis- I did not meet with the Dr. on the 13th because DH'd company is changing insurance companies- and they said it wo0uld be better to wait until the insurance was intact with his company. So... I'm waiting until April now- and I'm bummed. The house is not up for sale yet. DH's company lost the last bid in Pittsburgh and they have a new job bidding opeing in 3 weeks for a job in Seattle. Hopefully they'll get taht.... who knows. EVERYTHING in my life is on hold for now- and I can't stand it!
Dance Festival is going as planned- it will be held on June 24th- you should come up here and visit the fam on that weekend! We haqve over 3200 kids doing this festival! We just can't believe the support we've been getting. It's been very exciting.
Thanks for thinking about me.

I think your Dr. is right about waiting until things with your insurance calms down. It is really expensive, and any help from the insurance is a good thing. I'm so sorry about the bid loss. What a bummer! I'll keep you in my prayers for the job in Seattle. Would that mean you'll stay put in Oregon? I would love to come up in June, but that is one BUSY time for our family. My father is the founding producer of the Utah Shakespearean Festival, which opens that same weekend of your dance festival. DH does all the video for them, and the kids and I tag along to help my dad "schmooz" all the dignitaries. We've been doing it for my whole life, and can't stop it now. It's expected! However, I will definitely be thinking about you. I'll let all my family know and hopefully, they'll make it to support you. Come to think of it, you probably have a couple of my cousins children in the festival. Of course, with that many participants I wouldn't expect you to remember.

Melanie -- I, too, fluctuate by a .5 to a pound to even more from day to day. It is frustrating, but it sounds like you aren't letting it get you down and are working on an exercise strategy. I got back to WW yesterday, and was down 1.6, but I exercised a lot this week. We are going skiing soon, so that is an extra motivator to me. I'm getting too old to just go, without working out these muscles first.

I had a real eating dilemma last night. My DH has just taken a new job -- thankfully, as he was in a really bad job for the last year. He starts in two weeks, but his new boss took the management team -- now totaling 5, including Randy, plus wives to a 6 course meal at a French restaurant last night. He had picked the menu beforehand (except the main entree, and I went with the fish because it sounded like it had the fewest points), but I used all the WW techniques, as well as suggestions from this board. I sipped my wine, ate only a few bites of each course, skipped the bread etc., and I don't think I did too badly, and I really enjoyed myself and didn't feel deprived. (We are luby's or chili's diners, so this was a real treat for us!)

I was up .5 on the scale, but I'll jump back on my points today and and elliptical and hope the rest of the week goes better.

Good luck to everyone on their goals this week!

Nevermind :) I had a Nutrisystem question, but I found an answer on a website! :goodvibes

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone.
0.5lbs doesn't mean a thing in the scheme of things but it sure feels good to see a loss (even a small one) instead of a gain. I try not to weigh but one extra time a week except for my weigh in at WW because I know too well about those daily fluctuations & those would make me crazy :crazy2: every day.
Went on another long walk with the dog today, so I am getting started moving. Just waiting for my Firm stuff to come in the mail to really get my excercise started, but at least I am walking.
Tuesday night is weigh in night & I hope to be down this week.

On a side note:
Went to see Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby last night.:tink: It was really good & I was surprised at how Peter-like she was. It was a fun night out.

We went to see it last year and we were all awed. It was fabulous. My DD17 loves anything Peter Pan/Tinkerbell but was especially thrilled with this.

My weight loss journey is going well. I'm losing a pound every couple of weeks. Still haven't started to exercise but I've increased my activity slowly preparing for our trip to Disney next week. I'll get serious about exercise about our return.

Marci, sounds like you did great. I would just say, however, that you DESERVED to binge a bit! This has been a really stressful time for you, and you and DH have every reason to celebrate! I'm glad that dinner was yummy and fun! Sounds like this new job is going to be just the ticket! Have fun skiing!

I'm so jealous that you got to see Cathy Rigby! I have the DVD of the production, and my kids love it! DH and I were both in a production of Peter Pan when we got engaged. He was Mr. Darling/Capt. Hook, and I was Liza/Wendy understudy. What fun memories!

Okay -- new week, new resolve. I'm going to try to keep up with this thread more. When I do pay more attention, I seem to make smarter choices with meals. I made a not so good choice for dinner last night, so I did 10 extra minutes on the elliptical. Didn't help much, though, because I was still up on the scale. So, I'll focus more on dinner choices on the weekend and this thread.

Hope you guys all have a great week!

Marci. I agree, if I am accountable to you guys I make better choices. I have been very good on my diet since Wed Feb. 15. I hope to see results soon. I was really hoping to be outside walking by now, I hadn't expected a foot of snow over the weekend (the most snow we've had all winter) and temps in the negative numbers. It is freezing here. Just putting the groceries in the car was torture.

Deb

Wow -- I can't imagine that much snow! We also got a lot of precip Friday and Saturday. We've been needing the rain -- lakes and ponds are all very low, but it seems like we got it all at once. I can only imagine how restless that kind of weather makes all of you feel. If my youngest can't get outside for a couple of days, he drives everyone crazy.

Your post about tapping the trees and all the mishaps, falls etc. from the snow made me think of that funniest home videos show. I'm sure it wasn't funny when it was happening, but you had a good attitude about it after you all were finished. I'm glad no one was seriously injured.

Here's hoping warmer weather heads your way! :sunny:

Glynis,
What a cool thing to be able to tell your kids about being in Peter Pan together. It was a really great production & Cathy Rigby was amazing. It was a great Saturday night out.

Marci,
Sounds like you have amazing will power. :worship: You did a great job.

Deb thanks for starting this thread. :cool1:
It really does help with the accountability just like going to my Weight Watchers meetings & having to step on the scale. I am grateful for all the support that I have been getting here because it really does make it easier to get through the week. :goodvibes

I agree that this thread has been one of the things that has kept me going the past six weeks. I have been on diets before, but I have never had the support group to come to like we have here and that helps a lot!

I am so very excited to tell you all that I have lost another 4.8 pounds this week. I was able to get back into my NutriSystem and exercise completely so that is why such a big change from the past 2 weeks. I have lost 20.2 pounds of the 60 that were in my goal. I know that the number of pounds lost will go down in smaller numbers as I get closer to that goal, but I am very happy with the results so far.

I had a chance to go see my younger daughter in a theater production at college oin Sunday evening. I had not seen her in two weeks and had not seen our older daughter since Christmas. They were both shocked at how much weight I had lost. That made me VERY happy. They are calling me "little mama" now :teeth:

I had to buy new jeans and dress slacks on Friday and ended up with pairs that are 2 sizes smaller than what I wore on our WDW trip in December. Keep supporting each other. It really works.

As side note about weigh-ins. It is highly suggested that you get weighed once a week at the same time each week, and not on a daily basis. Your weight can fluctuate by as much as 5 pounds in any given day and definitely does so on a day to day basis. The weekly weigh-ins are best for morale, I think. Dieting is hard enough without the added stress of those .5 pound increases occasionally. :goodvibes

Tink2020 - did you get the answers you needed about NutriSystem? I am not a fountain of knowledge about it, but can tell you that it is working for me. And I was VERY skeptical.

Keep it up everyone! :cool1:

Elin --

CONGRATULATIONS!
party: party: party: party:

That is truly amazing progress! Great job -- keep it up!

Elin - That is amazing! How wonderful for you! I bet your daughters are so proud of you! I know that I am! Congrats on your weight loss, and your new clothes. Just imagine how wonderful you'll look on your next trip to WDW!

Great job Elin :thumbsup2

I am frustrated this week. I had my weigh in tonight. I did really well, or so I thought & followed program & walked 3 times & only lost back the 0.5lbs I gained last week. :furious: I know there are good weeks & bad weeks, but I hate having weeks when I feel like I've been good & it doesn't show up on the scales.
I will stay on track & hopefully it will show up next week. Trying to keep a positive attitude & focus on the progress I have made so far. Giving myself a pep talk. :cheer2:
Keep going everyone. We can all do it, especially with help & support from each other. :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:

With my crazy and hectic life plus being sick. I have managed to lose 20 pounds since January 1st, even though I haven't always eaten right or excercised. Now I have to work on eating right and excercising. I am actually drinking more soda now than before but it was all I could drink when I was sick. I plan on giving it up for lent and excercising more. I also need to get more sleep.

Melanie -- .5 is awesome! We even celebrate .2 losses. Everything counts, and I bet that with you staying on program and exercising this week, you will see an even bigger loss when you next weigh in. You CAN do it!

Thanks Marci I need that.
My husband told me last night that I need to "just keep swimming, just keep swimming."----just like Dori.
Keeping on keepin on. :woohoo:
